Fantastic experience with the team at blue cross Thirsk, they asked us to meet buddy and Bella and we fell in love with them instantly. We took our little boy to meet them a few days later and a couple of days after that we went to pick them up. The team gave us all the information we neeer and more, it was clear how much they care the dogs in their care get the right home, and buddy and Bella are perfect for our home

I came home with my dog Perdy who I adopted from the Herfordshire rescue centre. Everyone I met at the centre was lovely. It was quite evident how much they cared about Perdy and what was best for her. Big thank you to Leigh and Paige, and thank you for letting me adopt her.

The team have been so communicative with me throughout the adoption process and after, made sure I had all the information I needed, took my comfort into consideration and paired me up with the most perfect cat that has been an amazing addition to our lives. So so grateful for the Thirsk team, they’re doing amazing work and couldn’t recommend them enough!

I have recently fostered a Shetland pony from Blue Cross. Lucy and Mia have been really helpful with great communication during the process.

I have recently had the privilege of rehoming an amazing 19yr old mare,
Blue cross were so helpful and friendly, answered any questions I had, the whole process was professional, and easy, and the horse was the most important and put first, if I had space would definitely contact them again x

We had an amazing experience. The staff at Thirsk were really helpful and really talked about how the process would work as we had never rescued before. Very helpful when we were leaving and gave us bowls and collars at a great price.

Very responsive and clear communication. I met Missy quite soon after my enquiry and an agreed rehoming day at this first visit. Lots of really good information. Everyone I met helpful and engaged.

Sometimes we thought it would be nice for our French Bulldog to have a companion. When ever we looked at the BlueCross website and found what we thought would be suitable, it always had the same description 'Must be the only dog in the house' some even add 'No children' So obviously these dogs have issue with dogs and children. I bought a frenchie through a well known site, but found that the dogs were not compatible. We took them on parralel walks, spent time in the garden, but it didn't change anything, so reluctantly, we decided she would have to go. I contacted Burford Blue Cross and the folloing day received an email from Laura Crofts , Assistant Manager, saying 'We can't help you as your dog has issues'. I emailed back pointing out that the issue was the same as many of the dogs they are trying to rehome. I got an automated reply that said she was out of the office and would reply on Monay' Monday came, no reply. Are they really interested in animals or just donations?

We have used the blue cross for several years and always left sizable donations. Then came covid and the blue cross CHARITY decided that they no longer wanted to be a charing organisation that put the animal first and costs second. first they implemented a consultation fee that was the 1st yr they found people would pay that so they made changes again the 2nd yr came consultation fees with a banding scale and an increased consultation fee and only really offering reduced prescription costs and started charging for neutering which are way to high for most people on benefits to afford ie neutering /spaying was around £250 so it will be left for other charitys like BATTERSEA or RSPCA to deal with unwanted puppies wheres the sense in that, then came 2026 and now its practically a private vets if the dog needs surgery they will watch it suffer until you can pay 80% of the overall fee your going to be charged before they will operate so for my elderly dog to have a lump removed its now £200 + medications and when you only get £600 a month on benefits this is impossible for me to manage. I got my dog 11 yrs ago and would never have got him if I thought I would have to watch him suffer as i don't have the money for treatment. I will not have any more pets which is sad as I'm a loving owner but I truly can't afford to have a companion so will end my days lonely after having dogs all my life I feel the blue cross has lost its way and is no longer a charity its now a subsidised vets I feel very strongly about this as I never abused the system or expected the care for free I always left good contributions and always donated food and money to them but now when I need them they are now longer there.
Great communication. Everything was covered comprehensively and the everybody was lovely and veryhelpful.

Caroline and the team at Bromsgrove Rehoming Centre were absolutely fantastic and I couldn't be happier with my little pal Buzz (was Buddy). The communication was fantastic and Buzz is a (not so) little ray of sunshine. He may be an older gentleman, and he may only have one eye, but he has the most amazing personality. He's settled in brilliantly. He loves his food, which helps with training, and he's just the best sofa mate. Thank you so much :-)

We collected Cesar from Blue Cross Burford. He is settling in well although rather timid. He enjoys his food and uses his cat litter tray. We have bought him a few toys and are starting to teach him how to play. He is currently curled up beside me and he likes to try out all the chairs and has found a good hiding place climbing into the back of the settee at his most timid.

Amy was so helpful and everything went smoothly when rehoming our beautiful, sensitive pony with the Blue Cross. It was a difficult decision to make, but the right one for our pony, and I felt supported throughout the whole process.

All the staff we dealt with were helpful. We initially applied for a kitten but missed out. I was contacted a short time latter by the thirsk rehoming centre and matched to a different litter and a few weeks later got to bring home our new family member.
I was kept up to date throughout and the transition was seamless I was given lots of tips on how to settle him in and meet our resident cat and he’s the absolute best friends with his big sister now.
A great service I would recommend.

We rehomed a cat from Blue Cross at Thirsk on Valentine's Day. We were so impressed by the lovely welcoming and kind staff who organised our adoption. We were given lots of advice on the day as well as information and links on how to settle Barney into our home, introduce him to our dog and support him to explore outside. This advice was invaluable - especially at the inevitably difficult moments when it was one step forward, two steps back. Barney is a fabulous, affectionate and playful addition to the family. A real love bug. Huge thanks to the Thirsk team

I rehomed a 12.2hh companion pony. The initial discussion of possibilities was extremely useful and they were very knowledgeable about the individuals and their suitability. Once the decision was made the process was very quick and straight forward, they made it very easy.

We had a great experience gaining our beautiful cat from Thirsk. I was really impressed with how much space the cats had, the cleanliness and the kindness being shown with their blankets and toys being provided. All the staff we encountered were really helpful and knowledgeable about the animals there and they clearly knew them as individuals. The whole process was efficient and thorough. I would recommend anyone to go here. A big thank you to everyone that works and volunteers here for looking after the animals so well before they go to their forever homes.

Application process was far more user friendly than some other organisations. Meeting our new dog from going to meet her, then picking her up was welcoming, clearly explained and felt like a special occasion. The centre was clean, well organised and very pleasantly located. Plenty of useful advice, and advice available afterwards too.
