Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the subscription model, finding it difficult to cancel and often leading to unexpected charges or billing discrepancies. Customers also reported issues with product access, such as purchased books becoming unavailable or requiring repurchase. The customer service was frequently criticized for being unhelpful, difficult to reach, and providing automated responses rather than human assistance. Payment issues, including unexpected charges and difficulties in removing payment information, were also a common complaint. Reviewers also found the website challenging to navigate, particularly when trying to find desired titles or manage their accounts. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with customer service, highlighting quick issue resolution and polite interactions. A few other people also felt that the books themselves were great.

Spent over 56 mins on the phone with…

Spent over 56 mins on the phone with Audible. They could not answer why my side kept telling me I was ineligible for the sign up offer. I sent 4 emails with screen shots to them. Was told they never received them. Kept asking me to resend them. Wanted to sign me up without the introductory offer. Kept asking to use my CC. But could not address why I was ineligible. Offered to give the the sign up offer for $22 per month vs $14.95 per month if I wanted the 2 credits for 2 free books. Kept telling me once I get the books, they are mine for a lifetime even after I cancel the program. Finding out from other reviews that is false information.

Sneaky

I will always leave negative reviews for businesses that do anything sneaky. If I could leave zero stars I would. You would think that you may not need to return an audio book. However, if you get a book that isn't playing correctly, in another language, or is simply misrepresented and garbage... then you'd want your money back. Right? Me, too. Welllllll, you can make a return on Audible HOWEVER,
You must be an active Audible Premium Plus member in good standing.
You’re making the return within 365 days of its purchase date.
You purchased the title with an Audible credit.
In other words, because I used CASH MONEY instead of a credit, I couldn't get my money back for literally the WORST book I've read in history. I've read eleventy billion (Yes, I know that's not a number. I'm trying to immerse you here. Stay with me.) books and this was seriously the worst book I've encountered in my life. It was represented as one thing but it was entirely another. No refund for me :(

Returns for Premium + members only

Returns for Premium + members only
I bought 2 different editions of the same book by mistake and found that I am unable to return the accidental purchase as I am not a Premium+ member
Signed up for a free trial of that membership only to find that I can only return books that were "Purchased" using membership credits.
So there is NO option to return a product you paid for.

Predatory at best!

Dont deserve one star! Their promotions are scammy considering once you take it, nowhere can you look to see when it expires so you have time to cancel beforehand if you choose! I mean Nowhere in the app can you locate this information……. went on amazon, still cannot locate this information! This is predatory and a class action lawsuit will eventually be filed for this practice!

Be very careful before signing up for Audible. It is difficult to end your subscription. I have tried unsubscribing, responding “Cancel” and marking it as “spam.” After paying for three months, I went to audible.com and was finally able to unsubscribe. Never again.

Indian Givers

So, Audible ran a promotion between October 2025 and February 2026 offer a $15 credit for anyone who made three purchases using their monthly credits. Even though I was pruchasing at least one title monthly already you still needed to sign up to the promotion to be eligible. Anyway, I managed to complete my 3 purchases later January and received my $15 Credit. Just checked my balance and now it's not there. Raised a concern after going through numerous dead ends in their help pages and then Automated Chat. Eventuatually got through to a human who informed me the promotion credits were only available until March 2nd! So, give you a nice present, then steal it back when you aren't watching. No notice given, no warning signs on their main page. just take it away like a thief in the night. Thanks Audible! Definatelly looking at alternative providers if this is how they treat people.

To be honest 1 star is to much

To be honest 1 star is to much. This company have predatory practices that make some predatory journals to seem legit. Impossible to contact and keeps charging even after you have cancelled all subscriptions.

Exploits user vulnerability. I have been an audible listener since the beginning and this was a great app but now credits expire if you cancel your membership- i.e. like having a gift card that expires if you don't keep paying for it. The updates are terrible- you can't see your library without being pestered by ads for other books. Honestly, it's too bad but way better to go to the library and use Libby.

Serious question

Serious question: does Audible actively search for the most clueless, awful, rude, childish and incompetent jobseekers on earth to offer them a job as a customer service rep on the Audible online chat and phone support?

I've had a technical issue for over a year with the Audible app. OVER A YEAR. I've never had one competent exchange with anyone in Audible in over 30 conversations, on chat and by phone, to diagnose it with the brainpower above a 3 year old, let alone get close to having a fix.

How can Audible management knowingly inflict such people on us? How can these employees behave like this and not feel disgustingly ashamed at their behaviour? It just beggars belief.

I’m extremely disappointed with Audible…

I’m extremely disappointed with Audible after my recent experience.

For months I was unknowingly paying for two separate subscriptions — Audible UK and Audible US. As soon as I realized, I contacted customer service hoping for a reasonable solution. Unfortunately, the support I received was completely unhelpful.

There was no option to merge the accounts, no way to transfer credits, and no possibility to move the books I had already paid for. Essentially, I was told nothing could be done, despite the fact that this is clearly a situation that many international users could run into.

Considering how much I’ve paid into the service, this rigid and inflexible response is incredibly frustrating. It feels very customer-unfriendly and honestly makes the whole experience feel like a money trap.

I regret signing up and expected much better from a company of this size. I hope Audible seriously improves its account management and customer support policies, because right now the experience is far from acceptable.

Audible is a decent app and industry…

Audible is a decent app and industry standard but it annoys me that my book recommendations are so off. Every time I login, it’s telling me to listen to Harry Potter or some romantic novel which is not even remotely close to my book profile. Given the revenue you must be generating, the lack of attention to these matters can only lead me to believe that leadership is lazy and or incompetent. Leading me to search for a new listening service.

If you need help, forget it

I lost an 8-year library of over 100 books because my Audible app, downloaded from Google Play 8 years ago, did not sync to my Amazon account and Audible couldn't figure out why. I can provide evidence of 8 years of subscription payment history but Amazon says I'm not a subscriber. My listening experience great but their customer service is non-existent. If you have a problem just give up

They lure you in with a ''Free Trial''

I started a free trial period because it showed me I could listen the book I wanted to listen to for free, and wanted to give listening to Audio books a try. I set up my account and fill in the information needed.

When I search for the book again I had wished to listen to, it showed me I had to pay €9 to be able to listen to it.

Seems like false advertising to me.

Signed up for the free trial

Signed up for the free trial with option to cancel before 30 days. I could not use the service as I had intended so I tried to cancel. Through their app, I was encouraged to pause rather than cancel. I elected that option. Now they charged me and told me that you can not pause during the free trial. The customer service reps attempted to sell me a different membership rather than refund the charge. They claimed that I could not have paused the service and were dishonest about what the app offers. DO NOT sign up with Audible. As others have stated, they have NO honest customer support.

I have used audible for years…

I have used audible for years, and only recently realized that books I purchased years ago are missing! I called to complain and they want evidence, only to learn the app is 3rd party and provides no usable information…you have to buy directly from website to verify old purchases. I lost 8 credits and a $7.99 purchase…credits are $13+

Loved the app until they couldn’t knowledge I didn’t start the series on book 10.
