Very painful sales process and spare tyre missing from Car
I bought a car from BMW Camberley in January. While getting an appointment was quick, the overall experience was incredibly poor.
The Buying Process: I spent nearly 8 hours at the dealership. The salesman was overly pushy with upsells despite my clear refusal from the start.
Finance & Part-Exchange: The finance team kept changing the numbers, secretly adding insurance/cover I declined. They offered £400 for a £3.5k part-exchange. When I offered to withdraw the part-exchange entirely, my quoted monthly finance rates suddenly shot through the roof. Check their math carefully.
The After-Sales Nightmare: After driving away, I found faults with the car. Despite a promised 3-month warranty, booking a diagnosis took ages. I was left without a car for a week at a manufacturer garage while nothing was done.
Lack of Resolution: Five months later, the issues were worse, and the garage was still waiting for the dealership to approve repair costs.
My car was eventually written off (external causes), which was a relief as I am sure it still wouldn't have been fixed today, 8 months later. Their after-sales service is absolutely appalling. I bought my next car from a smaller, family-owned dealership, and the contrast in customer care is night and day. Save yourself the headache.
Extremely poor experience with Big Motoring World Camberley — I would not recommend them.
Our experience with Big Motoring World Camberley has been nothing short of stressful, frustrating and completely unacceptable.
We purchased an Audi Q5 from the Camberley branch on 13 August and paid a substantial amount for the vehicle, together with an additional warranty and other products including tyre and scratch cover.
The salesperson dealing with us was Luca. While arranging the deal on 12 August:
We repeatedly told him that we did not want the additional one-year warranty.
Despite this, we felt heavily pressured into buying it.
We were repeatedly told that “anything can happen with the car” and that we “must take it.”
Looking back at what happened only two days later, this has left us extremely concerned and uncomfortable about the way the warranty was sold to us.
Only TWO DAYS after purchasing the vehicle, serious warning signs started appearing.
The car began displaying an SOS warning.
We received messages saying that the vehicle required attention.
We were told that the car needed to be taken to a service centre.
This happened after owning the vehicle for barely 48 hours.
We immediately contacted Big Motoring World, expecting urgent assistance. Instead, the customer service we received was appalling.
We were repeatedly placed on hold.
We were transferred around.
Calls were disconnected.
We struggled to get anyone to take proper responsibility for the issue.
There appeared to be very little urgency despite the fact that we had only just purchased the car.
Eventually, Big Motoring World instructed us to take the vehicle to an approved garage.
After examining the vehicle, the mechanic told us that there appeared to be a major fault requiring significant further investigation and dismantling.
Even more concerning, we were told by the mechanic that, in his opinion, the vehicle appeared to have a significant pre-existing problem.
Hearing this about a vehicle we had purchased only days earlier was absolutely shocking.
We then took the vehicle back to the Camberley branch and spoke to Mr Prasanna Sekar.
He assured us that:
He would investigate the matter.
He would deal with the problem.
He would email us with an update that same evening.
That email never arrived.
Two days later, we called the branch again.
We were placed on hold for approximately 30 minutes.
After waiting all that time, the call was disconnected.
Once again, we were left with no proper answer and no resolution.
For a vehicle costing a substantial amount of money to develop a potentially serious mechanical problem within TWO DAYS of purchase is completely unacceptable.
What makes the situation even worse is the way we have been treated since reporting it.
In our experience:
The after-sales service has been extremely poor.
Communication has been unacceptable.
Promised callbacks and emails have not materialised.
We have spent significant time chasing them.
We have repeatedly been placed on hold.
We have had calls disconnected.
We still do not have a satisfactory explanation.
We still do not have a proper resolution.
We bought this vehicle in good faith and expected a reliable car and professional customer service. Instead, within days, we were dealing with warning messages, a potentially major mechanical issue and a company that, in our experience, has been extremely difficult to deal with once the sale was completed.
The fact that we felt pressured into purchasing an additional warranty after repeatedly declining it makes the whole experience even more concerning.
Based on our experience, I would strongly advise potential customers to:
Get any vehicle independently inspected before purchasing.
Do not rely purely on what you are told during the sales process.
Read every warranty and additional product carefully.
Do not allow yourself to be pressured into buying extras you do not want.
Keep written records of every conversation, promise and complaint.
Think very carefully before spending a large amount of money here.
Selling the car was quick enough. Getting proper help once a serious problem appeared has been a completely different story.
For us, this has turned what should have been an exciting vehicle purchase into an extremely stressful and disappointing experience.
Big Motoring World Camberley has still not provided us with a satisfactory resolution.
Until this is properly resolved, I cannot recommend Big Motoring World Camberley based on our experience.
Company is a scam. Bought a car with these guys which ended up faulty reported it well within 30 days customer services didn't get back to me for a whole month then when they finally decided to agree for diagnostic came up with a gear box issue that took them another month to review and was told to look for another car which didn't go well at all with price negotiations told them I would like to return it back until this time after 3 months when agreed to take the car back was told I had to pay for the mileage which workout around £2500 when then dropped to £2000 which was my deposit I spoke to some over the phone was told that my frustration and stress is worth £2000 at the end when the fault was reported in the first place the car should have been taken off my hands which the company deliberately didn't do that and was charged for the mileage. Having kids and a steady job I couldn't afford to be car less for months they should have given me a courtesy car or returned my money back. A big Scam. People at their branches treat you like they doing a favour by giving you car .

Definately WOULD NOT recommened. Initial "front" of good service was not continuous ! Trust Pilot review as they advertise as 4 1/2 stars in the offices is clearly incorrect. Bad communication , Bad Service !!!

I feel compelled to share my experience with Big Motoring World because I would not want another customer to find themselves in the same position I have been in over the past nine months.
I purchased my vehicle from Big Motoring World in good faith, believing I was buying a reliable, roadworthy vehicle that I would be able to depend on. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite.
Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced ongoing faults, repeated repairs, diagnostic issues, warning lights, costs and constant uncertainty about whether the vehicle is actually going to be reliable. The biggest ongoing problem has been the AdBlue system, which has repeatedly failed despite attempts to repair it.
I have now been dealing with this for approximately nine months. Nine months of having to arrange repairs, speak to different people, wait for authorisation, deal with garages, worry about costs and constantly wonder when the next fault is going to appear.
The most frustrating part is that the exact same AdBlue fault has now returned less than two weeks after the latest repair, which was carried out by a local AA Approved garage on 13th August and authorised by Big Motoring World.
You would reasonably expect that after an authorised repair, the problem would actually be resolved. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
I have also been left personally out of pocket because Big Motoring World would not match the full labour cost quoted by the garage. I ended up having to pay the remaining balance myself just to get the repair completed and collect my vehicle.
I was extremely devastated and frustrated that, after already spending so much time and money dealing with this vehicle, I was still being put in a position where I had to personally pay additional repair costs.
And now, less than two weeks later, the same fault has returned again.
At this point, I have completely lost trust and confidence in the vehicle. I no longer want it. I do not want to spend another few months going through the same cycle of diagnostics, authorisations and repairs, only for the fault to return again.
What has also been extremely disappointing is the communication and the amount of chasing I have had to do. I have had to repeatedly contact Big Motoring World for updates and authorisation while dealing with a vehicle that is becoming increasingly difficult to rely on.
There have been periods where I have been left waiting for responses while the issue remains unresolved. This has added even more stress to an already extremely frustrating situation.
I am now having to deal with the possibility of being left without a usable vehicle because of the remaining mileage and the recurring fault, while I wait for Big Motoring World to provide authorisation and explain what they intend to do.
I have formally raised my concerns and have also contacted Black Horse Finance because I no longer believe another repair is an acceptable solution. After nine months of repeated problems, I am asking for the vehicle to be taken back and for the finance agreement and money I have paid to be properly addressed.
I genuinely feel that I have been left carrying the consequences of a vehicle that I purchased in good faith.
My advice to anyone considering purchasing from Big Motoring World is to think very carefully and do your research before committing.
I went into this purchase expecting a reliable vehicle and a company that would support me if something went wrong. Instead, I have spent nine months dealing with faults, repairs, costs, stress and uncertainty.
A car should not cause this level of anxiety.
I understand that used cars can sometimes develop faults — that is not my main complaint. My issue is the ongoing recurrence of the same fault, the repeated attempts to repair it, the additional money I have personally had to pay, the disruption this has caused, and the way I have felt I have had to constantly chase for answers.
I have now reached the point where I simply want the vehicle taken back and a fair resolution reached.
I hope Big Motoring World will finally take responsibility for the situation and provide a proper resolution. However, based on my experience so far, I would strongly encourage potential customers to think carefully before purchasing and make sure they fully understand what support they will receive if serious recurring faults arise.
This has been one of the most stressful and frustrating experiences I have had with a vehicle purchase, and I would not want another customer to go through what I have experienced.

The whole process went like clockwork. From the advice about different cars with no pressurised sales. The information about after sales warranty and car body protection with yet again no pressured sales. The pickup was seamlessly and to top it off you can have refreshments throughout your visit.
Only one recommendation is for the sales team to inform the customer about the text for payment, as in this day and age fraud is on the up via texts.

The selling experience was great but the vehicle I purchased had obviously not been through a 200 point inspection. Within a week most systems on the car failed and then it lost its brakes luckily not causing an accident. The garage found over £3000 of urgent repairs including having no rear brake pad material and Big World have left me with the bill.
Update, I received £186 and was told to claim the rest from my warranty who would only pay half and no contact has been made.

I was apprehensive about going to buy a car and the process that involves. Honestly, I neededn’t have been. Big Motoring World is a spacious, welcoming, bright place, we were welcomed with a smile, no sales pressure. We were allowed to look at 3 floors worth of cars, take our time, do it at our own pace. When I got a bit overwhelmed, free milkshakes were available to get my sugar levels up again:) Once we decided, we were paired with Brooke, a lovely sales advisor, who was patient, explained everything clearly, accompanied us on a test drive and simply told us about everything that was on offer without pushing us to choose anything we didn’t want to. From the moment we arrived till the moment we drove away in out lovely car, we felt relaxed. The processes and handovers between staff work seamlessly. Well done Big Motoring World:)

Extremely disappointing experience
We spent several hours at Big Motoring World’s Camberley branch looking at a Volvo that we were genuinely interested in purchasing.
While there, we found an identical vehicle advertised elsewhere at a lower price, which we believed clearly met the criteria of Big Motoring World’s own Big Price Promise. We went through all the details with the manager at the branch, who agreed that it appeared to meet the criteria and sent everything through to Head Office for approval.
That was last Friday.
Since then, I have spoken to no fewer than 12 different members of staff. I have repeatedly been told that someone would come back to me, both by the branch and by Head Office. Despite numerous promises, nobody has actually followed up with a meaningful response.
At this point, the issue isn’t even whether they ultimately agree to honour the price promise. It’s the appalling communication and complete lack of follow-through. We were serious buyers, had spent hours at the dealership, and were given every indication that our query was being escalated and would be dealt with.
Instead, I have had to repeatedly chase different members of staff, explain the situation again and again, and now appear to be being completely ignored.
For a company of this size, this is simply not acceptable. If you make a commitment to come back to a customer, actually come back to them.
Sadly, what started as a genuine intention to buy a car from Big Motoring World has turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. I would strongly recommend making sure you are happy with the level of customer service before committing to buying from them.

Found decent vehicle online through their website - Mini Countryman, arranged test drive. Arrived to do the test, unfortunately a longer wait than one would expect so wasn't off to a good start. Had a trade in vehicle to be appraised - shocking value, took it elsewhere and received double, that same day, so wasn’t like we even attempted to sell privately or haggle, just wanted to get the new car and move things along ASAP. Response was very poor as to why the discrepancy from salesman. We were cash buyers and he pushed hard to have a look at finance, so as 'to just give us an opportunity' pitch. Low and behold the crazy finance option with the added 'hidden' add-ons of polish, leather treatment, tire repair etc etc, low value individually, but exorbitant over the term. The pitch of the finance was clearly an attempt to ‘hide' the add-ons within the finance, as cash buyers the relative cost would be obvious. Non functioning side mirror button that wasn’t working, we were told part would be ordered and installed in around 2 weeks was closer to 5 weeks. All in all, a poor experience leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of the customer - with all the motor dealerships around you think this would be a slick and upfront pitch. Will definitely not be back

I’ve written in before about my experience of buying a car from you, unfortunately the experience has worsened.
I bought a car from you 2 1/2 weeks ago and had to pay a holding deposit of £500 as I wasn’t able to collect the car until the following day. I was advised on collection that the finance team have requested my holding deposit refund with head office.
Fast forward 2 weeks I went back into the Camberley dealership to chase up where my refund was, to be told nothing could be done on a Sunday as head office is closed. I called the number on your website today as I still haven’t received my refund, to be told by the guy on the phone Camberley should of sorted this, he then blind transferred me through to Camberley collections who didn’t know my situation and thought it was about something else. The lady then tells me it is head office accounts that has to deal with it but couldn’t transfer me back through, I then requested for this to be escalated to a manager as I shouldn’t be the one having to chase this to get resolved, to be told no managers were on site today. I then called back the head office number to be told I’ll get a response within 3-5 working days, absolutely shocking experience, I’ve already waited 2 1/2 weeks for something that can be done in seconds.
I still need my refund back, can someone from your company please take ownership of this and resolve the problem.

We had to wait a long time for a salesman to see us even though we had pre-booked an appointment and test drive; salesman was not very knowledgeable of car’s electronic features (he did try); when we sat down to discuss deal, before any money could be discussed we had to watch a demo of a seat protection liquid and listen to an attempt to sell an additional warranty. He then went to the office and produced a sheet of paper with the finances on it - which I was not allowed to take away! Having been promised a minimum of £6450 if in poor condition for Mini Clubman I was offered £4000 and was told it was non-negotiable. A waste of a three-hour car journey -
not ethical!

Worst experience ever, do NOT buy from this company!!! Having to take them to court after being misled and miss sold, having raised 6 mechanical issues within 14 days of purchase they still haven’t taken any accountability and have ignored all consumer rights acts.
Company should be shut down, absolute shambles and pretty much just a massive scam.
Save yourself the hassle and stress and buy from an actual dealership because I sure wish we had now.
