Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 32 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently faced unexpected parking fines arriving years after their initial visit, often accompanied by stressful and aggressive debt collection letters demanding large sums. Consumers strongly struggled with the unhelpful appeals process, noting that the company completely ignored valid evidence or proof of tickets purchased on site. Some reviewers were not happy with the confusing payment machines and the strict time limits enforced immediately upon entering the car park. Visitors also mentioned that these excessive penalty charges severely impacted their household budgets and ruined otherwise pleasant holiday experiences.

Kafkaesque situation

Kafkaesque situation. Though I'd paid for parking in Porthtowan in Cornwall, and could prove it, I was fined for not displaying the ticket based it appears on no concrete evidence from them. The photo Alliance provided appears to show a ticket on the dashboard, but despite this and the evidence of payment, they declined my appeal with no further evidence - just their word against mind. Even if ticket was not seen by the warden surely the evidence of payment should be accepted. What a truly awful company. The council should use one of the more credible app offers such as Ringo and remove such a unpleasant company from its operations.

Damer Bay rip off

Damer Bay, Cornwall. Intention was a quick meet with family before moving on somewhere else. Option was to buy 1hr or 3hrs, I knew 1hr may be pushing it a bit but new 3hrs was way over the top. The abscence of the possibility of buying 2hrs forces you into risking it for 1hr or overpaying for 3hrs. I opted for the 1hrs, on my departure after roaming the carpark trying to find bins which were non-existant and huridly walking back from the toilets which were out of order I gingerly headed over the rough, pot hole ridden, uneven "car park" scraping the under of my car multiple time before actually managing to exit. When including the initial faff of trying to download the app in all I was 30mins over my 1hr stay and opted for the £60 early payment option. In my opinion this "fine" call it what you like because thats what it is at the end of the day is not propotionate to the charge especially when there isn't even a 2 hr option. - Disgusted. Considered fighting it but just don't have the energy.

Avoid public parking in UK where this company operates, paid for two hours, overstayed by 10/15 minutes. Got a fine 120 pounds or 60 if pay immediately, also 50 pound from from car rental company. Unreasonable trying to deal with them.

Same story as others

Same story as others. Paid for parking but put in wrong registration. Made an appeal showing payment details and they didn’t even respond. Next thing we know we are being chased by debt collectors. Do not park in any area they control.

Vile parking company using any slight excuse to fine - avoid

Do not park at Trevone or Harlyn. They will use any slight excuse to fine you £100. If the queue is long and you go over ten minutes to get your ticket you’ll be fined. If you use the app they limit you to half an hour or 2 hours - there’s no 1 hour option and two hours is much more expensive. Even when the machine is broken they fine you.

The only way to fight back is to not go there. Go to other beaches and park in other car parks.
I wish I could give a minus score review.

Two cars parking in Hayle at 09.56

Two cars parking in Hayle at 09.56. We tried to pay, but the app rejected our payments. Both cars had disabled badges and occupants. I phoned the 0330 number advertised on the notice board and left a message on option 5. I then phoned the back up number starting 028 at 09.58. and the call was cut off. Alliance text 5 mins later at 10.06 to say find alternative parking. By this time, we had walked away to our destination. My aunt, being 82, with real difficulty walking. The other disability person, having poor breathing conditions. On getting to our destination, I phoned the 0330 again, using option 3. “Simon” answered the call. I explained the situation,in regards to the disabled occupants in the cars, and offered to pay. Simon just told me , very rudely to move the cars and promptly hung up. What an attitude to disabled people, I was shocked at his attitude. My aunt, was unable to walk back to the car, so we had to get the car and collect her. I It stated on their website ! Wheel chair accessible car park. What a joke, I have taken photos of the severe pot hols in the car park. No way could you get a wheel chair in the car park. Disgusting attitude towards disability.

Not a good experience

I accidentally omitted a digit from my cars registration when paying for parking and received a fine. I appealed and sent a screenshot of my bank payment. Despite "investigating" my appeal, they rejected it.
In my opinion they have no compassion and are only interested in the contents of your wallet. There's no phone numbers apart from a payment line so forget trying to speak to someone.
I think from reading other reviews they only get 1 star because you can't score ZERO. At least they are consistent!
In future to avoid future issues I'll use a parking app.

Alliance Parking aka Kevin McManus been…

Alliance Parking UK Ltd - CEO Kevin Mcmanus having visited a beach after 6pm with only one other car to capture a sunset and leave they fined me £60 okay! I get it no ticket was purchased guilty as charged! When is a car park 24/7 with no other cars after the closure of shops etc in off peak season? It’s revenue oriented tried to have a professional conversation with Kevin but the sheer arrogance of the clown just shows what he’s running a profit making machine! He had the audacity to say it was theft? So purchasing a new car and not paying for 30 days is theft is it Kevin?

Highly advise not to park in any of their car parks as any infringement however minor will result in a hefty fine. If you try an appeal they make it very difficult at every step. Bottom line they are leaches on society.

Another exploitative Parking Company

This company, like other Parking companies, likes to exploit its onerous "Conditions of Contract". I paid the requisite fee for the car parked and have the ticket to verify the fact. It appears to want more money now as I failed to display the ticket within the vehicle, having issued a retrospective PCN to me. I am not intending to make any further payment to it. I have every reason to believe that its accounting system, had it checked, would have verified that the appropriate fee had been paid. Not my fault if it couldn't.

Alliance parking intention is clearly…

Alliance parking intention is clearly to generate as much money from issuing parking tickets at the sites they administer, they make it difficult to obtain a valid parking ticket.. the impact is that tourists will not travel to Cornwall and the economy will be damaged by them, trading standards, the local MP and dept of transport need urgently to take action against these cowboys... the land owners clearly do not have a social conscious of the misery and stress alliance cause to the local community and holiday makers. Get them out... I won't visit Cornwall again.

Parked in Looe Cornwall

Parked in Looe Cornwall, paid cash as the machine wasn't accepting card payment and I had no phone with me to pay by phone or contact them. Entered Reg. number , but no ticket was issued. A number of other owners had the same problem and many had no ticket displayed. Received a penalty notice two weeks later and appealed, stating that the machine was broken but was called a liar in so many words. Apparently, if you pay and no ticket is issued, you are supposed to find another machine and pay again. You are also offered the option of finding another car park and giving them your money for nothing. The "rules" comprise a massive amount of do's and dont's in script way above eye level. You are supposed to read all of these, while a queue forms behind you. This company need to be investigated, especially for the veiled threats that failure to pay could affect credit ratings etc. This is nothing short of bullying and harassment. In plain language, they are licensed thugs , hovering on the verge of criminality. Do yourself a favour if you should find yourself in a place where they operate their scams and leave immediately. Any local authorities or car park land owners who use Alliance Parking should be thoroughly ashamed of supporting these foul creatures. They knew very well that I could not return the hundreds of miles to Cornwall to answer a court summons . I wish them the worst possible future, both company and all it's employees.

Blood suckers

I see Alliance Parking are still trying it on. Don't pay these blood suckers, there are plenty of websites which will tell you how to avoid these totally bogus charges.

Abusing its position of power

A completely ruthless company, abusing its position of power over its customers. I parked at Harlyn Bay and paid for double the amount of time I used. When they fined me, I sent a screenshot of the bank payment. They refused my appeal. Because they could not find my numberplate on their system for that day, they said that it could "only be the case" (an assumption) that no payment had been made for my numberplate - perhaps I had typed it in wrong. They had no interest allowing for human error, merely in their opportunity to squeeze maximum money from a victim. In any event, I strongly suspected their machine was broken, because I am punctilious about paying for parking and believed I had followed the process totally correctly. I did not think they had provided sufficient evidence as to what had happened. For example, a screenshot of my mistyped numberplate would have satisfied me. (It reminded me of the subpostmasters' miscarriage of justice.)

I paid the £60 fine (after an aborted further appeal attempt to the independent appeals service) and I then had to sue them for reimbursement in the small claims court (which costs £35 if you're wondering, and would have cost a further £27 if it had got as far as a hearing) to get any more information out of them. They ignored my Letter Before Court Claim asking for further evidence and only finally responded to me after I had initiated proceedings.

Even then they were not straightforward and reasonable. They made every attempt to threaten and bully me into giving up the claim. They told me that they were choosing between two ways of proceeding. The first was that they would go to trial and argue in court that I was a "vexatious litigant" and, if they succeeded, they would be able to claim massive costs against me. (There is no way I would have met the criteria for being a vexatious litigant, this was just silly.)

Alternatively, they would settle the claim and then mark my fine as "unpaid" in their system and pursue me in court for the money (but £250 instead of £60). I quote: "We have no appetite to spend a disproportionate amount of time and expense disputing the small sum of £60, a claim of circa £250 at a time of our convenience would make this process more viable for us (with you being the defendant rather than the claimant)".

Nice, eh. This strategy seems pretty ridiculous too. Maybe it would be possible, although I find it hard to believe a court would look kindly on such game-playing. Also, they had tried to tell me previously that I wasn't allowed to sue them because my payment of the fine had been "full and final settlement". (I ignored that, because I thought it was something the court could decide, rather than me just taking their word for it.) If anything is full and final settlement I would have thought it would be a payment into court. They showed no interested in discussing the merits of the case in court, which I would have liked to do (even though the evidence they finally produced showed that, unknown to me, my payment in fact related to a different car park on a different day; however, I still felt it likely that their machine had been broken, and I also wanted the court to tell them they had to provide more robust proof if they wanted to dish out fines left, right and centre). All they wanted to do was scare me.

I did give up the claim, even though I hate Alliance Parking, because I value my own peace of mind more and I didn't want it to dominate the next couple of years of my life, as it threatened to. However, if anyone has more stamina I will be cheering you on.

Shame on you Alliance Parking

Shame on you Alliance Parking. I parked in Polzeath for less than half an hour, paid for an hours stay and still got a fine of £60 with 2 days to pay it.
I used to work in Polzeath many years ago so it was nice to revisit recently, I understand how important it is for local residents support during the out of season period, but after this, thanks to Alliance Parking I won't be going back.

Disabled person being charged due to being unable to move car because she was having seizures …

This company have tried sent a letter saying they are going to take us to court even though my wife who is disabled was having epileptic seizures and was obviously unable to return to the car on time. They said that I should have left her to move the vehicle within the time. After the independent review they also said that I should have left her to move the car. My wife was having seizures and unconscious in the street. What person believes it would be right to leave her to go move a car. We were 20 minutes over the time and this is the most appalling behaviour as far as I’m concerned.

Paid for 30 minutes of parking to then…

Paid for 30 minutes of parking to then receive a £100 invoice, as the camera highlighted my entrance and exit times at 35 minutes. I parked for 30 minutes. By the time I parked, obtained the ticket then left, my time in the car park was 35 minutes. Has anybody taken this company to the appropriate court and won? I'm considering seeking legal advice, as I believe the car parking signs should state entrance and exit charges, not Parking Charges.
