Catalogue of Errors, Argumentative & Dishonesty

I spent over £5000 on various security with this company. I would personally not recommend using them.

I want to provide an honest and balanced review, so will cover the positives too. I'm sure with basic installs that have gone without issue, people will have had good experiences, so you may be lucky. They have some helpful nice people working there, but overall i have had a long, drawn out & stressful experience. I've also found (without making it personal and mentioning names) that the most senior person is argumentative and belligerent making for a really unpleasant experience sorting out the problems.

Summary of Problems:

1. No site survey was offered / conducted, leading to being advised on day of install that extras were required above original quote to give sufficient cover.

2. Only 1 install day was booked initially, giving the false impression that all work would be carried out within that necessary timeframe. Work was finally completed today, many weeks and visits later.

3. An external video entry panel was very poorly installed making a cavity far larger than the mounting panel, causing visible lasting damage and leaving cement visible in the surrounding area and cracks. This was eventually given a basic repair some weeks later, but acceptance of repairs were met with initial resistance (on the basis that house needs refurbishment) and repeated unnecessary time consuming frustrating communication.

4. Alarm system problems - the camera PIRs have the worst quality pictures I've ever seen. This was never explained, although I was told that wireless systems suffer from this generally.

5. The alarm system was behaving erratically, then it was diagnosed as a module having failed, and it was only part functioning. It was reconfigured in the meantime, but it was plagued with false alarms so was unusable for a while.

6. The number of site visits and days wasted at home was around 6 to get the system completed. Some of these were from hardware failures, and some were pure failures on their part (bringing an untested system to demo that didn't work, forgetting parts that needed configuring, lacking knowledge on how to configure sensors etc). Some responsibility was eventually taken and a discount of £340 was applied to the overall price. From that point there were more days wasted, and a further £60 was applied in light of that. However, a further day was then required due to more failures on their part, but despite having caused further inconvenience, there was a flat out refusal to compensate for further time wasted.

7. Who are the other other owners? (Beverleigh & Lia according to companies house) A somewhat bizarre exchange took place when I asked to escalate beyond the person I had been dealing with as it was so unpleasant dealing with him. Initially I was told i'd have to wait until next week, then that was denied, then ignored. When i followed it up i was asked who'd told me that. The engineer who'd worked there for four years seemed unwilling / unable to tell me who they are and what their roles were. I'm not sure why it was dealt with in that way, but it was very strange indeed.

8. Door striker - a door striker was fitted poorly, stopping the door from locking properly. When reporting this back there was initially resistance to attending to it on the basis that it must be the weather/temperature causing it to expand and not due to the new striker. Upon insistence the locksmith returned, made it slightly better, but it was still not locking easily. Again this was put down to weather. On the next visit the alarm installer adjusted the striker, and the door now of course works perfectly as it did before (regardless of weather).

9. Customer Service - on one of the final visits which ended up running on until nearly 9pm (due mainly to parts that got left at the office & having to go and get them) the engineer is instructed not to leave until payment is settled. Having disputed that payment in full should be made with unresolved issues still (fobs that weren't programmed properly, cameras failing to poll at all) and requesting further recompense beyond what had been offered due to more wasted days at home, this was met with a long protracted and highly unprofessional argument. The main tactic that they seem to favour employing is threatening to remove the system, or power it down leaving you without security. I'm sure this kind of intimidation at this point of the install serves them well, but I found this well rehearsed pantomime particularly unpleasant - and no doubt you will too if you decide to use Big Brother and having any sort of problems!

It's a massive shame, as there are some really nice individuals working there, and there was actually a willingness to get it right on their part. I accept that things go wrong, and it was all let down with the attitude and behaviour of the most senior people when it mattered most.

From what I know of them they will respond on here to argue the point and try to defend their points. What matters is that it was a draining, protracted and wholly unpleasant experience, with many failings and some really poor customer service. I'm not bitter, as everything now seems to be working, and a compensation gesture was made (albeit rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things) this isn't a rant, just a warning to choose elsewhere!

Poor Experience

I have had the most terrible experience with this company. We agreed a price then i made a payment for half of the amount over the telephone using my card details. An hour later the owner calls back with a story to say sorry he can not honor the price offered to me because they will not make enough money from the job. I told him it's not on and that he should honor the job because i had paid the deposit, he was not interested at all, no compassion , just thinking about. After venting he then said he would refund me, then i tried negotiating with him and he increased the overall price by 200 pounds. I called the owner back to refund me, and he said he will be taking a 50 pound fee out of the deposit paid. I had to get my legal team involved and reported it to the fraud police team. Totally unprofessionally trader. Poor

Extremely Good Company / People To Deal With

Big Brother are very organised, efficient, tech savvy, and have great people. Dan in Sales was very helpful and answered specific questions rather than having a sales pitch. Ben - who installed our burglar alarm, was top notch. Took his time with us when going through options on where to site PIRs and Control Panel, extremely tidy & professional, and a really nice person. Ben's manager called to see that everything was going OK and gave Ben a hand with some of the practical tasks!!! When the installation was complete - Ben went through everything with us, and answered all our questions. Very very HAPPY WITH BIG BROTHER - AN EXCELLENT BUSINESS - WITH VERY GOOD PEOPLE.

Great service, happy customer

Having done a local Google search I first contacted BBAS Ltd at 9pm at night following an attempted burglary and spoke with Dwayne (try finding another cctv/ alarm company that are still in the office working away at that time!). From what started as an initial price enquiry shortly turned into a deposit and booking for work to get underway, not because I felt pressured into a sale but because of the knowledge and professionalism on the initial phone call and I felt comfortable that these guys know their stuff and could deliver what was needed at a great price.

Within a week a team of BBAS engineers came round and effortlessly installed an amazing cctv and wireless alarm system..no mess, no trailing cables, just a neat & tidy installation by a hard working team of polite guys who turned up at the time they said would, and even rang ahead to say they were on their way. These guys did not stop once they arrived..no standing around drinking tea, I don't think any of them even had a break. These engineers are a credit to the company they work for.

Really cannot fault the team at BBAS, from the office staff to field teams these guys (and girls) know their stuff.

The installation took a full day, took me through how the systems work and were gone by sunset- and it wasn't exactly a small job either. I will be a returning customer and will recommend to all my contacts without hesitation. Neighbours have already been asking where I found them :)

Highly Professional Team!!

I approached Big Brother All Security Ltd (BBAS) when a local installer ditched me at the last moment leaving me in a difficult situation. Right from the first call to BBAS they seemed very responsive and helpful. On my request they arranged for an immediate visit by their engineer, which was very useful.

Their engineers are very knowledgeable and spoke very courteously as well as professionally. I can see they take pride in delivering quality and fully impressed by the work they did. They always arrived on time and completed their work giving full detailed status report at the end of the day. They also cleaned up the area before leaving.

Will certainly recommend BBAS for all your security needs.

Exactly what we wanted

I got the company name from a police list of approved installers. When I first spoke to Dwayne they didn't have exactly what I wanted (remote access on smartphone app connected via the house broadband intent connection ) but true to his word, he went away, researched it and came back with a solution at a good price - and them met the next challenge of installing it within 48 hours. Very happy with the service.

Good customer service, Good workmanship

Had a wireless alarm fitted, the hole process from my initial enquiry to the installation was professional and made easy by bigbrother. I would definitely use them for any future upgrades.

Very happy

Dwayne and Michelle have fabulous customer service, l was explain the different systems in great detail. I was not hassled or rushed in making my decision to make a purchase with the company.
I was advice on a tailor made system, for my needs, which has worked out very well.
Once l agreed to go ahead, it was set up and installed at their earliest date.
I am more than happy with the security they have given to my family.
Will be spreading the word about them to my friends and family.

Phenomenal

I regretted not installing CCTV when I renovated my home after several robberies in my area. However the installation by Big Brother is good that you would think I did the smart thing and installed it when the building works were done. No visible wires and skilful positioning that reduced the number of cameras other security firms suggested I needed.There were some teething problems initially but the dedication of the team to resolve issues mostly caused by router errors outside of their control was excellent. I want to stay in the Big Brother House !!

Great Service

I initially spoke to Michelle who was very friendly and helpful. I have an idea of what I wanted and she help create a package that would suit my family and at a very good price (compared to two other large companies).

The engineers who came to the property were again very friendly, professional, tidy and a credit to the company. They gave us a few suggestions of where the system should be set up and the finish was clean and all wires well hidden.

Overall a great service and very happy we chose Big Brother. I would recommend them to anybody!
