It's hard where to Start the stuff wte friendly, but there .membership side is unfair prices are good but when you book a slot night before and next day you cancel it when You wake up due to your child being ill so can't go cancel hour and half before and I get locked out again my account
2nd issue in the swimming pool there is constant sand and not just a little
3rd the showers are unpredictable sometimes you get hot sometimes you get cold
4th southbury leisure centre are hiring g people that can't even speak basic English, there was a maintenence guy today tried saying is it hot or cold me and one other lady couldn't understand. All we got sorry English not good' I get inclusion for everyone but speaking basically English is essential I hope the manager does see this and makes some changes, I did address all this to reception and got a sorry

Firstly, we understand how frustrating it can be when unexpected circumstances—like a child falling ill—affect your ability to attend a booking. While we have a cancellation policy in place to manage availability for all members, we know there are times when flexibility is needed, and we are happy to remove a penalty charge for unforeseen circumstances. If you speak to the staff at the centre and advise them of the reasons you were unable to attend your booking, they will be happy to remove the charge so you can continue with your online bookings.
Regarding the swimming pool cleanliness, we agree that this should never be an issue. Sand or debris in the pool is not acceptable. We are aware of this issue and we are proactively trying to get this issue resolved. We appreciate your patience while we continue to rectify this issue.
We also apologise for the inconsistency you've experienced with our showers. This has been reported to our facilities team and they are actively investigating to ensure reliable water temperature going forward.
Lastly, we’re committed to hiring a diverse and inclusive team, but we also understand the importance of clear communication—especially in roles involving safety and customer service. We'll be reviewing training and support provided to our staff to ensure that language skills meet our service standards.

Membership is worth for the price
Membership is worth for the price. All the machines are cleaned in the Gym.The staff is helpful and kind. I am really enjoying with the facilities they are provided.

Uninviting Swimming Pool
I would give today's and last week's instructors a 10 out of 10. Really great quality instructors. What tends to niggle at me each time I walk into the Southbury branch (as someone passionate about swimming), I see how the wrap on the outside of the gym's building has totally blocked all the bright light from streaming into the room where the swimming pool is. Subsequently, the water in the pool looks dark and uninviting. I have also noticed dirt at the bottom of the pool, on a couple of occasions now, which doesn't help with my motivation to use the pool. It's a shame because the room has the potential to offer such a great experience.

Went to Southbury Road on 15/04/2025 as I had booked for a Zumba class. This was cancelled and changed to a step class. I was not notified of the change, until after we entered the room, Had I been notified earlier, I would have stayed at home and not got soaking wet

I hadn't used Southbury Road before and staff were very helpful including front of house (front desk) and staff at the.poolsode. Sufficient parking spaces. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Was not informed lockers would be cut off and belonging thrown in the bin if left overnight. No signs in the gym stating this only written in the small print on the website if you search all through the ts and cs.

The smell of urine in the changing area…
The smell of urine in the changing area is absolutely DISGUSTING ! I have been complaining about this problem for months but no one seems to change anything. The hairdryers almost never work and the temperature of inside of the pool is so cold!!😡

First, I want to acknowledge the problem with the smell in the changing area. We certainly don't want any of our guests to have an unpleasant experience, and it’s concerning that this issue has persisted despite your previous complaints. I will make sure our facilities team investigates and addresses this problem immediately, and we’ll take steps to prevent it from recurring in the future.
Regarding the hairdryers, I’m truly sorry that they’ve not been working properly. We will ensure that they’re either repaired or replaced as soon as possible so that they’re functioning correctly for everyone’s use.
Lastly, I understand your discomfort with the pool temperature. Your experience with the cold water is not the standard we aim to provide, and I will escalate this to the maintenance team to check if there's an issue with the heating system.

Recently visited the newly refurbished gym, was blown away with how much equipment was on offer and how the gym was big in size.

Sauna/ steam room
I have been visiting the centre for couple of months now. I only use steam and sauna. Steam room has been out of service for the past month. The sauna is currently at 65 degrees. I have spoken with the manager and apparently nobody on the premises is able to do anything about it. That about sums up the service and the attitude of the centre.

Good place but pricey and staff are meh
Has loads of activities ypu can choose from which is great but the staff on the desk don't really know a lot now information when you ask them things or they guess the answer, gym is great but a member of staff is not always there as I'm there often which is bad. Lockers get broken into so it's scary to use them but you have to now . Overall the classes are really good.

Gym looks amazing! I’ve been a member for a number of years and the equipment was tired, dated & rusty!
Now I’d say it’s one of the best in the borough!

Recently had my sons birthday party in the softplay here and staff could not have done enough for us. The cleaner was there beforehand and had staff popping in periodically to check we were all good. Top service!
