They try to fool you at every possibility. You get online a car with insurance, but they try to get you an insurance of 10x the original cost before you arrive.
When we brought the car back, they tried to let us pay 3 damages of which 2 already present before and 1 under the car.
Overall unfriendly, unkind, no interest in the client whatsoever.

When we returned the vehicle they claimed to find 'new damage,' a total of $850 which was all cosmetic. Do not rent from Avant in Croatia. They are crooks.

It's been over a month and my father in law still haven't got his deposit back. Other people in the family who rented their cars from other companies on the same holiday got their money back in less than a week. Its a scam. They keep your money as long as they can.

Excellent car hire company. Over the last 20 years I have hired numerous cars all over Europe and the U.S.A and this company is by far the best.

We returned the car in the exact same condition that we received it. Still they wanted to keep the EUR1500 deposit from my colleague's credit card for another 30 days!

I have rented a car in the high season mid August and I was very delighted with the service. I was with two young children and was very satisfied that it took less than 10 minutes to get the car. The staff at the desk was very helpful and adequate.
The car was in perfect condition, just didn't find the spare tire but we didn't need it anyway :-).

No extra charge for drop-off outside office hours.
I got a message in the same morning with a confirmation on the condition of the car.

Car rented from 31 July to 15 August with return before office opening.
Very friendly, clear and helpful staff.
No extra charge for drop-off outside office hours.
At the opening they immediately gave feedback on the return.

Worst customer service that I’ve ever experienced. Do not use this rental company.

We booked the car through a website Booking.com as it was one of the best offers in terms of price. We picked the car in Split Downtown and returned it at the Split airport.

The car we were given was fairly new, it had a total milage of only 5.000 km. We were very satistfied with both the comfort and the engine. The quick accelaration was spot on for Croatian roads. The car was clean.

Before taking off we went around it to look for scratches. We agreed that there were some minor scratches.

When returning the car at te Split airport we were greeted by a positive, smiling young lady who checked the car for damage/scartches. No remarks were made. Everything was fine.

Same experience as with any other better known car rental company such as Avis, Hertz, Sixt etc.

Terrible company.
We hired a car from Dubrovnik airport given a car we actually hadn’t booked and explained we needed to pay an extra 300 plus euros to insure, even though we had already paid extra.
Which they explained didn’t cover costs.

Given a car that had multiple scratches over it, which no doubt previous hirers had paid for repairs but not done.

The car couldn’t handle the steep hills and had no guts, it was a dangerous car and when called for help they made us feel like we were in the wrong. Terrible customer service they should be ashamed of themselves.

We ended up not using the car the whole stay and it was to stressful to drive. DONT WASTE your money with this company.

On returning the price, they checked whether I had taken out excess insurance with them, and then claimed that two completely superficial, barely noticeable scratches on the back bumper (which you could get out with T-Cut in 3 minutes) were new damage. And would cost £400 to remedy. You have no leverage (of course I hadn't taken a photo of "the damage" to begin with, as it was barely noticeable) and a flight to catch, so just have to suck it up and pay.

On the escalator into departures at Zagreb, I was explaining to my child what had happened and another guy piped up and said the same thing had happened to him.

Fraudsters. Avoid.

Bad company. We had to pay another insurance on 154 euro even though we already bought insurance with Rentalcars

Hassle free and no queue at the collection desk. Car was better than I expected and clean inside. Also no issues on return, colleague checked the car and deposit returned within 15 mins. Didn't pressure me for extra insurance etc which I have experience at other car hire companies. All round great service and can't understand all the negative reviews!

I do not recommend to use this company!!! The Insurance is extremely expensive. I paid 160€ for one week after I even had paid for insurance via Carflexi. Last minute rental took 12€ for the same insurance in comparison. I found the AvantCar employees unpolite with no interest to show any kind of customer service.

I have rented cars and driven throughout the U.S., Europe, Great Britain and, now, Croatia.
Having just completed our Croatian trip, I will happily rent through Avant Car again. They helped to make our trip a great one.
We rented for 14 days. We paid 718 Euros, which included the car rental (a 2023 VW T-cross), the one-way drop-off fee (Picked up in Dubrovnik, dropped off in Zagreb), full insurance coverage and a pre-paid tank of fuel (so we didn't need to hunt for a gas station before drop-off).
We drove approximately 1,600 kms and consumed 112 Euros of fuel (this includes the prepaid tank of gas at drop-off).
We booked our rental 6 months in advance of our trip and Avant's email communication was great (Thanks, Filip:).
We picked up the car in downtown Dubrovnik and the Avant Representative was warm and welcoming. He gave us great advice about a few places to stop on the first day of the drive. He was efficient and had us in the vehicle and on our way in good order (Thanks, Christian).
Returning the vehicle, at the Zagreb Airport, was easy and quick. The rental return parking lot is only a two minute walk from the Airport Terminal.
For those of you thinking of driving around Croatia, I would encourage to to go for it. I found driving in Croatia very easy and relaxed. I found Croatian drivers to be courteous and very patient. The roads are well cared for and their road signage is clear and well placed.
As a side note - Croatia has a great ferry system, so if you think you might want to tour a few of their fabulous islands go for it. We toured Korcula and Brac, and the ferry system was easy and carefree,

Charged me more than 540 euro for a tiny scratch on the wheel rim. Repairing cost would be 80 euro at max. Disgraceful. Bad people. Don't book here!

The price list (matrix of lost) they shared even mentioned a repair cost of 2000 HRK (=266 eur) which is already overpriced yet they even dare to charge more than double the amount!

Besides that:
1. Expect an additional 79 eur fee to cross borders which was not communicated in the reservation.
2. I booked an SUV car and they handed me a lower category (Kia Xceed) WITHOUT reduction of cost because the SUV wasn't available !

Booked a car in advance through Internet. Car was ready for the pick up at desired time at Zagreb Airport Efficient, helpful and very friendly staff. Car had three scratches that were duly noted and marked by staff in handover documents at pick up. So, at return no hasle. All transparent… I will use them again.

Hired a vehicle at Zadar Airport through a third party booking site. Very good rate even after paying for an out of hours collection. Vehicle was brand new with just over 500km on the clock. Slight marking of dust in the rear seats from a previous hire bit couldn't fault the cleanliness or presentation of the car. Returned the car in the same condition I found it and no additional charges or problems.

The only criticism is they don't accept American Express although that is quite common in Croatia

Warning. Total scam Company. We will never use this scam Company again. They’ll pressure you into double insurance, make you wait for hours on delivery and tell you the tank is not full even though you filled it up to the click minutes before you return the car. Spend a little more and rent from a reputable car rental company. Wish we had read Trustpilot before renting the car.

As with all car rental companies they attract you with low offers and add extra charges on top.. remember to have a credit card and with a pin … don’t go for the extra insurance if you have insurance with the company you booked with that’s good enough they can’t do anything with you if you have an accident … always get a police report and everything should be ok … I had an experience like that in Italy I crashed and did not pay for extra insurance I was only charged extra 185 euros, in Croatia same thing
