I purchased a lorry for my business in 2024. On 16th April 2024, we drove it to our maintenance provider to do a safety inspection. They found TEN major faults, preventing us from driving the lorry as it was unsafe.
Big Van world would only contribute £300 towards the repairs (despite us paying an extra £1,524.00 for a 12 month HGV warranty). After strongly contesting this, they agreed to pay £540 towards the repairs. We paid for most of the repairs ourselves in the hope that Big Van World would reimburse us. They did not. The repairs totalled £1,318.67.
On the 27th April, we had the vehicle back, MORE faults appeared. Big Van World asked us to return the vehicle to them, they said that they would not collect it from us. We returned the vehicle to them on 29th April and had to leave it there with them. In total, we travelled 165 miles.
After FOUR weeks, they called to say that the vehicle was ready. On Monday 27th May, we went to collect the lorry (another 165 miles) as Big Van World refused to return it to us. When we arrived, the indicators were not even attached, the wires were loose and the Engine malfunction light was still on.
Tasmin from Big Van World said “ drive it back to Wales, it might turn itself off by the time you get back”. It seems Tasmin has little knowledge of HGV’s and I was not prepared to put my driver or my Operator’s Licence at risk. Driving with the Engine Malfunction light on could cause further damage to the engine and surrounding systems.
We would also be fined if stopped by DVSA driving with the Engine malfunction light on.
We left the vehicle there on the 27th May. A total waste of time, fuel and money and again, STILL no vehicle to drive.
After calling for constant updates, the vehicle
Finally came back to us 10 day later, on the 6th June. On the 13th June, the Brake system malfunction light came on, the stability control malfunction light came on and the tyre pressure system light came on. The vehicle was overheating again. There was a build up of sludge in the water again. The brakes kept locking on while the driver was driving which was extremely dangerous.
Big Van World asked us to return the vehicle to them again. I refused to do this and asked them to collect it but they said they would not. I requested that we book it in with Daf, (a main dealer) so that they could do a thorough inspection on the vehicle. Derek from After Sales said that they would be too expensive. He advised me to book it somewhere else. I was not willing to do this again and asked them to book the lorry into a local HGV garage of their choice. They booked it in with a garage and I left it with them on the 20th June. On Monday 24th June, this garage called me to say that they had repaired some things but they suggested that we pay for another safety inspection as they were concerned about the safety of it. Big Van World refused to pay for this. I paid for it myself (£100). The inspection report provided by the garage stated that the vehicle was still not roadworthy. They would not sign it off as safe to drive so we were unable to collect the vehicle and/or drive it. Enough was enough. We contacted Big Van World to inform them that we were refusing the vehicle as it is not fit for purpose.
On 20th June, we had to begun hiring a lorry at the cost of £750 (Plus VAT) per week. Big Van world refused to contribute to this and we hired the lorry for 6 months before eventually purchasing a vehicle from another company that were fantastic and we have had no issues at all with. On the 24th June, we contacted Big Van World and explained to them that we were refusing the vehicle and wanted a full refund.
Big Van world were refusing to take any responsibility. For legal reasons I will not say anything further however, the issue is still ongoing.
I have spent over £11,000 on a vehicle that we only drove for four days. The lorry has since been collected by the finance company and we are left with nothing but a large bill so I urge you, be VERY careful if you choose to purchase a vehicle from this company.

If you’re even considering buying a van from here, read every single word of the contract in detail and question their so-called warranty to within an inch of its life.
We travelled 190 miles one way – a 5-hour journey – to view a van after sending multiple videos, pictures, and detailed descriptions of our own van for part-exchange. On arrival, despite their own mechanic confirming our van was mechanically and structurally sound, they still tried to knock over £1,000 off the agreed price. Presumably they thought we wouldn’t travel all that way and then walk away – they were wrong!
We refused to sign their contract because the warranty they offer is a joke: it’s worth £1,000 plus VAT, and when I asked, “What if I drive this van away and the engine blows up?” their actual response was:
“We’ll give you £1,000 plus VAT – you pay the rest.”
Why on earth would anyone risk that when other companies offer full comprehensive cover?
In my opinion, Big Van World are not to be trusted. They waste your time, lure you in with false promises, and then try to stitch you up on price and warranty. Do yourself a favour – don’t buy from these people.

I made e purchase on 12th of August 2025 for an Iveco pickup truck for £26.000 . I paid the deposit and signed the finance agreement and a warranty was agreed. On the way home after 20 minutes that I left the company the truck lost power. I returned to them straight away and was promised that was nothing serious and they were gona check the issue and solve it. They gave me a small courtesy van so I could return home. The day after they advised it was a sensor that they were gona replace it. The day after they told me that it was electronic control unit ECU and it need to go back to Iveco (Main dealers). I than advised them to replace the truck with an identical one or I would cancel the agreement. They advised me that they didn't have a like for like replacement so than I requested via email a few time the cancellation of the agreement and a full refund which they kept ignoring.
Brilliant van, extremely accommodating and easy to deal with.
