Needs a thorough clean and maintenance, good for family swim.
I have been taking my daughters swimming at Wavelengths for about 2 years and the pool and changing areas are in need of a thorough clean and maintenance. We booked the first available session this morning for swim for all and it looked like it had not been cleaned for weeks!! Nappies strewn about, clumps of hair by the showers, feels like the level of care is very poor.
The layout and the pool itself is still really nice and we do enjoy it. Just wish it was not so dirty.

Problems with student membership
I paid for student membership, my documents were accepted, yesterday and today I tried to go to the pool but I could not get in because you have not activated my membership. I am paying for a month's membership and I have already lost two days that should be refunded by Better.

I'm a new member
I'm a new member, walked in on Friday night and I was refused access because it was women's night, which apparently runs every friday and was never stated at the time I joined the gym (it doesn't say it on the app, i could only see it on a piece of paper at the entrance of the gym). Friday Night is one of the few nights I can go to the gym because of work, and if I pay for a membership that gives me full access any time and any day, I don't get why I can't access the gym whenever I want (and still pay the same amount). Also the staff wasn't very bothered to explain it to me and just directed me to the paper at the entrance of the gym almost without looking me in the eyes. It's likely I'll cancel the membership and look for a different place.

I am a senior member subject to abuse and discrimination.
I am a senior member. Today I was forced to leave my swimming session because of a huge man (approximately 20st) dive bombed into the fitness pool, narrowly missing me, and then subjected me to a barrage of abuse because I instinctively jumped out of his way. Because I admitted to the manager that I had muttered a swear word under my breath after being continually shouted at and called a stupid cow, the manager said this was now 50:50, and he could not ask the man to leave. He told me I was safe to continue swimming as he was there and would ensure the man didn't touch me. I pointed out that the man was continuing to verbally abuse me, for everyone to hear, after the manager had told him to stop, so how was I to feel safe? He repeated that, unless the man actually physically hurt me, I had to just try to ignore him!
I was also not impressed with the treatment of slow swimmers like myself. While I was happy to move to a 'slow lane' so I did not obstruct faster swimmers, I think we too should be allowed to swim without being obstructed. However, the slow lanes are also used by people learning to swim and people just hanging around chatting in the water so it is impossible to swim continuous lengths. Surely they should be directed to the other pools instead of the fitness pools? I did feel like a second class citizen - I have to respect other people's needs, but mine are irrelevant.
Regarding the threatening behaviour of the other user, until Better are able to provide some assurances that they will provide a safe environment I do not feel able to use this facility.

Low hygiene standards
Dear Better Team,
As I have not received any answer yet privately, I thought of leaving my feedback on Trustpilot.
As a family, we have recently attended Wavelengths for two weeks on Saturdays (on the 6th and 13th of January), but shortly afterwards my husband was diagnosed with a swimmer ear infection, and is still under treatment.
Furthermore, on the 19th my daughter went to Wavelengths to take her first swimming lesson with her class from a local school which I have copied to my private email. Shortly afterwards she developed a bad cough and after about a week an ear infection.
My 7 year old daughter told me that their class was the only one during their time slot at the pool, but a little girl had an accident at the poolside and her urine was pushed into the pool with a bucket of water.
Having said that, I would like to understand how quickly the water is being thoroughly disinfected, and whether it is possible to prevent these accidents with signs aimed at schools and families, so that accidents in the water are prevented.
Recently we had to cancel our reservation, but under these conditions we are not encouraged to return to Wavelengths. We have been in other swimming pools for a long time, and this has never happened to us.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Carla Paulis

Superb choice
I have finally found a gym that has all the fitness classes that I require all under the same roof and with many different times/dates and most importantly a wide range. AMAZING

Excellent swim doctors.
The swim doctors are very good teachers, they teach you how to swim at your own pace.

I am very disappointed with the cleaning at a wavelength.the lady changing room at the swimming area is very dry.
Dirty Tissue on the floor dirt from shoe on the floor I when this morning at 8:00 am sign put out cleaning is in progress, when there is no one is cleaning? The changing room is very disgusting. If you cancel your lesson four hours before they freeze your account.
When the gym is so dry.

Poor old Wavelengths!
Poor old Wavelengths!
Showers broken. Again. Changing rooms filthy as usual.
These would be bearable, as the pool is OK once you get in.
However, it was a huge mistake to put the sauna and steam room next to the fitness pool. People are using the pool to wash themselves as the showers are broken. Lanes are frequently blocked by people who can't swim bobbing around in front of you. There's always at least one person who can't or won't follow the 'swim clockwise' directions, even when it's pointed out to them.
If you can't swim or just want to float about like you're on holiday there is a leisure pool just in the next room. Lifeguards won't enforce any rules (no non-swimmers, no lane blocking, swim clockwise etc). Even when there's clearly a situation developing right in front of them they just carry on staring in to space.
Wavelengths is a great local asset and it's a shame to see it so run down with such low staff morale 🙁

These reviews are clearly fake
These reviews are clearly fake. Looking down the ones I see here, there are ratings for Wavelengths as a library ( it isnt) and for its "outdoor pool" ( it doesn't have one). What a waste of space.
Staff at Wavelengths do their best and the facilities are potentially good ( new steam room/ sauna) but all of this is ruined by the incompetence of the parent company. We renewed our " membership", which was free and enabled us to swim a a lower cost, as pensioners. Now we are told the whole thing has been changed, an annual charge is the only way to swim now. But there is no way to pay this charge and no communication from Better. It is an appalling service. They should definitely not describe them selves as " charitable".

Waste of money
I booked a swimming course for my 4 years old child, costing a lot of money (75£) without having the opportunity to do a trial lesson. My child didn't feel comfortable to get into the water and the swimming teacher wasn't very good at trying to engage her and make her feel comfortable.
I obviously cancelled the course but I wasted all the money. I have asked the refund or a voucher to use the swimming pool but nobody got back to me.
It's a pity you made the people pay all that money without offering the opportunity to try the class first.
