Banfield USED to be a really good vet…

Banfield USED to be a really good vet and their plans were reasonable which is why I started with them. Not only have their prices increased dramatically, but today, when I told them I needed to euthanize a baby that was not on a plan with them, they told me they would need a copy of her records to see what was going on. I told them that trying to get her records was difficult and they said well then we would need to do additional blood work on her. I said she's 16 years old, has cushings disease, problems with her liver and her kidneys are failing. Their response was well our doctors won't euthanize her without all of this information. EXCUSE ME???!!! I have been to several different vets here in Tucson and not one of them has ever told me that they needed records or additional blood work in order to euthanize one of my babies! I believe this is most likely a corporate issue with them trying to get more money out of me after I have already spent several thousand dollars over the last couple of years getting my babies covered and taken care of there. Trust me. The last baby that I just signed up for a plan for just recently will be the last and none of the other contracts will be renewed. I am done!

Do not go to the Banfield Hospital in…

Do not go to the Banfield Hospital in Easley South Carolina they misdiagnose your pet they do not give you the other options that are readily available they put words in your mouth that you never said and they put it in there medical notes you contact corporate office about it and corporate office refuses to talk to you through an email due to it's too complicated a situation to discuss in an email it needs to be done over the phone and then a summarized email will be sent what was said due to the vet putting words in my mouth and putting it in my dog's file of things I never said they expect you to just continue trusting them instead of coming to an agreement to discuss it through an email so there is proof what was said when it was said then the district manager refuses to contact you back you have to contact Better Business Bureau you have to contact Washington State Attorney General's office you have to contact all those things all those places and they still refuse to talk to me about the misdiagnosis on my dog so you decide to go to the media every media you can think of and they still refuse to talk to you about the misdiagnosis their hospital did to your dog so I would think twice about going there

DO not sign for the Wellness plan

DO not sign for the Wellness plan! It is a scam! They will get you into a yearly contract even if your pet dies, And on Auto Renewal!
It is an unfair business practice, fraudulent. Customers should be able to cancel their plans with no penalties.
We should demand transparency from them. NOT recommended.

They don't care about your dog

Being in the medical field myself , I will write a thorough review on what banfield stand for and my experience their with my dog as of january 2025 the contract ends and I have canceled the renewal , the service i had was horrendous brought my dog in for a check up and the doctors assistant came In. i ask a few questions and the assistant was lost in space she grabbed my dog and took it to the back not one time did I see the doctor himself nor did he present himself or the type of treatment my dog would recieved everything was done through the assistant and no explanation of any sort when push comes to shove all the doctor cares about is money and adding extra exams on their that your dog doesn't need . If your dog comes in for 1 thing your suppose to treat the problem and not add exams that are irrelevant banfield sadly has become a gimmick of business transaction and money driven they don't care for your dogs well being when you sign the contract it clearly states even if your dog "dies" you are bound to continue payment until contract is finished re read that last part and let that sink in , alot of time banfield doesn't have required medicine either , I sincerely hope everyone keeps their dogs far away from this place and look for an alternative.

Banfield only cares about money

We have been shown time after time that Banfield does not care about their patients, only that they are paid.

This last instance has made me the most upset. Our kitten, Saga got spayed October 8th and we found out November 2nd that she had opened her stitches. I understand that it is our responsibility that she had opened her wound. However, we were told on November 3rd that she was going to need to be restitched that it could cost upwards of $2,000. We raised the funds of $1,100 that was needed to get her stitches done again. Three days after this on November 6th, her stitches had come undone again after following the care plan Banfield gave us. I brought our invoice to Banfield to ask a few clarifying questions about the $1,100 that we had previously paid because that seemed fairly high just to get some stitches done. I called 7 other veterinarian hospitals in the area and they all told me a good estimate to get restitched in her condition was at the highest $600 give or take the severity. I brought this up to the technician and I was told “it’s cheap for a reason”. I then informed them that her stitches had come undone again and I was told to bring her back the following day (November 8th) to get MORE stitches or possibly staples. My follow up question was what do we do if we can not afford more stitches (the $1,100 charge took all we had), I was told to get a loan. I asked what to do if we got denied for the loan (which we had), they shrugged their shoulders and told me to try again. There was no other treatment plan offered to me other than stitches or staples. I am under the assumption that my cat would not get her wound fixed if I couldn’t come up with the outrageous price they would charge me for the second round of stitches because I was given no other options. I found a different veterinarian hospital and they gave me FOUR different treatment plans all with pricing up front.

After paying my monthly wellness plan, paying for any extra medicine, and paying the $1,100 to restitch my cat, that did not even last 3 days, I was told on November 8th that in order to cancel my wellness plan I owed $1,170. After sending a complaint email, a staff member called me on November 9th to inform me that it was only $357.75 to cancel Saga’s wellness plan. They could not give me the actual number to cancel all 3 plans I had with them. They also did not address any concerns I raised other than the money I owed them, proving to me once again that they only cared about the money.

Banfield is taking advantage of people who trusted them with their pets. They do not give straight answers, do not offer sound advice, and price gouge everything. I do not recommend Banfield by any means.

Do not sign up for the Wellness Plan

Do not sign up for the Wellness Plan. It is a rip off and the operators are very rude if you can get someone after 20 minute hold. They do not pay for what you are sold as a plan. Our dog died the day that they did a bunch of test and charged us for a bunch of prescriptions, after the doctor said nothing to be worried about. Tried to cancel plan, but they would not let us until we paid until plan ended.

Totally disgusted with Banfield my dog…

Totally disgusted with Banfield my dog passed away on 4 July 2024 and I immediately notified Banfield about this. I was told that the wellness plan ran through the beginning of September and that it would be canceled. I just checked my bank account and I was charged for September and October. I contacted Banfield and the customer service agent was extremely rude and unresponsive to my questions. I will never use Banfield pet insurance again while the care was quite good. Their service online really is very poor.

Bainfield Pets Hospital

Bainfield Pets Hospital

Dear Bainfield Pets Hospital Team,

I hope this message find you well. My name is Maria, and I am writing to express my deep concern and sadness regarding a recent visit to your hospital with my beloved pet, Lily.

Lily was in good health just she was vomiting like some times happened to her when we brought her to your facility, but tragically, she passed away the same night after we picked her up. This has been an incredibly distressing time for us, and we are struggling to understand what happened.

We would greatly appreciate any information or explanation regarding her condition during her visit and what might have led to her passing. It feels very strange to us, and we are seeking clarity on this matter.

Thank you for your attention to our concerns. We look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,
Maria and Jose

Banfield Pet Hospital

Banfield Pet Hospital-Wesley Chapel North Carolina

Crooks and not very smart. I took my dog in with symptoms of diarrhea, which he has had on and off throughout his 7 years. Dogs get into stuff, and every time it clears up with a round of metronidazole. The tech said they wanted to run a CPL test (CPL measures pancreas specific lipase). I said, not necessary, even if he pops high, it doesn't change the course of treatment. Tech said she would run it by the vet. She came back to say, Vet said they "had to test". So, they take blood and run the test. The tech comes back and says, "Yep, Vet said he has pancreatitis". I looked at the report and it just says "abnormal", no CPL value was listed. I asked what the value was because NO ONE can accurately diagnosis pancreatitis without a true value. ANY competent DVM or MD knows this. I told the tech, that would be like a human patient going to a medical doctor and having blood work drawn and the MD returns and tells them they have diabetes, but they don't have a blood glucose level or an A1C level. Maybe that patient is on steroids or has an active infection, both elevate blood glucose levels. Many things elevate test results, and many things elevate CPL. There must be an absolute value given, and a provider cannot accurately dx pancreatitis from an abnormal/normal reading. This isn't a pregnancy test for Pete's sake. Also, I also shared with the tech, CPL has a wide range, under 200ug/l clear, between 200-400ug/l is inconclusive, over 400 ug/l is more consistent with a diagnosis of pancreatitis. The tech had no response to logic and medical truth because when you're running a scam, you can't defend your actions. Regardless, a bogus $98.57 lab test fee, that, like I told them at the beginning, did not change the course of treatment....still a round of metronidazole. Further, they charged me $67.95 for an office visit and I never saw the vet once. Scam. Incompetent. Dishonest. Many poor reviews don't lie.

Banfield is not a good choice!!

I would not use Banfield again. Their wellness plan is a rip off. When they first started 20 years ago they had excellent vets and spent time with you and your pets in the exam room. After Covid they used that as an excuse to arrange drop off appointments for your pets. You didn’t get to see them doing any of the exam. Did they draw blood? Take a fecal? I was sceptical but my dogs were healthy and just went in for their comprehensive exams and occasional teeth cleaning. When they got older I didn’t want to do drop offs so I made in office appointments. They still took my pet out of the room to do the tests and give the shots. I had no idea what was actually being done. They would always come back with a syringe for me to give the dewormer at home because they said they wouldn’t let them give it to them. That is just BS. They were the calmest easiest dogs. Both my dogs passed away this weekend and my oldest (16) plan had just renewed. I had one visit. They will continue to bill me monthly for the rest of the year because they are telling me that one well checkup cost more than the whole year of payments. BEWARE!! The wellness plan is a scam! The good vets are leaving or retiring. Find a good vet with a good reputation and get care insurance to cover the more expensive services. Don’t mess with Banfield.

I took a stray cat to this scam company…

I took a stray cat to this scam company Banfield as it was located in their apparent scam enabler Petsmart because I bought product from Petsmart in the past when I had a dog, my cat got basic shots and tests, there was some scabbing around her neck that I was told would probably clear up with the monthly flea/heartworm medication, I paid around $250 which was pretty high compared to the monthly shot clinics at the locally owned pet stores in my area, anyway I was sold a pet plan, and I set up the plan entirely on their store terminal and went on my way, unfortunately circumstances required me to move to a no pet household, after the high tech sign up I was surprised that to cancel I was given a handwritten phone # on a post-it note, when I went home to call I found out why, they don't want you in the actual store when their cheerful phone attendant tells you that you've been ripped off, in my case for $700, an amount that showed up nowhere in the sign-up, for basic cat health-care, look, I expect big corporations to be a little scammy, that's what they are, but this scheme of tacking on excessive fees onto an pet insurance plan when it's really being done to gouge you and your insurance plan turns out to be nothing more than a way for them to get the money they scammed after the fact and without your knowledge. Avoid Petsmart, support your local pet shop.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! Banfield Falls Church continues to scam us and they put our dog's health in jeopardy, and in my opinion its borderline malpractice! For our teeth cleaning last year, we had elevated liver enzymes and treated it; then during our comprehensive exam we got a clean bill of health and the vet told us to make a teeth cleaning appointment for two weeks after the exam, and guess what? Elevated liver enzymes just two weeks with no changes in anything diet or otherwise. At best, this vet is inept and at worst she missed a significant finding in our "comprehensive" exam. We are leaving and going to a new vet. This place is a scam. Beware of paperwork!!! They will tell you you are signing one thing, but what's actually written is different. If you do go here at your own peril, just make sure you read every word before you sign,

Disappointed with my experience

Title: Disappointing Experience at Banfield Pet Hospital

I recently visited Banfield Pet Hospital and had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Sanabria. Unfortunately, it was clear that she lacked patience, empathy, and genuine care for my pet's well-being.

Firstly, they ordered the wrong test, which was frustrating and time-consuming. To make matters worse, they attempted to bill me for procedures that were already included in my “care” plan. It felt as though they were more interested in upselling services than providing quality care.

Dr. Sanabria seemed disinterested and dismissive. She didn’t take the time to discuss my pet’s treatment with me, instead sending a tech to hand me a generic printout. It felt impersonal and disrespectful, as I expected a real conversation about my pet’s health, not just a Google-style handout.

Overall, this visit left me questioning the value of bringing my pet to Banfield. If you’re looking for a vet who truly cares and communicates, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

No longer the kind place it once was

We have used Banfield for 13 years, 3 dogs and several locations and found the service overall to be professional. We have used the last location since 2019 and found the staff really knew our 2 dogs we could discuss the animals with them and could plan their care as a team. This past year we had one very old dog left and thing had changed. We took him in and they were not rude but he was evaluated by a check list as if they did not know us, him, or his history. When he started old age issues we tried to discuss this with this new staff and again it was a check list not an overall comparison of where we have been and where we are going. We asked for an evaluation of his nervous system and suggestions in the past we would have valuable discussion what we got was take him he is not in pain (but he was in pain). When his condition became so severe he could not stand on his own we brought him in and basically we were told to take him again and see what he does, We knew he was hurting and made the need decision to assist him. I was told we would receive his paw print and he where his ashes would be scattered, I waited over 2 weeks called hospital and they did not even recognize the request. They had to call me back to tell me I had not ordered an urn??? I told her we never discussed an urn I was promised his paw print and I wanted to know where it was. She said I will call you back - they have not called back and I know they did not keep a paw print. No apology no redress. If I do get another pet I will not use Petsmart or Banfield because much needed kindness and consideration are gone

Really like this Veterinarian office

We started using Banfield Pet Hospital in Virginia Beach—the location near Plaza Drive. They are very good with our dog; seem really caring and gentle. Our dog has “vet phobia” but they are very patient and careful with her. They have a preventative care plan which I definitely can recommend. We’ve saved lots of money with that. It’s a monthly fee, but in the end it’s a money saver. The staff and vets are all great here!

My cats and i love you guys!

I’m seen within five minutes of my appointment time every time. They all go above and beyond like clipping my cats’ nails, and talking to me about different foods and treats. (So much better than the VCA in my area who charged me way more than quoted, made me wait an hour spent barely 5 min and refused to help me apply meds.)

Love you guys!

I had a wellness plan for one of my dogs, and lost my wallet so I had to replace all my cards. I took my card into a Banfield at Salmon Creek in Vancouver Washington and they took my new card number and said they would take care of my payment. Then this morning I get a call from a debt collection agency. Needless to say I am pretty pissed off with Banfield, do not get their wellness plan, they do the bait and switch on you.

Cost of neutering dog unfair

I scheduled to have my dog neutered today. I was told that the cost was 530.00. When I dropped my dog off the cost escalated to 697.00: adding cost of cone which they said you cannot take your dog without it, pain medication which pain is expected after surgery, and the charge for an office visit of 80.00. You had to sign another agreement for additional cost of 50-200 for additional bloodwork if needed for anesthesia. So total could be up to 897.00. That is a far cry from 530.00 which was the initial quote. They would not proceed unless I agreed to the additional 50-200.00. So I cancelled the surgery. This company cannot expect pet owners to have bottomless pockets. Unfair.

One of the worst companies ever

One of the worst companies ever. Stay away from their welness plans, those plans are not designed to save you money, they are designed to get your foot at the door. They will upsell you everything.

Banfield failed to apply one of my payments to my account, 4 months later, they unfairly sent put me in collection. I called to confirm that they receiced the payment 3 month earlier, they confirm that and still reported to the credit bureau as collectionm then settled.

Banfield has gone from regular to bad to worse

On 07/29 I requested an appointment online. They had one for 07/30 at 1.30pm. I took it.
The following day I arrive at 1.15pm, sign in, and the employee says that my app was for 2pm that I had to wait. Even though I showed the confirmation email sent by her company, she still said something about availability of Drs or something of the sort. I waited and then told her that I had been the only one there for about 20 min, she did not care. Next, I am ready. Now they want me to drop my dog off even though I had specified online that I wanted to see the Dr and wait for my dog . I did not feel like arguing so I left. 2 hours passed and no one had yet called back. I know the length of time these exams take(comprehensive). So I went to the store. Now I want my dog back no matter what. They bring him out. I then find out that they had not even touched him. He just spent the last 2 hrs in a cage for nothing.
All those signs that say how much they care are just that, a simple sign with no meaning to it.
I have been a customer for around 24 yrs, doesn't count at all. And of course, customer service does not exist.
THEY JUST DON"T CARE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
