I had quoted 3 companies and choose the medium price range which is Barclays.
Barclays Bathrooms started to renovate my bathroom on 9/5/2022. At the 1st meeting, they claim it can be completed within 5 working days. It was the same as the other two company claimed. As It need to demolish two walls and rebuild it I assumed it takes 7 working days. Then the 1st issue, the sales Johnny had not fully understand my needs, i need a shower area with two glasses panels which was shown in their catalog and I pointed it out clearly during meeting. They sent only one glasses and said the other side will be a wall to be built by the fitter. I argued 3 times then I got what I deserved. It was solved. I paid to Barclays $3,335 for all materials.
- 2nd issue, they sent their designated fitter, Alan MacDonald, who always said it will be perfect! No panic! the 1st day, he said the floor was dampness and need to be dehumidify so they worked only half day and left. Actually they could replaced the water heater in the afternoon. On Wed, the plastering walls was built by another party also called Jonny (not by this Alan) which have good skills. But they only work half day. The Alan's team doesn't show on that day and that's delay the progress!
I had told the fitter Alan to trim the wall panel more straight and accurate to increase the shade surfaces bcos there will be a maintenance need in the future to remove the glue on wall panel and then re-seal it. If it is not accurate it may be problem when re-glue it. Maybe he thinks I am unreasonable that's why he didn't like me. However I am the customer I paid £3,430 to him! He should respect the customer but he didn't!
-3rd issue, Alan said the drain part was stucked by debris, it still can be used well the day before the demolition. Where is the debris come? must be when they demolish carelessly. And need to re-route the drain pipe to outside communal pipe which the pipe was stuck by soil and claim me £120 to make the water go through as he said it was done by a third party but i think this £120 was his lie. If they did thing careful, no debris will be entered the original pipe! I didn't realize at that moment, i can be cheated by Scottish for the 1st time! I forgive you. I want the project to be completed ASAP.
-4th issue, he promised to complete on 16/5, and then he always said he was sick and disappear for 4 days.
-5th issue, he promised to make a separate switch for the ventilation fan, because it is cold after shower. However he make the fan powered on with the lighting switch together, which break our deal!
-6th issue, he didn't know how to install a door lock! He broke my new door surface! He used a drill which was too large for 35mm thickness door! Im a eco-friendly guy, I don't want to throw and burn the door. If i throw it, i will deduct the door price £116 fm his amount. I kept the door even he installed the lock so ugly.
If he's not professional at door he could just tell me I can do it myself!
-7th issue, his attitude becames bad at the last day 22/5. Do things carelessly.
-8th issue, he lied to me he will arrange an electrician next week to connect the LED mirror because need to touch the fuse box. He had so many excuses & a week passed nobody comes and he refuse to reply me! What a liar! He claim he had in this career for 19 years!
The whole project use 14 days! So disappointing. The most failure of Barclays Bathrooms was hired this fitter - Alan MacDonald who is lack of responsibility! Bad attitude! A liar!
I am done! Paid £3335+3430+190 waste disposal, Total £6955 and leave me unhappy memories!
At last, Barclays did a right thing. They sent an electrician to connect the LED mirror after I sent a formal complain letter to them. The electrician called Craig had good attitude. I appreciated him.
B4 I think they worth 1 star, now I give them 3 stars. You guys think twice when taking orders.
