Rain served me today- she was great! I was in a hurry but she sorted out a fantastic pair of boots for me, helped me get the YHA discount and couldn’t have been more helpful. This is why I keep coming back to Blacks, as Amy Winehouse never said!

Just back from South Downs with sore…
Just back from South Downs with sore toes - as my boots - expensive - where not big enough. I saw today online a pair - really flashy- Merrell Antora sneaker boots and yes they would be great but wait I am confused about which size ? So dashed into Holborn store and Gavin came to the rescue - over foot sizing - measuring my feet and pointing out different size of each foot - and corresponding widths with makes. Also push the toes to the front ( without lacing up ) and stick 2 fingers sideways between your heel and boot. A lesson in lacing came next. Gavin said he knew about shoes and he certainly talked the talk and lived up to it.
I would not have ordered the size 8 boots online ( I am 6.5 ) but Gavin gave me a pair of size 8’s Merrell Accentor in the shop and they fit beautifully.
Nothing was any trouble as he got alternative shoes for me to try as well.
I am so glad I went in person as I know I wouldn’t have bought the correct size online and would have had sore toes again.

Henna and Georgina were Amazing after destroying one of my jackets in the washing machine not only did they advise me on how to fix it with one of the Ball kits and after I still wanted to purchase a warmer jacket they advise me with a lot of information about the product and help me with fitting and sizing Customer service was amazing and were very happy and proactive thank you what are amazing experience

The personal service I received in Holborn was best I any shop for a long while. He was proactive and helpful, and when they didn’t have what I was looking for in stock ordered it to be delivered directly to my home for free.

A Good Experience!
I visited Black’s in Holborn to return a pair of trainers I had bought in another store and which just did not fit me properly. The staff were most helpful, especially Gavin, who was so knowledgeable about footwear and took a great deal of his time making sure I left the store with a pair of well-fitting shoes; I am now so pleased with my new purchase! Great service at Holborn branch
If you need walking shoes then Gavin is your man at Holborn branch. He enjoys what he does and has a thorough knowledge of every brand on sale. I needed something other than the women's North Face Hedgehogs which I had relied on for years because now their quality has gone down, so he explained the difference between brands then selected 3 to try and I was all done in 35 minutes or so.

I got some Peter storm walking boots in…
I got some Peter storm walking boots in the morning and was assisted by the lovely Tas she was very helpful assisting the most suitable shoes for my work. I left happily however I came back only 2 hours later as the eyelet came off. She quickly sorted me out with a different shoe and gave me a faulty exchange and discount for the inconvenience. She made a difficult situation so much at ease. Neha also served me for my first shoe and they both were very professional. They are a gem in this store and deserve a pay rise!!!!
