To celebrate our one-year wedding…

To celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary, Verity surprised us with a Twilight spa experience at Aqua Sana Spa Nottingham. Last night, we drove over to start our epic journey into relaxation.

We were handed a glass of cava upon entry, which immediately put us in the right mindset – the “fancy and slightly tipsy” mindset. With 25 different spa experiences to choose from, our mission was to conquer as many as humanly possible in four hours. Challenge accepted.

We dove into everything from volcanic steam baths to ice body scrubs, and let me tell you, my skin now feels like it’s auditioning for a skincare commercial. The highlight for me was the rainforest room, which gets warmer and steamier until it starts raining on you as you sit on wooden logs. It’s like being in the Amazon, minus the terrifying mosquito.

If you’re looking for a spa experience that will make you feel pampered and slightly ridiculous, Aqua Sana is the place to be.

Sherwood Forest venue

Sherwood Forest venue

I have very mixed feelings.
I travel 2hrs to attend this Spa (due to Carlisle, 2nd nearest, being love-island’esque/ party branch and ridiculously chavvy. The clientele are intolerable!)

I was held at the front gate for an extreme amount of time due to my name not being on their check-list. This was because I had paid over the phone and therefore hadn’t received a confirmation email. Eventually I suggested they call the spa, and was finally permitted in. This started my visit with slight irritation but soon shook off with the beautiful trees surrounding and walk up to the spa entrance. It’s amazing what the fresh air can do.
Sadly, that initial feeling was heightened by the obnoxious staff member that greeted me at the front desk. Her manner left much to be desired, and she was clueless that I had already booked and paid for a treatment. For unknowing reasons, she was purposely obstructive, with a very poor attitude, rude and certainly needed re-training in customer service.

I politely requested a bag (usually given) to carry my book and bits around in and was told there weren’t any, with a shrug and ‘tough’ manner. I asked if I may have a sales one as I had planned to purchase on leaving (this didn’t happen due to staff manners/ lack of), and was refused with an unpleasant glare suggesting ‘get lost’. Eyebrows raised and biting my tongue I took myself to the changing rooms, adamant it wouldn’t spoilt my spent money.

The cafe staff remedied this with their warm smiles and kind attitudes. They snook and got me a bag and were incredibly hospitable (bar the manager- who also had a poor and overly blunt attitude with a lack of desire to help)

This spa is stunning.
Plenty of places to escape, disappear and avoid people. More mature attendees allow for correct spa etiquette and good manners, respect and an equal desire to just want to be left alone…..utter bliss.
I highly recommend day time attendance for this kind of energy.
People attend solo, with a friend or as a couple, but everyone here is well behaved on the whole.

I have been attending this spa for 3years now, therefore feel I can appropriately comment on changes I have observed. Over these years I have noticed the wear and tear showing through, little things that made a huge difference have been lost (surely not money saving?!), and it needs a good deep clean again.
Nordic room (materials within) stank of damp, sweat and unpleasantness.. the campsite fire room is too chilly and the fruit infused water was less available than before and tasted strongly of tap water. . . I do hope each of these can be reversed and kept on top of.
Diffusers used to be throughout, allowing THE most pleasant scent and calming energy.. not anymore.

My main disappointment however was the treatments.. for the price demanded, you would expect such a spa to offer modern and effective brands, services and options. This spa solely uses the prehistoric brand: Elmis. Any skin lady will know, this is naff. The facials are basic at most, having you leave feeling the urge for a good scrub with your own products. EXTREMELY disappointing and I urge Aqua Sana to review this urgently!
These days customers desire: LED devices, Cryotherapy, micro rolling, IR, effective brands for ALL ages (elmis is renowned for 60+ skin!!)

Lunch: The food was exceptional but should have been included (?) I found myself somehow paying (?)

All in all….. beautiful spa, off-putting welcome staff, overly priced for the cut backs being clearly made, drastic improvement needed for the treatment menu & some manners would go a long way.

Disappointing

The spa is lovely
Lots of different experiences and lovely relaxing calm chill areas
Food was ok
Over priced treatments

We booked 6 30 minute treatments between 3 of us
Not one lasted more than 20 minutes
We were all out in the chill out area in under 25 minutes
These were £62 each
As a therapist myself I was bitterly disappointed. If you state 30 minute masssge you should get 30 minutes
You then book the next treatment 5 minutes after the end of the last one to give you wiggle room to prepare for next client
You do not offer value for money in this department and would definitely not recommend any one bothering to include a treatment on their visit to the spa
This is obviously a standard procedure as all the treatments were the same

Mediocre treatments received

Lots of small things disappointing also-
No real explanation of what to do or how spa worked (first time visiting) or what was included on the day
Some of the younger staff were a bit abrupt and rude and stood around chatting a lot
Soap dispensers empty in several toilets etc
Not really what you expect when you’ve spent over £200 each for a spa day

Would probably go again but definitely not book treatments and do half a day

Warning to anyone who has Coeliac…

Warning to anyone who has Coeliac Disease.
The Spa here have very limited Gluten Free options on their menu.
For breakfast you can have either a Berry Muffin or a Chocolate Browie.
For lunch the only thing on offer is a salad.
Not very substantial for anyone staying either overnight or on a full day in a Spa Facility.

I had two treatments, one being the Swedish body massage and the overall experience was a pleasent one as always. Thank you, Deb for being a total joy! I felt more relaxed afterwards and family were complimenting my glowing skin.

Extremely disappointed!

I booked a Mind, Body & Sole treatment for my daughter as a birthday treat at the end of our 7 day holiday. This is advertised as a 55 minute treatment, costing £99. I know exactly what this treatment entails as I have another daughter who worked at Aqua Sana, in a variety of locations, for many years and I have also visited many of these for treatments myself. The treatment started late, was absolutely nothing like as advertised, and also finished early. It lasted barely 45 minutes! I'm extremely annoyed and disappointed as, not only are the treatments expensive, but this was a special birthday present for my daughter. We certainly WON'T be returning to Elveden Center Parks or their Aqua Sana!

Very disappointing!

Being a massive fan of spas was so excited about this visit, however I have to say that for the price, I came away, hugely disappointed. Whilst he decor is beautiful, the rest of it was a let down.

The food options were particularly poor. As someone who avoids gluten the only hot food option was a Panini on gluten-free bread. There was no soup or other hot food option as the entire range of GF pasta was not available. The only desserts were incredibly unhealthy sugar laden cakes which seemed paradoxical to a detox spa day!

Most of the spa rooms that we visited with the exception of two had awful synthetic fragrances coming through the filter system which was the same in the general areas too. Added into this, a large group of staff were standing around talking in the quiet area right beside a woman who was clearly resting despite there being a staff room in the area just behind that.

Basically I paid £120 to use just two of the many sauna/steam rooms, the outdoor hot tub and the outdoor small jacuzzi pool, and received an incredibly poor lunch. Will not be going back, Bishopstrow is much better!

We had a Twighlight package at Sherwood…

We had a Twighlight package at Sherwood . On arrival, the reception person was very organised with our labels and a bag, checking if we had been before and needed a run through or not. We went in the cafe first after getting into our robes and had gorgeous salads and Prosecco. The server couldn’t have been any more helpful, she was so attentive and brought extra sauce (Her name was Carol) . There were plenty of staff around in the actual spa throughout if needed. Got straight into a shower after and plenty of room to get changed (open plan area) . Aldo hair dryers if needed. I’ve been a few times and will go again .

The space is pleasant but the treatment wasn't

The space is very pleasant, although not as quiet as I expected in the restings areas.

I do not recommended the VOYA Calm Seas Massage. Paid £99 for it and all I got was my back, calves, hands, and feet oiled but no massage. The only 'sea' element were seaweed bandages on feet and hand. The therapist was sneezing and very snotty throughout so that may be the reason the treatment didn't go well, I don't know, but I won't be doing it again.

Anniversary Spa Day

Me and my wife have been to our fair share of Spa’s over the year but always find ourselves back at Centre Parcs, Aqua Sana. We’ve been to a few of them but find Sherwood Forest is the best one, which is conveniently the closest at around 50 mins away. It’s not the cheapest for a Spa but it is the best!

We went on Sat 7th Oct as a wedding anniversary gift to ourselves and loved it.

I had an amazing scalp massage from Tracey, which was super relaxing. She was polite and professional and my experience was that of luxury, which is what you expect from Aqua Sana. Can’t wait to go back, first class as always!

Awful. Over crowded and least relaxing spa I have experienced

Awful spa. Very crowded and no place which was quiet. Visitors constantly talking in sleep areas. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they explained it is a social spa so people come here to chat and catch up. The spa was so busy that room doors in steam rooms were constantly being opened and closed, as people realised it was full. Unhelpful staff who were standing around doing very little.
The pool was for standing in rather than swimming and there were wait times for most of the rooms.
I left after an hour and a half as I was getting so frustrated with the overall experience.
Blankets were left all over the place which felt like you were getting into someone else’s bed sheets. Not the calm and relaxing experience I was hoping for.
If you don’t mind crowds and noise then it’s fine!

Disappointing

I booked the twilight package at Longleat on a Saturday and it was incredibly busy. Too busy for it to be relaxing. The changing rooms were so busy I had to get changed with my things on the floor.

Two young members of staff were chasing each other round the spa and screaming, it wasn't the relaxing environment I was hoping for.

Misleading and dishonest pricing

I tried to book a spa day on a Friday. Prices were listed as being 'From £89' with a breakdown that prices were £89 Monday - Friday and then higher at a weekend (as you'd expect).

When I went to book the day, the price was £15 per person more than quoted.

I phoned up to query this and after being on hold for 20 mins, I was told that prices were listed as being 'from' so sometimes the price is more than quoted.

I then asked if there were any other days Monday to Friday that I could book for the quoted price. The answer?...'no'.

Going to a Spa should be a relaxing and pleasant experience. Opaque pricing results in disquiet and irritation. Aqua Sana should be more respectful of their clients and be honest and transparent.

Went to Aqua Sana Longleat a fortnight…

Went to Aqua Sana Longleat a fortnight ago. My daughter and myself had spent nearly £700 on a spa day with lunch and a two hour treatment each. The spa was absolutely packed with hundreds of people there making it very noisy and busy and not at all relaxing. When my daughter went for her £160 treatment she was left waiting with no sign of a therapist. After ten minutes of her treatment time waiting she went to search for a member of staff. They kept her waiting a further ten minutes and then came back to say the therapist wasn’t feeling well and so she would not get the treatment we had booked two months prior. We had no apology and considering my daughter had travelled from Scotland for our special day we were both very unhappy with this. An offer of a piece of cake seemed slightly insulting !
I emailed the company who replied with an offer of a twilight spa. This was not the reason we had this booked with the treatment being the main reason for our visit. The spa day was of no interest to us as we had found it anything but relaxing with the noise and crowds that they cram in.
Aqua Sana clearly have no consideration for their customers and clearly are just all about cramming people into an extremely overpriced spa. Avoid this place at all costs !!

Saturday very busy

Don’t go on a Saturday so loud noisy busy.
......groups of women walking or sitting talking so loud even tho guidelines said respect for lowering your voice.....it’s a Spa not a night out ....plus people walking around with no slippers or any footwear, floors wet everywhere I know as I slipped & had to grab onto my daughter’s arm...the spa should def make people have something on their feet or someone is going to have an accident & claim damages, every other spa I have visited you must have something on your feet.... it lowered their standards I felt....... packed infinity pool again men women chatting so loud......breakfast, lunch ok 👍 nice treatments by lovely girls....Louise & Maisie.....not sure how it is mid week when people are working but imagine weekends busy.....sunbathed as very hot day which was lucky

Sauna and steam rooms

Five of us arrived at the spa for our 3 hour session. First impressions were good, nice decor, gowns and towels were provided along with a bag to keep our towels in whilst at the spa. The changing rooms were nice and clean, but lacked private changing facilities. We decided to walk around the perimeter of the spa firstly and visited a nice steam room and sauna. We continued around the perimeter and visited another steam room and sauna and then another, then another. I’m not sure how many there was, but we spent much of our time looking for different experiences. We were unable to get into the hot tubs because they were ALWAYS full. Only 2 hot tubs for many many guests was not enough. There was a pool with a bubbled area, but wasn’t warm enough to pass as a hot tub. The only different experiences we could find was an ice room with a pile of crushed ice in a tiny frozen room. Some foot spas that took a long time to fill and and then emptied after about a minute and wasn’t particularly impressive. What we did find tho was beds, lots of beds, some with wet sheets and blankets, the heated beds were nice, but other than that we were a little bewildered looking around to see people sleeping. I’m not saying it’s bad, I could always do with more sleep, but find it a little confusing that people can slumber in a crowded spa, whilst listening to music? We were bored after an hour and decided to go for a bite to eat. The cafe was nice and served nice cocktails, we had a panini, which was ok, but no there was no sauces available, which made it pretty bland. We were promised a Caesar sauce, but after waiting about 25 mins we paid our bill and left feeling a little disappointed. All in all it was a decent spa, but after all the reviews we had read, we were expecting so much more. We left feeling disappointed and £65 out of pocket.
