I was travelling with my elderly Grandfather, and by using Apex we had a shorter less stressful walk from the airport than if we had used one of the bigger companies. The shuttle bus was great and there were no delays. The check in and out was painless and quick. Thank you Apex.

Just returned from Australia where I hired a car from Apex in Brisbane & returned it in Cairns.We had a small problem to start in that I couldn't get the GPS to power up from the Aux power outlet, but after being shown where another one was, I was up & away. The car ran great, it was a 2012 car, driving from Brisbane to Cairns & doing around 2,000k's in 17 days. Pickup from Brisbane airport was fast & the drop off to Cairns was quick as well, the check out was fast & so was the check in. Value for money was good, much better that any other top company. Plus I was not hit for returning to a different depot. Thank you Apex

We have been renting a car from Apex Sydney airport branch for the past 7 months. The brakes on the car failed twice in the past 24 hours, but inevitably - as can happen with mechanical faults -- worked when the NRMA guy came out to check them (he drove it up and down the street, didn't inspect it, and declared it roadworthy.) Apex have said they will replace the car, but only if we drive it to the airport ourselves, or pay to have it towed there and then arrange our own transport out there to collect the alternative. This is totally unacceptable and their 'customer service' is by far the worst I have encountered from any company. The guy I spoke to in the Sydney office was rude, dismissive, sarcastic, patronising and unhelpful. He said I was being "hysterical" and "wrought" because I didn't want to drive a car with faulty brakes, he repeatedly referred to my account of the brakes failing as "your opinion" and refused to escalate my complaint to anyone at a more senior level. Appalling.

all started great with easy car reservation/hire/drive. when i realized i'm going to be late for my return i called in and asked if this was a problem or if it was ok to return the car later. the girl said yeah, no worries, just be sure to be there by 5pm when we close.
i was, to the minute, sure to find an access charge for an extra day and an email asking if i wouldn't mind the extra charge - when the charge had already taken place.
guys, this is not ok. after sending 2 emails with no response for clarifications i finally got an answer by email saying the charge was correct - no mentioning that i had called in and confirmed the late return - which had never been a problem with other car rental co's.

as said, great at first, sucked big time on customer service in the end.

Have used Apex three times now and about to use again

service has been great in all the locations ,New Zealand , Brisbane and Sydney
we are grateful to the staff for their help and service as nothing seemed a bother to them

Was very unhappy to find when we arrived at Sydney Airport that there were no clear instructions on our confirmation as to how we could collect our car outside their office hours (flight was delayed which meant that we arrived after 5pm when their office closed).
Managed to find out that we needed to go to a Park n Fly 15 mins outside the airport.
Finally got there to find that our car wasn't and that tge guys there didn't have any confirmation from Apex of our rental. Apparently this happens all the time with Apex!!!
What annoyed me the most was the next day when I called their office to make sure that we wouldn't get charged and spoke to a girl who was clearly in a hurry to get me off the phone and couldn't even be bothered to apologise for all the trouble we had!
My advice to Apex...sort your stuff out!
Budget car rentals were amazing and i will definately be using them in future rather than Apex..

Clean and shiny almost new 4WD for much better rate than the Big Name rental agencies. No hidden charges, and nice Cairns staff that took time to familiarize me with the car. Real test was when I returned it after a week, not so clean and shiny anymore, and major dent in left front fender from a hidden stump in a caravan park. Fearing my travel budget was going to be bigtime impacted by paying for the damage, overjoyed when staffer reached inside fender and punched it back out, almost good as new, no problem and no extra charge. These folks rock.

I am in cairns on holiday right now and have apex hire car. I found the service so far to be exceptional. the cairns branch was very busy on Friday 8/11/13 when I picked car up but staff member pamelaH still found the time to come and pick me up as I had been dumped on the street by a useless bus driver at a spot which turned out to be quite a long way from the apex depot. so I would recommend apex to anyone DAVE FROM MOONTA SA

Rented in Cairns. Apex offers free baby seats which is very attractive to a young family. Car seats were not ready on arrival. The Kiwi lady who was the most senior staff member fitted the tWo baby seats in less than 2 minutes. When i went up to inspect them she poclaimed, "just remeber i am not a registered fitter". The seats could have been fixed with nothing but sticky tape they were that loose. I am not a safety nut but i have never seen anything like it....... after a heated arguement she ended up conceding one of the chairs was faulty but i stress.....If you have kids do not go with these guys!!!
Customer service was appalling.
One customer was forced to pay double the quoted price because he had a debit credit card. He kept saying that this is not an issue with any other hire service and is not made clear on the apex webpage
When we checked the car in the man who drives you from the yard to the airport said they always have people who miss their flights becaus they are not aware the yard does not open until 8am.

In August I hired a Mitsubishi from Brisbane airport to Cairns airport using the 'works' package and was more than happy with the whole experience. The pickup from Brisbane airport was very efficient , the checkout from their garage not far away was fast and efficient. the sat nav supplied was excellent and the vehicle was brand new. At Cairns the hand back was swift with no problems and we were efficiently dropped off at the airport. I really liked the total transparency; no hidden credit card, temporary registration fees or any of the other rips that the bigger car hire firms rip off the customer with. Next time I'm in Oz I shall use Apex and I really recommend them.

We have used Apex a number of times when travelling back to NZ. There was no other choice when we found out they're up and running in Australia. No hidden extras and the website gives you 3 options before booking ie excess etc. Keep up the great work.

We have used Apex in New Zealand and found them completely hassle free. So when we got an email saying they were now in Australia and we were to visit family there we gave them a try.
Quick and easy to navigate website some had us soon booked and sorted. At their Melbourne depot we soon had paid checked the car and were on our way. Both family members where added as additional drivers with a quick phone call. Easy after hours drop off and shuttle from local hotel.
No hesitation in using Apex again as well as recommending them to friends and family.

being 3 weeks short of 25 not many car companies wanted to look at me unless they added around $20 p/day on top of the asking price, apex however gave me a good rate and didnt wack the surcharge on top. i really liked that they didnt take a holding fee either which can be troublesome if your on a budget.
we were met with a smile and treated outstandingly. i would recommend apex to anyone, and will definitely be using them next time we need.

Having spent a couple of hours on a couple of dozen websites looking for a hire car in Cairns, I absolutely recommend Apex. Not only were their prices significantly better than most, the experience on the website was efficient and clear - easily the best of the sites I visited. The quote facility was particularly good.

We used Apex rentals recently on our trip to the lucky country, my wife booked everything online ,wich was so painless. On our arrival we made the call and were picked up ,given our car and GPS and away we went, and on our return dropped the car off and we were delivered back to the airport. Absolutely amazing service and we intend to use Apex again next year on our return, thanks again to the staff at Apex for your help, you're all awesome.

We were thrilled with our experience with Apex Brisbane. We hired an 8 seater Hyundai, which had a child and booster seat AND GPS included in the rental. From the moment we picked up the vehicle on 29 Jan this year until it was returned we were just so impressed. The shuttle service to and from the airport, the very plesant office staff, the very easy to understand rental agreement in plain language. We knew exactly what our responsibilities were and the companies. The vehicle was in excellent condition and was so suitable for the 4 adults and 2 children. And at last a website to hire the vehicle that didnt require a nerd to complete. If I would, anyone could.

Thank Apex. We have told everyone of our experience with your company. I have no doubt business will come from some of those people, either here in NZ or when they go to Australia.

so far iam very impressed as to the ease of understanding the the internet booking system no jargon which is great.To have someone ask if there is anything else they can assist with is very rare these days.Iam looking forward to coming to Australia very much and i have the knowledge of knowing that my vehichle will be waiting.

Won't bother looking up anyone else for the next trip. From internet booking to virtual signoff without having to print, sign, scan and send the agreement, to a friendly call just before starting the journey to ensure I know where to pick up the car after hours, to the excellent condition of the car, to charging just the right amount when I didn't return the car with tank full, Apex impressed me enough to write a review which I am otherwise too lazy to do

Latest model Hyundai Elantra was clean, comfortable, economical, and drove well. The shuttle bus pick-up and drop-off is easier than the usual system of doing it all at the airport where traffic is congested, signs are confusing and everyone is up tight.
The GPS navigator was good, but I'm old fashionned and prefer a street directory.

I recently hired 2 eight seater vans from these guys ,the service was spot on. Even with child & baby seats, They went out of their way to help , they picked us up from the airport with the vehicles because the shuttle bus didnt have enough child seats.
