I joined the Clissold Leisure Centre a week ago and have already been so impressed with the helpful and friendly induction, quality of equipment and cleanliness of the space. The amount of activities available is great and booking has been a breeze. Looking forward to many more visits!

The showers up stair are not ventilated and often feel unhygienic . Realise they are cleaned but what a mess left by members. They were far better before. There are drain flys down stairs in the changing rooms. There is not enough equipment. Infact broken machines that have been sitting with signs on for over a month. Not enough weights . Can be waiting over 15 mins whilst people hog the machines. It was far better 10 years ago. Also the toilets on the ground floor the water is boiling hot to wash hands. This is bad for the environment. There are also children on some days that need supervision for health and safety that are using the machines. Too young to be using the machines and not sure why the gym allows it.

The Better App is not fit for purpose. Booking in advance is a nightmare, the App keeps buffering, states activity is full on-line but in person is not. Better have a huge membership and really need to get the issues with the App sorted out.

I felt welcomed
My swimming teacher - Sarah is competent, friendly and understanding.
I feel I can learn with her.
The changing rooms are clean and well maintained.

People don’t swim in the specified direction which can cause collisions, life guards could point this out to swimmers
Difficult to put clothes or anything in lockers because it’s the walk way to the pool so therefore you have to keep closing the locker to let people by, to narrow.

My daughter loves the swimming lessons. She says she has learned to swim without the floaters, and she is very happy.
The only minus is that the ginger biscuits in the cafe don't taste like they have much ginger inside them.

Overall a good gym but - could do with another pec fly machine and much better water refill in the gym upstairs as countless times it’s not working. I also think there’s too many treadmills - the elevate room could do with being split in half, mirror putting at the other end and another free weights section with benches.

The booking system, staff are always helpful and how clean the place is.

The app is very difficult to access. The other day I went to ask the receptionist at the Clisol Leisure Center some questions and they didn't treat me well. I just wanted to change my daughter's activity because she's become afraid of the pool, and the app doesn't work for me.

Kaira and Guissepe were excellent and very kind and helpful. Amazing swimming instructors.

Please fix the access gates issue, wifi issues and the broken machines

My experience of Clissold Better Leisure would be fair, but it is seriously compromised by an ongoing fly infestation in the women's gym changing rooms and a water supply to the showers which is often cold.

Better are a very disgusting company who sacrifice customers and employees for profit.
Constant ludicrous, wasteful renovations which generate noise and chaos, not to mention overcrowded (and therefore dangerous) classes.
Studio equipment is cheap and not fit for purpose - such as slippery, stretchy mats totally unsuitable for yoga! (One instructor suggested that members buy their own as these are dangerous!!)
The new policy of using AI music for fitness classes to avoid paying artists’ royalties is a disgrace. Instructors now lack artistic freedom and classes are dull as a result. The ‘music’ is so mind-numbing, it creates feelings veering from insanity to rage.
Very low staff morale.
All in all utterly disappointing for a local community leisure centre which calls itself a charitable enterprise - HA!

I use my local leisure centre a lot. The teachers are brilliant but now are unable to use their own music. Music is key to exercise and all the good instructors are leaving. No one is interested in what customers or trainers think.

The instructor is not really helping
All she does is command and does not teach anything
I am not enjoying it at all
very disappointing

I booked swimming for Tuesday May 12 at…
I booked swimming for Tuesday May 12 at 19:30 and there wee supposed to be 3 lanes available: fast, medium, slow. However, employee in blue tee shirt closed slow lane because she wanted to swim with her acquaintances, teaching them. They didn't pay for the lane, we, the public paid. The audacity of employee in blue tee shirt, who couldn't even swim properly herself, was mindbogling. As a result I couldn't swim fast because poor slow swimmers were asked to join faster lane and squeeze with us. The fault is with general manager who allows his employee, to abuse the rules. Paying customers suffered as swimming in the evening was available for men only for 50 minutes

The new sauna time tables are very inconsiderate and unintelligent.
Was there a high demand for mixed sessions? It must have only been the men who wanted that because the women don't want to be exposed to men like this.
Most of us prefer to be with other women when using the sauna steam room. Before the refurb there was a healthy amount of days and times per week for Women Only and always filled if not fully booked. Now women only sessions are at lunch time or in the late evenings 1 hour per session 4 times per week, no weekends. No consideration for the women who work, have their children's bedtimes to think of or just don't feel it's right to be made to wait until 9pm to use the sauna. WHY??? What inspired these new times?
WE DO NOT WANT TO BE IN A HOT ROOMS WITH MEN IN OUR MY BATHING SUITS. It's such an uncomfortable experience having men gape at you.
Why have you decreased the women's sessions without considering the women who use the services?
This needs to be reconsidered. We love men but do not want to be with men for this experience.
Some possible times to consider:
• Extend the women only evening sessions to 6:45pm - 9:45pm once or twice a week so we can get out at a decent hour
• Extend the afternoon women only sessions to 12pm-3pm to accommodate women before the school run
• Add weekend sessions
And perhaps do this for both Women and Male only sessions
