I visited Holborn shop in London ouple…
I visited Holborn shop in London couple of weeks ago with my daughter.
We were helped by Gavin who was absolutely great. He spent time to explain the items (different rock sac and sleeping bags) with kindness and professionalism. We have now used the items and been super happy. Thank you Gavin!

Great outcome from an uncomfortable situation
I went to Blacks at Holborn to buy a pair of walking trousers. The label on the end of the rack said the trousers were £25. When I took the trousers to the till they came up as £47. I explained to Karen who served me that the rack label said £25, when she went to check she found the label had been put on the wrong rack. This was obviously embarrassing for me and awkward for her. However as a gesture of goodwill she arranged to give me 15% discount which dispelled any awkwardness and allowed me to buy the trousers without breaking my budget too much. Really great outcome from an uncomfortable situation.

I went to Blacks shop I am not very experienced at camping ,Gavin helped me with my boots even measured my feet for correct fit also helpful with type of tent required , Karen was also very helpful finding the tent and with payment , something you don’t get on the internet, would visit shop again.

Holborn branch, great experience for the family.
This was a visit to the Holborn branch to purchase DofE kit.
Gavin was a credit from the moment he first greeted us to us leaving the store.
He took us through all the list items, recommended/suggested various options and did his best to keep the costs down. He had plenty of experience in this area and was so very helpful.
It was a little more than i expected in costs but that's retail for you these days.
Credit to Gavin and hope his input is recognised by the business.

Excellent service from Gavin in the Holborn branch of Blacks.
I had come to the store to try on boots, Gavin helped me even though he was serving another customer. He was so skilled that neither of us suffered from having to share him! I wanted to try on two boots, Gavin suggested a third option, then he measured my feet - not had that since I was a child! Suffice to say, Gavin's recommendations on both which boot to choose and what size were spot on. he is attentive, knowledgable, cares about what he does and really understands both the outdoor world and customer service. Whilst lots of sales people in stores seem not to care, Gavin really does. he went the extra mile for me and his other client.
Truly impressive.

Professional Pleasant knowledgeable friendly staff
Wanted a pair of fell boots but required help. Went to Blacks Holborn branch. Gavin measured my feet and recommended scarpa gtx as best for my purpose. Tried on boots no pressure to buy. I left the store and later decided these are the boots i wanted. Phoned store and manageress Georgina reserved them for me to collect. Georgina served me at the till i have a blue light card and she was able to give me a very generous discount on the boots and two pairs of walking socks. The boots are great a big thank you to Gavin and Georgina I will be back to Holborn branch for any future purchases

Went to a store - had quite a poor experience. An item was mislabelled as a sale item, but to discover this I wasted a lot of time trying them on, then hunting down the item on their system and in the store. Not sure it was my responsibility to do this…then the person on the till was told off quite harshly by the manager in front of me. Then I was told that the item I was trying to buy would never be on sale for such a low price so I should have known… then finally the item I did purchase set off the alarm because it hadn’t been deactivated. Next time, I’ll just buy online…

We were shopping in the Holborn store…
We were shopping in the Holborn store for some clothing and equipment for my daughter, who is doing her DofE, where we were helped by one of the staff called Lee.
He was able to give us advice on clothing and items such as rucksacks and sleeping bags.
Even better, Lee was a DofE assessor, so my daughter was able to ask him things about her expedition. I think chatting to Lee helped solve some of the worries she was having, and we managed to get some of her equipment at a good price.
