Very poor experience with Big Motoring World Peterborough.
I was asked to sign handover documents before being properly allowed to inspect the vehicle again, which makes their later reliance on “accepted as seen” highly questionable. I raised a cosmetic issue at collection and was assured it would be resolved, but this has not been followed through.
Customer service since has been dismissive, with little accountability or meaningful action taken.
I would strongly advise anyone to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before signing anything and get all assurances in writing.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend.

Beautiful, welcoming setting. Had booked an appointment time - they were expecting me and I wasn't kept waiting to discuss and see the car.
Had to wait quite a while for the final paperwork to be signed, which was shown us briefly on paper, but gone through and signed digitally, then confirmed on an email later. Seemed excessively lengthy process.
Disappointingly, I saw the car initially on a different site at a lower price, because bigmotoring world charge a £300 admin fee, which was not mentioned.

Truly terrible experience with this company that you should be aware of before buying from them. In February 2026 I spent £30k for a quality SUV hybrid after a very nice salesman looked after us well and offered the car we were looking for that was just in and not listed. It was promised to us valeted, fully charged and with a full tank of diesel when we were to pick it up.
That had to be 2 weeks later because cars sold must go off site the same month. We took a long train journey up to the site (Peterborough) The car was not valeted, fuelled up or had any charge in the hybrid battery. Having no other option we took the car. Only with one key because the other was likely to follow as the car was so new in.
Two days after the 150mile drive home the engine management light came on. I’d arranged a post purchase inspected with an independent Mercedes specialist so took the car to them to diagnose. It was a Solenoid fault relating to cooling of the lithium batteries. £540 to fix, and should be covered under warranty. I logged my warranty claim.
I was contacted by Big Motoring Assist some days later offering £300 toward the cost. When I asked why tis was (over 3 e mails) explained as their limit on labour at £85/hr and not paying for OEM parts. I can get the part half price off Ebay. 100%, confirmed in writing.
Over the next two weeks I tried to persuade Big Motoring assist that £120/hr was a fair rate (Halfords @ £115/hr and Mercedes @ £240/hr) and that buying my own parts off e bay was massively hazardous and unusual. They only found one firm who supposedly would do the job at their rate. I called them and they declined the job.
Big motoring assist then suggested I take the car from Brighton to Sheffield to do the work.
At this point a second raft of more serious. Battery related errors appeared and the car became completely unusable. Effectively dead on my drive, preventing the back up car from being used and not locking. At this stage I asked to return the car within my 30 days return period under consumer rights.
At this stage you get passed from pillar to post, and at every turn all people want to do is push you away or pass you on, No body, and I mean absolutely nobody will take ownership of a problem. The person you get an e mail from will never answer the phone to you. When they pass you to someone else it is often in another branch. The staff don’t speak to each other; you cannot copy them both into e mails and ever speak to them. Net result is it’s extremely hard to get answers, ownership, decisions made and it’s very easy for them to fob you off and excel at the worst customer experience I have ever encountered …. By some way
I sent 40 e mails and made 32 calls over a two-week period. It was suggested I tow it to a garage, but not which one or where because none will work for their rates or using the e bay supplied parts. It was also suggested I roll it off the drive onto the road. Which you cannot do with a dead 3-ton hybrid car … which would then be towed away from a controlled parking zone.
Finally, RAC removed the car to Enfield. Now only Enfield will speak to me as car is with them. They say car is fixed was just a flat battery due to not being driven much after they got it. The 150-mile trip home and daily use/charging excluded.
I advised I’d take the car back with £1000 toward a decent warranty… that was refused. Or the same model car £1,000 cheaper so I can buy a proper warranty for it. Also refused. Or a full refund plus compensation for the shocking experience I have had and lack of use of a car .. refused. Refund and not a penny more is all you will get …. If you are lucky.
The previous owner sold the car with both keys. Big motoring world lost of kept the other one.
The motoring ombudsman cannot/will not help. I spoke with them They will take 6 months to evaluate your claim to a point of investigating and then 6 months to investigate. If you accept a refund, you have no case. They also do not investigate service-related issues.
This company really are the pits. Just read the reviews … Buy a car from a smaller independent who offers a decent warranty, a private seller or a main dealer used. You may be lucky, but I suspect all sensible dealers offload their “pup” cars to Big Motoring World, and as other than the system held service history you will have no idea what work has been done it’s a huge gamble. Their warranty is a total con, useless…. You are affectively on your own…. Do not be fooled.

From initial phone call by the call centre who were very professional and supportive, then on entry to the Peterborough dealership after a 2 hour drive we were greeted by Karim who dealt with our enquiry professional and with courtesy. Although the options and ancillary benefits were offered, there was no hard sales just the benefits of the additional products. We were then handed over to Cameron who did the final paperwork and hand over very efficiently and answered any questions easily. Everyone at this dealership is a part of a great and polite team of this dealership and made us feel very welcome. The facilities were excellent and clean and drinks were also available on a hot day. Test driving a vehicle was very prompt and swift. Was definitely worth the long drive and we left purchasing an excellent vehicle at a great price. Wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future. Well done team Peterborough, keep up the super customer service!

From searching for a car to buying and then attending to car tax, what a wonderful stress free experience. Denzel is a welcoming friendly member of staff who looked after us and made sure we made an informed decision with no pressure. We were offered beverages and made to feel relaxed. Shamyaq was experienced and helpful and Cameron friendly and knowledgeable. A wonderful experience from start to finish.

Aftersales is not good at all. Paid for warranty and purchased car in Feb 2026, still have no full warranty documents and wait... there are problems with the car and trying to sort it out is a nightmare. Number 25 in call queue every time you call is not good. Give them a wide berth. I wish I had.
The warranty docs are not in the app, as I have requested and said on 4 occassions. Now they have emailed me, after me requesting for the 4th time.

Negative Review
We purchased a car from the Peterborough branch and unfortunately had a extremely disappointing experience.
The car was sold to us without road tax, which we were not made aware of at the time. Just two days after purchase, the vehicle broke down, causing immediate inconvenience and concern and expense. You cant recover a vehicle without car tax.
After owning the car for over a year, we later discovered that it had previously been repaired using filler, something that was never disclosed to us. When we contacted customer services, the response was extremely poor.
More recently, just over a year into ownership, the car has required significant repairs, including a new radiator, oil sump, sensor and now potentially a clutch and even a gearbox. (This is the second time the car has been recovered since owning it). After spending a substantial amount on the vehicle, we would not expect to face this level of ongoing issues.
Big Motoring World may have not fulfilled their duty of care when selling this vehicle. We feel we have effectively purchased a car that should never have been sold. The customer service team have been unhelpful and, at times, rude, it really has been appalling.
We would strongly advise others to avoid purchasing from here and instead choose a reputable dealership that takes responsibility for the quality of the vehicles they sell and genuinely cares about their customers.

I recently purchased a vehicle from Big Motoring World Peterborough. I paid extra to have it moved there so it was closer to me.
The buying process was smooth and the staff were helpful. It was a good price and had full dealer service history.
At my appointment before the test drive I noticed a small deep stone chip on the drivers side door which I believe should have been mentioned as I don't believe it was present originally. Each time I raised this I was told " It is part of buying a used car."
Whilst I appreciate that second-hand cars may have minor imperfections, I had hoped for a more considered response, particularly given the vehicle had been transported prior to collection.
It would have been ressuring if the issue had at least been looked into further or acknowledged somehow.
Overall I remain happy with the car itself, but the handling of the issue was disappointing, it left me slightly less confident in the aftersales support and the extra warranty/insurance options which I declined.

UPDATE 08.05.2026: It's now May and I have still not heard from Big Motoring World in response to an email pointing out which legislation they have contravened in my case. My car purchase was in March. I will now report to Trading Standards, having taken advice from Citizens Advice. I will use the small claims court (Money Claim Online) and have found others who have been inappropriately charged. I have further discovered that I have been charged for a week's insurance, when I opted for a day's policy to cover me getting home with the car. I have been trying to recover a £250 charge relating to DVLA paperwork and I'm still approx £600 out of pocket for the charging of the 'free' paint protection (GardX). For those of you considering a purchase, mine has been nothing short of a nightmare and I therefore maintain my 1 out of 5 star review. I have been completely ignored, despite following all the channels identified by Big Motoring World to resolve this.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I wish I’d have paid more attention to the negative reviews about this company. During the hard sell phase (which was painful), I expressly advised I did not want paint protection, so I was given it for free in the end. However, when it was applied I do not know as there was no time to apply the paint protection while I was there. When I was emailed the receipt a week later, I noticed an approx £600 charge. The purchase/trade in became so complex, I didn’t even notice this when signing. The extra charge did not state ‘paint protection’ - but the brand name of the product. I feel this was specifically designed to deceive me.
Due to the protracted sales process, as many others had mentioned, I did not realise I had been charged for this. Rather than leave an immediate negative review, I chose to email the company via the email address they leave on Trust Pilot, feeling giving them the opportunity to come back to me would be fair. Three and a half weeks later, I have received no reply. Therefore, I am leaving my negative review.
Beware - do not buy from this company unless you are fully informed of their confusing, pushy and lengthy sales negotiation. Big Motoring World - it’s been 3.5 weeks. You stated in your email you’d reply formally to me within 5 days.

On arrival, you're led down a path straight into the showroom, usually you expect to be pounced on by over eager salesman ready to pursue their next commission based sale. Well, not here! Greeted by a receptionist who asked us to write down our details, take a seat at a desk and a sales assistant will come see us. We sat there for 20 minutes while a group of salesmen sat at another desk on their phones, drinking coffee, laughing and joking with each other and swearing. They was aware of ours (and others) presence but chose to ignore us which, after making an hours journey over, we found really quite offensive to leave us sat there ignoring us. If they want to have a break or whatever, that's fine, but go out the back to the staff room or an empty office etc, there was plenty of them from what I could see, don't just sit in front of customers in that manner.
Eventually one of the guys, assuming a manager as he was wearing a suit, went over to the reception who told him we was looking for a Hyundai Bayon. This guy could not be any less interested in our sale. No, we're not buying a high end vehicle but that doesn't mean we shouldn't receive the same level of customer service or respect for that matter. He sat on the computer and bought up the Bayons they had in stock and asked us to look at the screen. Didn't ask what our budgets were, what sort of mileage we wanted, absolutely nothing. I saw there was 2 different trim levels and asked what the difference was between the Connect and Premium, expecting him to say one will hold this, that and the other more than the other, not "well, they're different trim levels". Well, no shit Sherlock I figured that much out! He then googled the answer and pointed at the screen for us to read ourselves which says it all really. I said what our ideal budget was and asked about test driving which he said had to be booked in in advance which was disappointing as we didn't want to make another trip over unnecessarily. instead of showing us the cars which I've always known to be standard service in this industry, he just said what area of the lot was Hyundai's and told us to scan the cars QR code for any questions we had. Absolutely no effort or interest from him.
We went outside and looked around the cars which had not been looked after. Most covered in thick dirt and heaps of bird crap, loads having scratches all over and just generally not being maintained while on the premises. Barely any of the cars are unlocked so its hard to sit in any of them and there's no salesmen around for help to unlock one to look or sit inside etc. Cant imagine they'd be very interested if they where around though. Also on our walk back to the showroom we saw 2 salesmen driving cars back into the secure forecourt beeping and sticking middle fingers at each other in a joking manner. Infront of customers and some that even had children, really?
We eventually just left as decided that if we were going to drop £1000's on a purchase, it certainly wouldn't be here. We walked back through the showroom and nobody asked us if we needed any help or if we found a car we was interested in even though plenty of them around to approach us. Walked out past reception who then just ignored us leaving and didn't even say thankyou for coming or a goodbye.
When going to buy a car at a large forecourt like this there is an expectation for a level of customer service and salesmen with a degree of knowledge for any questions you may have. You're often paying a slightly higher price for that too. I think being respectful and polite to your customers is the basics at least.
Just avoid the place, its not worth it. The guys clearly just have more ego than actual talent as car salesmen.

The service was great, Denzel was helpful without being pushy and helped us to understand all the costs available and explained exactly what is included. First time for my daughter getting a car on finance and she was relaxed and fully informed of what was involved.
