We have regularly sent birthday cards from the UK to family in Cork. They often don't arrive so the standard of the service is appalling. They don't deserve even one star but if there was a review system that had negative numbers starting at Minus 5, that is what they would be given. And this has happened a number of times.

The service has gone deep down the crapper. The live chat agents are genuinely useless - they refuse to even try to help and will only tell you information you can see yourself (for example, that your very delayed redirected package is not out for delivery yet), and the phone lines don't work! I spent 20 minutes on two separate attempts where after a lot of listening to the crappy hold music, the call just hangs up. Absolute time wasting assholes.

Ashbourne An post has to be the most awful experience with staff constantly rude to customers. How do they get employment. I've gone in for my nanny so often as she is afraid to ask for a postage stamp as they're so rude. They actually barely say a word. Just roll their eyes at customers

I posted a parcel from Virginia PO (Cavan) on 12th February to a Dublin address. Tracking said ‘in transit’ on 13th February but no update since then. I’ve spent the last week trying to find out where it is via the incompetent staff who operate their Webchat and WhatsApp, always staff who won’t provide their names. They said that they have sent an enquiry to the mail centre over a week ago, but haven’t received a response. I was told I’d receive an email but over a week later, nothing. When I engage with them, I get zero empathy, no answers to my questions and made to feel like I’m an annoyance. They just say “there are no updates”, or “it must have missed a scan”. I’m asking them for the update!!!
When I ask them if they cannot simply phone their colleagues in the mail centre, I get “we don’t have phone numbers for the mail centres”. What?!!?
What organisation doesn’t have a list of names and numbers for all areas of the organisation?
It smacks of laziness and complete disregard and disrespect for customers.
Surely An Post has a clearly defined procedure for delivering a parcel from A to B, with an inventory of all the separate places it will go through. So, it beggars belief that they cannot ‘track’ where a parcel is along that chain. It should be simple. Ring up the mail centre, ask someone to go and look for it, it’s not rocket science. But they just couldn’t be bothered and make you feel like a pariah for asking where your parcel has gone missing to. A shockingly substandard service. I’m a mixture of livid and bewildered. Completely disgraceful.

We had a package sent to us in Dublin by a company in the UK last December. It incurred VAT plus the An Post fee, which we payed on receiving the notice. Three months later, despite having contacted An Post three times, the item is lost, they tell me, although on their tracking site it's still marked that we have paid the customs charge and the item will be delivered as soon as possible. No idea if our customs charge will be reimbursed, or if we will be able to get compensated for the lost item.
EDIT March 1st 2026: I spoke with An Post on the phone on Friday; the person was very friendly and said the best course of action was to ask the sender to contact the Royal Mail to see if they had the package. Before I could do that, the sender emailed today to say that the item has arrived back in the UK.
EDIT MARCH 18th. An Post requested that we send them the correspondence from the sender, who told us the item had returned back to them and that they would give us a refund. We sent this information but received another email from An Post (and a standard letter) saying that they would need to see correspondence from the sender before they could process our query. Also they want evidence that the sender in the UK opened an official query with the Royal Mail. It was not the Royal Mail but An Post that raised the customs charge, before sending the item back to the sender. This has now been going on for four months without a resolution. An Post, please sort this out.

I received notification from An Post that they had received a package from Amazon (UK) and would deliver it on the next working day. Today I received an email stating the package had been delivered. I checked both my An Post letter box and a second Drop Box (which couriers use) at my gate and both were empty. According to the email I received from An Post the package was delivered at 10.27am so I checked the CCTV footage which clearly covers the entire entrance area and I confirm that no An Post vehicle or a vehicle from anyone else came near my gate between 10am and 3pm today, Mon 23rd February. I contacted an post and got absolutely no reply from their chat bot. I'm now doing the following. I am removing the official an post letter box from the entrance to my property as there is no point having it if deliveries into it cannot be trusted, bearing in mind An Post charged me for this letter box. I'm also contacting Amazon for a full refund as regardless of An Post saying they delivered the item I have undisputable proof that absolutely no mail or deliveries of any kind were made to this property up to now 3pm,Mon 23rd February. Copy of this review will be forwarded to Amazon. The tracking number for this item is-AYO21326382IE and the order number-TNHYQP4QB_I
Update: I have now taken a closer look at the CCTV footage and can confirm the An Post van drove up the lane passing my gate at 10.27am and came back down the lane driving past my gate at 10.34am.At no point did it stop at my gate, so the claim that a delivery was made to my property today is a bare face lie. Update 2: Neighbour has just come down to hand me the package in question that an post delivered to their property instead of mine. As my post code is clearly on my post box which is in full view as you come up the lane and each letter of the post code is 6 ins its beyond me how anyone could make a mistake and delivery it elsewhere or could it be a case of laziness as the other person had mail of their own delivered also so why get out of a van twice when once will do. Will definitely now be removing An post mail box as having it is pointless, the other drop box I have will do just as good.

Two lost packages this year so far and we’re still in February. Lied to for 4 days in a row, promised the latest item was not lost just delayed. A week later they’re saying it’s lost. Customer service are completely clueless. Really the worst postal/courier service I’ve ever dealt with.

They always deliver at my address, but this time they said that they couldn't find me there because I'm not known at the address. What a joke. All the details are correct, I can't trust an post

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the delivery of my parcel.
This morning, I checked the tracking information online and the parcel appeared as “delivered”, which was not correct. I had not received the parcel, nor had I received any call or contact from the delivery driver.
I visited the post office to enquire about the situation and was informed that the parcel had already been delivered. I was told that it had been placed in my mailbox, which was also inaccurate, as I checked the mailbox and the parcel was not there at that time.
However, when I checked again the following morning, I found the parcel left on top of the mailbox. This item required a signature upon delivery, yet it was left unattended without any attempt to obtain a signature or ensure secure handover.
I am concerned about this handling of my delivery, as it was incorrectly marked as delivered and left unsecured despite requiring a signature. I would appreciate if this matter could be investigated and clarification provided on the delivery procedure followed in this case.
Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Anpost was supposed to deliver my order today, and everytime is the same thing, they say they wont be delivering the package and dont give a reason for it. It was supposed to be delivered today, but now they will probably only delivery it on Monday and I needed my package for the weekend. It is so annoying, because I am waiting for it for over 4 days already, and my package is with them since today morning and now they say it is not going to be delivered.
