I had canceled the trial period a few…

I had canceled the trial period a few days before it was supposed to automatically start the service. But they went ahead and charged me $83 anyways and unfortunately I couldn't find the paperwork that I needed to show them but I really don't think they would have refunded me even if I had it. They gave me half of it back which and then I have the service for a year but I didn't want the service I just wanted my money back. And then they when I canceled it they had me sign up again if I wanted for another trial. So I did so then they showed I had two accounts. They shouldn't let you sign up twice they have your email address. If they would have told me that I was already signed up then I would have known that they didn't get my cancellation for some reason. I don't trust them, if they wanted to be trusted they would send an email out a couple days before your trial was over to let you know so if you want to cancel you can or if you want to continue their service you can.

I was charged for a new subscription to…

I was charged for a new subscription to my account for much higher price than originally paid and before my new subscription began I asked for a refund and all I got was two partial amounts back despite my efforts. And I feel they have cheated me for the remaining balance. I will not use avast again for this reason.

Charge on a dormant account with autopayments turned off and TERRIBLE customer service,

I used them starting early on, going way back. At first it was a decent free antivirus service.

But then around 2020 I paid for them for the first time, for a year.

But then it interfered with the remote work VPN I was using so It got hardly used.

When it got close to time to renew I canceled the account and turned off autopayments and forgot about it.

And their spam got assigned to the spam box.

4 Years later I suddenly get charged for a years subscription and when I go to look there had been a notice that got spam boxed, somehow the auto payments got turned on, and when I went to get a refund I was forced into a classic BS series of steps that ended in a chat where 'support' worker named 'JOY' told me I was rude for demanding a refund and blamed me for not controlling my account!

obnoxious.

They kept challenging me on why they should refund me and why I wasn't being nice as they patronized and insulted me.

Luckily I had a copy of the notice when I'd turned off the autopayments so I screen caped that and uploaded it to the chat and suddenly it was instant refund.

Wildly obnoxious. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Criminal like conduct.

Avast provides solid malware protection…

Avast provides solid malware protection and has built a strong reputation over the years for keeping devices secure. The software itself generally performs well, and the interface is easy to use for most consumers. However, my biggest criticism is the company’s increasingly aggressive sales structure.

Avast repeatedly emphasizes the importance of having multiple layers of protection, yet many of those essential features are separated into different paid subscriptions. Customers are offered monthly, yearly, two-year, and three-year plans with small discounts for longer commitments, but the major security components are still divided into separate products. Even the premium packages do not appear to include everything Avast claims users need for complete protection.

From a customer perspective, it feels overly monetized and unnecessarily fragmented. Instead of constantly upselling additional services, Avast would create much better value and goodwill by offering a truly comprehensive bundle package with meaningful savings included. The protection is good, but the pricing structure and product segmentation make the overall experience feel more focused on revenue generation than customer convenience.

Very disappointed - charged without my knowledge

I am extremely disappointed with Avast. I had a 1-year subscription which I canceled last year, but now, one year later, they charged my card again without my knowledge or approval.

They took 72 euros from my card for another 1-year subscription that I never requested, never asked for, and did not want. This is completely unacceptable and feels very dishonest from a company that is supposed to be trusted.

My warning to all customers: if you have ever left your card details with Avast, keep a very close eye on your bank account and check what they are charging you for. In my case, they renewed and charged me again without me being aware of it. Asked for a refund and their customer support told me I need to wait now 7 business days for my money to get refunded.

Really disappointing experience. I will not use Avast never again, and I would not recommend them to anyone after this.
