I had an absolutely horrible experience with America Car Rental. It has now been 7 months since I cancelled my reservation and I am still waiting for my refund. The company has repeatedly failed to process the refund, despite countless emails and assurances that it would be handled.

Their customer service is incredibly unresponsive, and I’ve been left in the dark every time I reach out for an update. It's clear that they are either incompetent or intentionally scamming their customers. I have tried everything to resolve this, including providing all the required bank details and following their instructions, but I’m still no closer to getting my money back.

If you're considering renting from this company, I strongly advise against it. The risk of losing your money and getting no support is just not worth it. I will be sharing my experience on every platform I can to warn others.

Stay far away from this company!

Do not rent from this company unless you like to be treated as the prey.
I trusted this company and I paid for a rental for 4 days upfront online and when I got there they didn't have what I paid for(no vehicle like the one we agreed on full size) and tried to switch me to a way smaller vehicle in which my family and the luggage wouldn't fit, so I was forced to pick a more expensive unit which I was willing to do at the time but they came up with the big surprise of a $16,000 pesos deposit which I was not going to do at all since they are alredy making you pay for a high insurance which is supposed to be full coverage with no deductible so why would they charge so much for the deposit?.It is sad that we have to deal with this kind of situations while trying to have a good time visiting our loved ones in Monterrey.
I asked them about canceling the reservation and they pretty much told me to "F"off and to call the help center and if I was lucky enough I might get some of it back which at this point I don,t think it will happen at all.
Make sure you read the reviews about this company all over the website before you make a decision or simply never pay upfront beacuse you will not have a way out of the horrible service or get your money back.
I went a few doors down to "MEX RENT A CAR" and it was a whole different experience very professional and clear about all insurance coverages and way lower prices. Got a 2024 Volkswagen Jetta like new with very low kilometers on it just like the one I wanted from the beginning for only $296 dollars for 4 days and including full coverage 0 deductible and tires wheels and windshied protection and all for the great deposit of $75 dollars only and not $850 like the other place. Do your research people this happens a lot with America car rental just learned about it so never again.

DON'T USE AMERICA CAR RENTAL. Bait & Switch. I booked through Priceline and got a competitive rate which was the bait. When you pick up the car, they force you to buy their insurance at a crazy high rate or lose your booking with no refund leaving your stranded (the switch). Priceline did not mention this in my reservation and did not care to help correct the issue. When you call the America Car Rental headquarters, they have it all choregraphed letting you know you signed the contract when you picked up the car. Then they will reply to this review with something like "First of all, an apology for the impression caused, we would like to know more about your experience". TOTAL SCAMMERS.

Watch out for this scam by America Car Rental. One Star Rating. You must take VERY VERY careful videos and photos of the car's condition because they will scrutinize your return condition to find even the smallest flaw, including crawling under the car on your hands and knees to look for any scratches not otherwise visible with a normal inspection. If you don't have carriage underside photos they will show you undated photos on your file to say, "Look, the car had no scratches when you picked it up." They will say they sent you an email with the condition photos but they do not send it. Very hard to disprove and who takes photos of the underside of the car on their hands and knees? They cannot prove the date of their photos. So BEWARE of this scam car rental company near SJD airport. DO NOT RENT AT AMERICA CAR RENTAL. May 6, 2024.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! Even after you buy full coverage, LDW (0 deductible) They will make you buy scratch protection at 50 percent more than your rental price!

Avoid this company at all cost. They are a scam. They will cheat you somehow. And please do not let them charge your credit card for the security deposit. Here we are 3 months later and still no refund to our card - even after they advised us in writing that it was guaranteed and would be returned to us. They are cheats. I think their slogan should be "guaranteed that we will cheat you". Never ever again will we use this company and I'll make a point of telling everyone not to. BEWARE!!

I rented a mid size car online. As I could only rent the car from the airport a 600.00 Pesos ride each way was required. When I arrived all the paper work and payment was completed. Then I was taken to the car for inspection. To my surprise the car was much smaller than I had rented online and when I asked for the car I rented the agent became upset and told me that was all i could have. I complained but received no satisfaction from them. I would not use this company.

Don't rent from these people the are thieves you credit 💳 card offers insurance and the force you to get the outrageous expensive insurance they are abusive!!!

My experience with this company was easy and graceful shout out to Lesley V. for an outstanding attention.

I rented a Jeep Sahara for my stay! It was a great vehicle cruised with from Cancun to Tulum. The roads in the Tulum area and to the Cenotes are not that great but no problem for this jeep. Service was great, with a very attentive manager called Gladys.

This company, if they see you as a client who cannot be deceived and steal your money, they start to refuse you service under a false pretext. Be careful with them.

!!! Scam Alert !!! They offer the cheapest rates you will find on any rental site and they promise a ride from the airport to the site (not at the Puerto Vallarta airport) HOWEVER they won't transport you from the airport until you agree to buy their insurance. You cannot opt out. It's approximately 250% the cost of your rental. It was a whole shake down once you arrive. Opt for a car rental you have heard of.
