Products are poor and customer service even poorer

I ordered a ceramic heater from them via Amazon. The heater stopped working randomly and non of their troubleshooting worked. I sent two separate emails to them in November 2022 and heard nothing.

Eventually in January I called them and was told to send them an email to initiate my warranty claim. I will note that this call was lengthy because the customer service agent was rude and inattentive and kept offering solutions that did not address the fact that I had a NON FUNCTIONAL UNIT. He consistently cut me off as I tried to preface the issue- probably why it took forever for him to arrive at a warranty claim solution!

Anyway, I sent an email similar to the previous ones in 2022 with all the details needed(essentially copy pasted the exact email from 2 months prior). They got back to me saying that they could only initiate the claim if I send them a picture of the the unit with a cut power cord and a picture of the actual cut power cord detached from the unit. I was away on Safari so I told them I would send them the pictures when I got back.

Fast forward, I send them the pictures and followed up with a call to ensure that they have received the email and are prioritizing it. Their service agent said she sees the email and they would get back to me and if they didn't, I should call them again. Naturally, I wanted to know the average timeline they would get back to me and the medium and the agent yelled at me that she couldn't provide a date. Again, I didn't ask for a date, just an average turn around time so I knew when would be appropriate to reach out again. As we tried to get a timeline on this agent was rude, cut me off multiple times and was generally very unprofessional and unpleasant.

Based on the other reviews here, I am not optimistic that I will get a replacement unit anytime soon if at all. Ofc never purchasing from B+D again and will be utilizing my network to offer precaution.

TLDR: Appliances don't last and their customer service is THE WORST! Slow, absolutely rude and all around inefficient. Save your money and buy from brands with products that last and have staff that value their clients and treat them with respect.

I purchased a 4 slice toaster and it burns my toast on its lowest setting, I reached out to black and decker about it and nobody will do anything for me. I asked a simple question on there shipping method and they wouldn’t give me an answer about how they ship.. so now I’m stuck with a piece of crap toaster that burns my damn toast… they should learn how to back up there product before it goes on the marker… dont sell something that’s defective didn’t know that was legal…

Bought a brand new angle grinder from…

Bought a brand new angle grinder from Homebase. Good price but lasted less than a minute. Motor packed up. Moving production to China probably meant lower production cost but damage to brand image. Will buy other brands in future unless quality improves .

Lazy Customer Service & Slow Response Time

I purchased a protable A/C unit not even a year ago, and it the compressor turned bad within a few months. Loud rattling and shaking. Instead of sending a technician to fix it, B+D gave us a label to send the defective unit back to them & promised to replace it. They told us it would take 2 weeks. Got my service ticket number 17502. So far, so good, despite the bad unit.

Frustratingly, it has now been 4 weeks without a firm answer on when we will have that replacement unit. While a shipping label was created, the tracking has been stuck on "label created" for a week! The unit has still not been given to the carrier to deliver, and no one can tell me why! Every time my wife or I call or email, we don't get any resolution. They just give us the tracking again!

This kind of lazy customer service is unacceptable in this day and age. All they want is your money. As soon as you have a problem, you're low-priority. Unacceptable.

3/22/23 Update: A replacement unit finally arrived on 3/11/23 -- but not the same kind we sent in! Functionally, it appears to have the same functions & dimensions, so I suppose it's an updated model. At least we received it. I am left to wonder if the reason our replacement was held up was because they were scrounging for the exact replacement? I suppose I won't ever know since I still have not had a phone call or email from any customer service agent or manager. They get 1 star back for doing the bare minimum.

Awesome blender

Got myself the 10 speed blender. One gem of a blender this is. Excellent for smoothies and shakes alike. I and my son enjoy coming up with new milkshake ideas with this one all the time.

Unsafe products!

I bought a Black & Decker 1500w space heater just over a year ago as a backup, & needed it this morning. The first time I took it out of the box, plugged it in, & turned it on, it started smoking. I immediately shut it off & unplugged it. I hate to think about what might have happened if it had started smoking while I was asleep. Do not buy Black & Decker products!

Wonderful company, stands behind their products!

I just want to say thank you for a great customer service experience. I had a problem with a BDPC912 large bug zapper, the ultraviolet light bulb shorted out. I checked the warranty and called black and decker (umba group) to see how to go about getting it warrantied. Chanab helped me and guided me through the process which was fairly simple but required a couple of steps for verification. Once verified through email and pictures, she graciously gave me an order number and shipped out a replacement bulb. Great support after the purchase, something more companies need to focus on! I waited a little bit to make sure I wouldn't have anymore issues with the zapper. Its been over 6 months and everything works great. Amazing product from an amazing company!

I couldn’t think customer service could get any more rude!

Spoke with one of the managers. I have three tools that I got told were under the warranty and if I sent pictures of them to an email they will have a replacement called the next day checking up and I got told two different things after speaking to a very rude manager, who was very unprofessional and does not know how to take turns speaking from each side. As a long-term black and decker customer, I will no longer be purchasing from them again due to this experience.

Black and Decker Pivot Electric Screwdriver

Having had 2 Pivot type screwdrivers in the past from Black and Decker and being immensely satisfied with their performance, I recently purchased a Black and Decker Pivot type electric screwdriver but was surprised that what was a once reputable manufacturer with a fine product, has turned this product in particular into complete garbage. Whether it be the need to save money or some sort of new philosophy within the company, Black and Decker has in fact added their name to a growing list of companies who seem intent on destroying their customer base. Using this Pivot Electrical screwdriver is hardly even marginally better than turning a screw by hand.

I purchased a Black + Decker portable…

I purchased a Black + Decker portable fan. The second time I tried to use it, it wouldn’t work. I started the warranty process in May 2022 for a replacement. I have done everything they asked: cut the cord in half, took the pictures they requested. I was told I would have a replacement fan in a couple weeks. With multiple calls now, I request for a supervisor to return my calls. I am told every time that a manager will call me in the next 48 hours. It is almost November and I still have no fan, and no one will return my calls.

Truly the worst customer experience…

Truly the worst customer experience I've ever had. AC unit broke, shipped back with warranty label - was told it would take 2-3 weeks to receive replacement. 3 months later and 20 calls to customer service, I've still gotten no answers on when I'll be receiving a new unit. Spent the whole summer without AC. Everytime I asked a customer service rep to transfer me to a supervisor they said okay then would hang up on me.

I will never again buy a black and decker product and will recommend to all to do the same. Just awful experience.

Workmate 825 quality

I just bought the workmate 825 and to my disgust the product was delivered with no assembly instructions and none available to download. I am an engineeer but i had great rtrouble seeing what went where. Example parts to be fixed had 8 holes but 4 bolts delivered. Impossible to see where these parts should be fixed. The last tool I bought from B & D was of poor quality but the quality has gone down since then.

Black & Decker is mediocre nowadays.

Bought a coffee maker, after I opened I discovered all of the buttons were in Spanish. Now it keeps showing CLEAN, which I did many times but it doesn't show brewing just CLEAN.
What a piece of junk!!! Never buying Stanley black & Decker anything again!!!

Disappointed

My husband had a black and decker dust buster BLACK+DECKER DVJ325BF-GB 27Wh Dustbuster Hand Vacuum with Smart Tech sensors, 35 W, Grey
DONT buy! We had one as our present for our new van so it’s used about three times a year and it won’t charge any more- it’s not even two years- we asked black and decker we don’t have the receipt so they won’t even help! We aren’t liars you can see it’s like new and should still be working!

REFRAIN from buying any B&D product.

Don't trust the positive reviews, they are paid. I'm writing this after careful consideration and after giving too much of my patience and time with Black and Decker. The mop may be good, but for me it gave away after 15 days of use. The steam stopped getting generated. I tried contacting a customer care number on their site, no response. When I approached amazon, I was said its none of their issues, I need to contact a number they gave me. When I tried calling them, which I did a couple of times. I waited in queue for 45 mins, 1 hr, 30 mins. But never did I reach the customer care. When I approached amazon again, I was shared an email to reach out. When I wrote to that email, I received an answer after couple of days. I was assigned a ticket num and a tech number. When I reached out the tech he said he was out so I was expected to reach him some other time. After 2-3 days when I called him again, he asked for my invoice, which I shared. But, still no response. Later he replies on my whatsapp a CALL has been arranged with another technician. The other technician calls me and told me, he might visit in 3-4 days when he is in my area. I'm short of words what to call this company and its services. Its beyond the word pathetic. So people, until when the product is running fine its good for you. Once the product dies, you'll need to buy another, dont expect them to repair. All the warranty thing is a big BS. Please REFRAIN!!!! I'm glad I didnt invest in their high end product. Terrible is small word to describe what I've been through putting up with this company.
