Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was helped to find what I needed straight away. I even got a tip for an old problem I had with my bike and I shorted it in 5’!!!!
Would highly recommend
Generally great service, a few glitches
As ever, customer service at Balfe's was friendly and attentive. Mechanics' attention to detail is also great.
Two caveats, however. The booking system for repairs really needs to be reviewed - booking a slot to bring a bike in doesn't guarantee any time frame for when it will be completed. I appreciate holidays are a busy time, but waiting without any idea of completion date makes it really hard to make arrangements. In the event, when I went in a week after taking my bike in, it seemed as if it had been forgotten, as the repair was quickly completed by the next morning. It would be great if we could be given at least a window of a couple of days rather than an open-ended "when we get round to it".
Second, on a couple of occasions I have had conflicting advice from shop staff. I appreciate opinions may vary, but when I went in to ask about a stiff pedal, I was told it was fine, only to have it come off as I was riding ten days later (fortunately not at speed though I was still pitched forward), and another member of staff confirm that it needed to be replaced. And when I had new brakes fitted a couple of years ago, I was recommended to buy a specific model of brake lever, which I did - only to be told this time that I actually needed a different kind which I then also went on to purchase, an unnecessary expense.
Slow and caused more problems than they solved
I’ve now been without a bike for more than two months. After booking it in for a service, I’ve experienced further problems with my gears and brakes (which were not present before). Each time the bike has been in the workshop for extended periods of time (more than two weeks for one repair) and in each time there was an attempt to upsell expensive new parts or work that wasn’t needed. I’m still without a functioning bike - avoid!

Good customer service !
Helpful and professional.
Overall disappointing
Outstanding service in helping us clarify what bike we should purchase for our son although it was the bike I’d spent a day researching before visiting the store. The sales guy couldn’t have been more helpful, it was being transferred from another store but gave us the timeline. Unfortunately that timeline wasn’t an accurate one so there was a delay of 3 days which was unfortunate.
Went to pick the bike up and the same guy sadly really wasn’t very helpful at all. Collected the bike from
Downstairs and handed it over. No offer to fit the saddle height or check we were happy with the bike so we took it out for our son to try once we’d changed the height of the saddle.
There was a mark on the frame which we then showed the guy who almost shrugged it off as unimportant. I appreciate we didn’t buy the most expensive bike there but still dropped £700.
Disappointing and having seen the google reviews after the completion of our purchase it does seem to be a marmite experience.

Service I received in the store when I picked up my bike was great and the assistant spent loads of time with me and answered all my questions.
Unfortunately my electric gears hadn’t been fully charged (I was told they had been) so they stopped working on my third ride.
I went back to buy some road pedals and a cycling jersey but the store was busy and there aren’t enough staff at peak times which is really irritating.
Emergency Help No Charge Very Grateful
I called in to Balfe's East Dulwich unplanned recently mid commute as my gear shifter had lost a screw and was sticking. Yaz and colleague found a replacement screw and fitted it for me right away. Very friendly. No charge. Brilliant service. Many thanks.

Easy and simple
Easy and simple. Got everything done in minutes and by son loves the bike!
12 days for a small fix, and no comms
12 days it took to do what was supposed to be a few days. I told them from the start that they needed a part, but they didn’t bother to check if they had the part. They didn’t update me. Even when I tried to call for an update half the time they don’t pick up the phone.
When you do talk to them they complain about being busy.
12 days with no bike to ride is really annoying.
I’m hoping I won’t ever need another trek part that forces me to use them again.
Great service
Fast, honest, communicative, expert. Really good service and excellent pricing
