Really helpful and knowledgeable staff. Great flexibility on the Cycle2Work scheme so I could get the right bike and not be limited by an absolute cutoff at £2k

Balfes bikes is literally the best bike…

Balfes bikes is literally the best bike shop/franchise in London, since Brixton cycles closed down I struggled to find a shop were the main core value was customer satisfaction. They have expert Machnics and are good value.
Feels more like a family then a generic bike shop

Nice staff, pressured process

On the day of picking up my bike i couldn't fault the guy dealing with me, very attentive, but the process leading up to this felt very pushy in terms of purchasing the bike. i don't think they mean it to come across this way as i think the issue might be more of a storage problem and the need to free up space, but as a customer this isn't my problem to solve and being chased for payments or pick up is off putting.

Great as always

This was my second bike purchase from Balfe's in 12months. Despite finding the one I was after cheaper elsewhere, I called in to see if they could get close on price, due to previous experience (which they did).
On the phone and in person, everyone was easy going and helpful.
Should probably stop buying bikes now, but Balfe's are my default for servicing and kit.

Seamless Brompton Cycle2Work Purchase

I recently bought a Brompton using the Cycle2Work scheme through Balfe's Bikes, and the entire experience was incredibly smooth and straightforward.

The sales team provided excellent advice from start to finish. A special thanks to James, who went above and beyond by letting me know a new version of the bike was about to be released and asking if I preferred to wait for it. His transparency was fantastic, and the team made the voucher process completely clear and stress-free.

I received regular order status updates throughout the wait, and the delivery service was seamless. It has been an absolute joy dealing with such a professional and pleasant company from initial enquiry right through to delivery. Highly recommended!

Competent and reliable

I needed a damage assessment for my bike insurance. They were helpful and accommodating, four stars because it took a while, which I guess is due to them being in a busy location. And bike shops becoming a dying breed in London.

Quick Fix but Overpriced for a Simple Job

Hi,
I visited the Waterloo Balfe’s Bikes store because the handlebar on my Specialized e-bike was wobbling. I believed it needed a new star nut, which I explained to the mechanic after he initially wasn’t sure what the issue was.
He then replaced the star nut, which took around 10 minutes. However, I was charged £23 for this relatively quick and simple job, which I don’t feel is a fair price. There was also no clear pricing displayed for this type of repair.
I appreciate that the issue was resolved, but the cost felt quite high for the work involved—especially as I was assisting by holding the handlebar during the repair. I’d recommend more transparency around pricing for small jobs like this.
