customer service is atrocious
Better have some nice facilities, but their systems and customer service are atrocious!
I was a member of Better for about a year, but then had my membership unilaterally cancelled by them. They offered to reinstate my membership for 30% more.
Apparently a payment had failed and they'd immediately closed the membership. They didn't send me any notification or attempt to resolve the issue. The first I found out about the membership cancellation was when my membership card stopped working at the gym.
I'd had membership issues in the past - for some reason they'd created duplicate accounts for me and got them mixed up. It seems like their back-office systems are in a complete mess. Instead of trying to help resolve the issue, staff at the health centre and call centre are more interested in upselling you to a more expensive plan.

I sincerely apologise for the difficulties you faced with your membership. Typically, when our system cancels a membership, it is due to payment issues or the cancellation of a direct debit instruction at your bank. This usually triggers an email from your bank to clarify the cancellation of your direct debit to Better. When you visit the center, the staff will inform you that your membership has been cancelled due to payment issues, and you can address this at the reception desk.
We also want to express our apologies for the duplicate accounts that resulted from the confusion. If you would like to keep your current membership, we will honor your request and reactivate it, provided that this membership is still available. If it is not, we will offer you the next available membership that includes all the activities your previous membership provided.
We value your feedback as it helps us improve our service in the future.

Britannia Leisure Centre - broken Sauna and Drying Machnes
Britannia Leisure Centre - is a great facility with swim pools, sauna, gym play courts etc.
Unfortunately, the Swedish dry sauna has been ut of order for over 3 months with no staff able to advise when this will be working again. Also, both swimwear dryers are also broken....something clearly not working in the facilities management area of this place - Pity!
Update 19 Jan 2025 - spin dryer and dry sauna - all out of order still!!!

Our centre team have been working tirelessly with our contractors to get this back up and running as soon as possible and another repair is set for this week so we are hoping this gets the issue resolved so the Sauna may open later this week.

Do not expect a clean environment
It is not clean and hygienic at all. At my first day, the taps in the changing room were not working, yesterday it was another challenge I assume the sensor is so covered with limescale, it effects the system to work.
There is no policy of a clean trainers / different than outside so most of the machines were muddy and dirty as it was a rainy day.

Clean and tidy, lots of equipment
Great Gym area I liked the fact that the equipment is new and the people are friendly. Plus is that there is also a full sized pool and lots of changing rooms. So far played badminton here, they have a racket and shuttle hire service and next up Squash I have never played before but there seems to be a good number of squash courts here mostly empty so easy to book in. Also the roof top football court is great!

what went wrong? yesterday someone came in with a knife demanding money from the cafeteria. once again, police is called to the building. no security person on site? soon these usual hackney suspects will be taking hostage our kids?
sauna is broken since weeks, and the steam room? I HAVE NEVER SEE SEEN a more filthy steam room, the tiles are so f****** disgusting. lifeguards do not clean it, they throw a bucket of pool water once a week at best on the steam/sauna floor. the tiles are black almost, and the silicone around it went from white to black.
I HOPE MORE PEOPLE WILL UNSUBSCRIBE.
If filth represented a building, a company as a whole and its staff treatment towards people, it'll be britannia.
Even the ukrainian cleaners are so comfortable now, shouting across the changing room in the pool, and talking between each other about the customers.. and also i often find them chatting away in the womens changing rooms on the 1st floor for a good 20minutes if they have the chance. But they (overall) are the only ones doing the most work to be honest.
The manager at the top, he is of black skin.. i don't think i saw him once at the pool area. He should be inspecting the areas and making sure they are clean, it is disgusting. How does one get a job and is no where to be seen.

More machines for women to use for certain workouts
I use better gym, Britania being my local lovely space and centre but they definitely need to upgrade the equipment I feel like there’s not much machines for women to use like hip thrust machine, glute kick back press machine split squat roller stand etc I think these should be available for people like myself who need more support and find it hard to use the regular machines to perform glute workouts and for people who suffer with back problems who can’t use the regular machines at all, a lot of the machines are based around men and are always hogged by the men it would feel really nice to have more machines that women can use and benefit from as well.

Britannia leisure centre has taken…
Britannia leisure centre has taken almost a month to fix an issue with the sauna. Having been repeatedly advised it’ll reopen week after week. Clearly the management there are not prioritising issues in the centre. Rather advise customers misleading information. By telling them what they want to hear. The centre manager “Toby” needs to pull his finger out. From where ever he has stuck it.

I am disgusted by the efforts made by…
I am disgusted by the efforts made by the manager Zahir. He lies about the sauna not being part of the facilities. He said since it’s not part of the facilities, he is in no rush to fix the sauna.
It’s been off for 5 weeks.
Can someone at the company higher in position than the people at Britannia look into this management and the way they treat customers?
