The experience as far as how quickly the locksmith came out in the middle of the night was great. But on the phone they quoted £80 and the locksmith charged me £106 even though he just opened the door for me. I was too tired to argue as it was 4am by this point. He also told me that the cylinder on the lock was broken and offered to replace it for an extra £32, but I decided to wait until the next day. Another locksmith came the following day and told me that there was nothing wrong with the lock that the key was just bent - when I tried my spare keys in the lock it worked. So I think they were just trying to swindle me out of even more money, and if they'd told me the truth I wouldn't have called some one else out the following day to replace the cylinder.

From the time of answering my call for their assistance, l received first class attention ,l was sent confirmation of order + time of expected arrival which was within 30mins , they arrived on time and luckily we were back into our home within minutes.. l paid up , received my riecipt by email ... job done .

Positive: the guy arrived on time
Negative: the job was to fix (if possible) or replace lock. I booked a locksmith through Fantastic Services and someone from ‘Keys4U’ turned up. The guy just about got the lock working but said it needs replacing but he didn’t have any locks with him. He insisted on my paying the £72 call out charge for a 10 minute job, then said I would have to pay again for a further call out and fitting of a new lock. I asked him to provide a quote for new lock - labour and materials and he said his boss would call me on Monday, which never happened so doubt he even knew about my request. Oh and his English language was very limited indeed. I won’t be using these again.

Sunday 14th October I was unable to unlock or open my door, I tried ringing my estate agents but unfortunately there was no answer nor could I find an emergency number on my tenant contract so my last option was a locksmith, my sister found a number and rang for a quote (£59.99) so I thought that’s good I’ll give them a ring, I can’t fault the urgency I received.
The locksmith had arrived within half hour, he managed to open the door to then tell me it would cost £400+ to repair the gearbox there on the spot but as a single mother on part time wage I wasn’t able to pay that sort of money especially when I can get a new door for less! So I politely declined explaining it was too much money, the locksmith then explained it would cost £89.99 + VAT for opening then locking the door back up, that’s nearly £110! At this point my sister was on the phone to the company office and I refused to pay when we were quoted £59.99, after a lot of arguing they offered to fix the door for £250 again I refused as I wasn’t happy with the service and then they come back with £180 to put a temporary lock on but I thought this was pointless as I could ring my estate agent tomorrow and have them sort it so in my eyes it would be a complete waste of £180 so again I refused and asked him to lock the door resulting in myself unable to attend work due to being locked in the house (losing money) £70 later I was still in the same position as I was before! Personally think they were trying to try it on with a young female thinking I’m naive and happy to pay this sort of money! Won’t be ringing this locksmith in the future if I ever do need one.
