Blue Pearl cares about money

Blue Pearl cares about money. The end

They are working very hard at removing my review but what I am stating is what took place. If yelp is doing it then they need to tell me what about my review violates the TOS. Be specific Yelp! Blue Pearl deserves 0 stars. There are good people there, but they are the ones that need to be running the show. As with every negative review against Blue Pearl, their paid shill will get on here and deflect blame and try to confuse the readers. Maybe some of them were lucky to have a good experience. Here is what happened: I took my kitty around 2/2/23 to get an ultrasound. My regular vet recommended them. That was a big mistake. That and some tests and came to about $700 or more as I recall. Anyway, I took her there for an ultrasound and they confirmed that she had cancer. They up sold more expensive diagnostics so I could fork over $3000 more. olsen and her recommendations she gave me were horrible. When I asked her about chemotherapy for my cat, she claimed that chemo would not work because in GENERAL it does not work! So because SOMETIMES chemo does not work, then it will not work for my cat either! That is just breath taking! That is a big, giant assumption. That was incredibly bad advice. During the waits I was giving her medicines as rxed. Anyway, I went to take another ultrasound to compare how far along my kitty was or not and wanted to do this since her next appointment was upcoming. BUT olsen made the brilliant recommendation to wait LONGER before bringing her in to diagnose her! How much longer? As in we will do this in the NEXT appointment after the upcoming appointment. I am layman but I knew something was askew, but I could not put my finger on it. She knew approximately how much time my kitty had but Blue Pearl primarily cares about money, that is it. She should lose her license permanently. The animals' well being is a distant second. In the meantime I set up another appointment with another vet. Anyway, later on they did the ultrasound and according to olsen, the tumor grew "a little bit". What does that mean?? Also, anytime I spoke to her which took forever to get her to speak to me, she would leave me more confused than before I asked her! They never drained my kitty of the fluids properly which caused her inflammation either. Well one time they took a bit but they were supposed to remove those fluids that caused her bloating from her but it was clearly not enough. Anyway, I took my kitty elsewhere but it was too late. She died a few days after I went to the appointment with another vet. Do not get me started on the offensively rude receptionist. She is an overweight woman with glasses, curly fake red hair, and pale complexion. I asked her a question and she just ignored me! She just kept typing who knows what. I could have waited all day and she would have just bury her face in the screen and ignore me. She was very rude and when ANY of the front desk people are rude or give off bad vibes, get out of there! Cancel the appointment right there or do not come back. It is just the tiny tip of of a very large iceberg. DO not go to this place, EVER. NO! Save the life of your animal companions by not going there. They contributed to her death. The thing I said about the dumpster is true based on other reviews. (UPDATE: Well, this is not yelp so no shills to force removals of reviews. Anyway, the reviewers stated that they have seen deceased animal companions callously put in the dumpster.) They forced me to remove the specifics.

It’s a joke

It’s a joke. Went to BP in Delaware. After waiting 4 h and not seeing a vmd plus never told at onset we would be there this many hrs and more. No explanation except there’s now only 1 VMD and they need to chart, discharge see ICU pets before our emergency. Which was truly an EMERGENCY! Practice Admin did nothing but apologize. We left and we’re seen at Ryan Hospital which is part of Univ. Of Penn. Great ER.
Blue Pearl should learn to be a true ER.

They killed my dog

They killed my dog, then instead of taking responsibility, tried to blame it on him. I will never stop telling people what a horrible place BluePearl is, ESPECIALLY their internal medicine department. Their attitude was "He's just a dog." That was said directly to my face. I have no monetary recourse or I would have sued their internal medicine specialist a long, long time ago. So take all of this how you will, but I urge you to not risk your baby's life with these incredibly callous people. Thank you for your time.

Avoid this place if you have a pet and value your own safety.

This place is, BY FAR, the worst place I've ever brought an animal. I will drive to another city to get my animal treated before coming back here. The day we went, it was a nightmare of 6 hours in the emergency room just to be seen, and it seems like other people had to endure the same torturous wait.

While we were waiting, we witnessed a horrifying incident with a dog in the waiting room. The poor dog had a massive infection the size of an avocado on his thigh, and it eventually ruptured, spewing blood and pus all over the seating area. It looked like a balloon with a pin hole, it was spraying a creamy pink fluid six inched out from its thigh. We immediately alerted the front desk as the situation unfolded, but it took an eternity for a vet tech to finally emerge. Instead of taking swift action, all she did was hand the distressed owner a few gauze and disappear back inside. The woman struggled to clean up the mess with three boxes of Kleenex and countless paper towels, and to our dismay, none of the staff bothered to clean or sanitize the bench where the dog had been. It's absolutely appalling to think that the next unsuspecting person might sit down without any knowledge of the horrifying scene that had just taken place there.

Adding to the chaos, our own beloved pet, who was placed in the back holding area, required anti-seizure medication while we waited. When we asked the front desk about administering the medication, they had no clue that our pup was even in the back. This lack of communication and awareness left us in a panic, unsure if our dog was receiving proper care or observation.

The problems continued as we sought medical attention for our pet. The hospital admitted that they were severely understaffed and might not even have enough personnel to read x-rays. Yet, they had the audacity to charge us a staggering $300 for a service they might not be able to provide. Furthermore, they pushed for additional lab tests, but we refused, eager to escape this nightmarish place with our dog as soon as possible.

The entire ordeal was exhausting and infuriating. We walked in at 5:00 PM and were finally able to leave by 1:20 AM, feeling almost more upset than when we first arrived. The combination of negligent staff, unsanitary conditions, and their unprofessional approach to medical care is unforgivable.

In conclusion, I cannot emphasize enough how terrible my experience was at this pet hospital. The lack of care, concern, and professionalism displayed here is alarming, and I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this place at all costs. Your pets deserve better than the incompetence and callousness that this hospital has to offer.

I'm sorry we went there

I'm sorry we went there. Our dog had a tumor and needed scans, that only they did. Talked us into $8,000 surgery which just made the end of his life more miserable. Bill was $10,500. As soon as they realized we were not going to spend another Five thousand dollars they said there was no hope and just put him to sleep. They string you along if they think you will pay more, drop you like a rock when you have had enough

A Pet Hospital that will soak you for money and not provide you with medication that they prescribe.

Just Some Important Information Regarding Blue Pearl Pet Hospital on 9472 S.27th Street Oak Creek Wi. For All Dog Lovers - I took my dog there only because it is a Holiday Weekend. Please Do Not Take Your Animals this place. They will put your dog in a cage and leave you in a waiting area for a long time. I took my dog there for an ear infection and they sent me home with an ear cleaner. They gave a prescription for a medication that has to be ordered through the internet. What good does that do when I need the medication now. Why even call this a pet hospital when they prescribe a medication they don't have. How does that help my pet. They charge an enormous amount of money and don't give you the needed medication. They are Rude and Condescending in how they speak to their customers. They will Soak You Out Of Alot of Money. I Highly Recommend Frontier Urgent Care 6821 W. Layton Ave. Greenfield WI where I had taken my dog before. They Care for your pet with Great Results. The only reason why I didn't this time is because my dog doesn't do well on longer car rides. My vet was difficult to get in because of the holiday weekend. I made a HUGE MISTAKE In Taking My Dog to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital but I will NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN!!!

Lack of expertise, compassion, or sense of urgency.

This pertains to the Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital in Franklin, Tennessee.
I am unable to type a complete review of my experience within this text box. I am in possession of a typed account of the situation for any who wishes to know. I have reached out to the customer experience professionals of Blue Pearl. The experience I had was of complete lack of sense of urgency, lack of clinical expertise, and lack of compassion in the treatment of my pet. My pet passed on that day. Whether or not that death could have been prevented will always be a question in the shadow of the above components. I will never utilize this agency again. I will encourage any pet owners, rescue organizations, or animal advocates to do the same. My purpose in writing this review is:
1) A hope for change in practice at above hospital.
2) To help other pet lovers avoid the heart rending experience that was mine.
Specific components included:
1) Lack of preparation (no staff prepared to receive critical pet that they had foreknowledge of receiving)
2) Lack of communication (contradicting information given by several staff members, including repetitive demands for payment information that had already been given to other staff members)
3) Lack of operational knowledge for medical equipment (lack of knowledge in operating IV pumps, warmer device)
4) Promises of treatment unkept (promises for blood products that were anticipated for one hour, never initiated)
5) Prolonged time frames in order to acquire treatments in an emergency situation (30 minute wait time to acquire critical medication that was located in the adjoining room)
6) Refusal to assist when asked for help (when one staff member could not operate medical equipment/deliver emergency medication, requests for assistance to complete task were denied)
7) Lackadaisical attitude towards emergency medical events in pets (staff members setting aside emergency tasks to hold casual conversation with other staff members, look up items on google unrelated to patient care, etc)
8) Callous attitude upon death of pet. (Staff members joking, yelling, carrying on casual conversation immediately beside deceased pet and owner, as pet and owner are attempting to move to adjoining room designated for grieving persons).

I will stop here, though I could continue.
This needs to change.

NEVER GO HERE!

So, DO NOT ever trust Blue Pearl "emergency" vet care! My 2 1/2 yr old GSD came down with bloat last night about 7. Almost every vet in the area refers you to these clowns. I called and they informed me they were closing at 10 and taking no new animals. I ended up in Columbia at CVet....wonderful, very professional people. They took him immediately into surgery and he is recovering. Bloat is a life threatening issue and every handler/breeder I talked to today said they had never heard of a emergency vet turning away a bloated animal. Indeed, CVet said my dog went immediately to the head of the list when they determined it was bloat. A word to the wise is sufficient.

These people are taking advantage of…

These people are taking advantage of peoples love and emotion for their pets - BluePearl does not care any ones pets only the mighty dollar - I had to take a cat there since it was recommended by my primary vet - it cost over $4,800.00 to tell me my cat had cancer - I have cancer myself and it did not cost no $4,800.00 more like $1,000.00 - I don't know why vets recommend such a place - GREED should be in their name

Expect to be treated like you are buying a used car

We are grateful that our little dog looks like he is going to be fine. The medical side of the care, which is most important, was good. However, we were treated in a grossly unprofessional manner by the office staff, and the first doctor we saw, Dr. Caroline Andrews-Johnson. The office staff hung up the phone on us, and both she and Dr. Andrews-Johnson accused us of "yelling" at them, to justify the behavior, which never happened. The next doctor, Dr. Danielle Fraser, was very straightforward and reliable, and we are grateful that she ended up being the primary provider for our pet.

If you value your pet, do not take them here.

The non-veterinary staff at Blue Pearl are very kind, but the vet who handled our case was insistent, defensive and bullying. Our cat had been bitten by another animal with amputation of parts of his toes on one foot. The vet did not touch, or even closely examine his wound, but pronounced it “catastrophic” from a distance of several feet and stated they would only perform wound cleaning and transfer him to orthopedic surgery for amputation of the entire foot in 48 hours, if he lived that long. Our wish was for him to have pain relief and be sedated for a thorough cleaning and examination to determination the extent of the injury. Because the vet was so hostile and impatient, making it clear he would not receive the care he needed, because the kitty had other health conditions, and because the nearest alternative emergency hospital was 250 miles away, we made the decision, under duress, to euthanize. After his death we were able to determine that the injury likely could have been treated with simple amputation of the toes at the first joint, if EMERGENCY surgery were performed. We wrongly assumed an emergency vet hospital would have that capability. We chose the wrong hospital. We were also charged a simply outrageous fee of $500 for a simple euthanasia, with no other care provided. The vet barely looked at our pet and did not lay hands on him or examine him. She treated him like an inanimate object. We chose not to complain or make any fuss in the moment, for the sake of our kitty's comfort and anxiety level. We made the decision to euthanize based on our anxiety for his pain level, and our wish not to subject him to an additional five hour drive in his condition (we had already transported him two hours). We would NEVER choose to use this clinic again under any circumstances. It was a very traumatic and regretful experience. The lack of emergency veterinary care in rural communities is becoming a true crisis, and even the worst of care, as demonstrated at Blue Pearl, is prohibitively expensive for most people.

DON'T GO HERE IF YOU DON'T HAVE OUT OF…

DON'T GO HERE IF YOU DON'T HAVE OUT OF POCKET MONEY, CREDIT CARD OR THINK YOU MIGHT QUESTION YOUR OWN CREDIT WORTHINESS!!!!! I wasn't even thinking of this when I brought my just turned 16 year old cat in who suddenly started spitting up after eating. I had a vet appointment 2 days later but panicked and brought him here. As soon as I came through the door and to the desk, they whisked him right to the back ,"He looks serious". I filled out the paperwork, and of course signing I would be responsible for payments. My guy was brought back to me where the "Doctor" told me ( after he was back there for maybe a half hour or so) that looks like he just had a little bug and was going to need some meds. I told them I had a vet visit in few days but just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything deathly or something like that. He said he should ok enough for the visit and have me orders on what I was allowed to feed him. Then came the money talk. The bill was $300. I told them I didn't have that much money ( low income) but would give all I had ($100) then be more than willing to make equal remaining monthly payments, but had to see if I qualified for their credit card. Of course didn't qualify for that either, then the start of the series of shocking events occured..I COULDN'T LEAVE UNLESS I PAID THE BILL!! I pleaded my case, the dr took my guy back with him again, but this time after "xrays" he found a "small growth" in his stomach area. WHAT?!?! You said before that...??? If he got surgery/ treatment it would be to much for me to financially care for and for my guy ( who just turned 16 and could outrun me throughout the house) to recover from. There would be a way for all financing to be paid though. I let them euthanize him & handle the cremation and everything, then all would be even, paid for. Only way I was going to be able to leave with my guy, his tags in my hands, soooo... I just resolved that this was how it was going to be. And when he gave us our "last time", now that I think back on it, when I went into the exam/good-bye room he was jumping up all over me, agitated, desperate, as if saying, " no mama, this isn't right, I'm ok, there is something else not right here" as he was actually crawling on my shoulders when I was trying to hold him, comfort him for last time, like he was trying to run away, get away. But being a legally bound and "I trust your opinion doctor" person, I let my guy take his last restlessly breaths in my arms. I still tear up thinking about this due to fact that this place is all about money over care. And the most crazy thing of this situ? I had some money come to me from the state less than 48 hours later! More than what would have covered their fee! This was almost 4 years ago and I still haven't recovered because my guy, was my ESA (stress induced epilepsy). Please be careful no matter where you go, especially here. Make sure you have enough money, a credit card, good credit rating, a friend on the side who may/will be able to help you out in a crunch...or be ready to say " good-bye" to your beloved family member. ps..just pulled the paperwork...he passed away the day of his 16th birthdate...thx for the memories, BluePearl vet Tacoma, Wa!

service was 09/29/2019...this is therapeutic closure

If I could give 0 stars for this…

If I could give 0 stars for this practice, I would. I had a horrendous experience at the Langhorne location today, 3/8/23. When I showed up for my cat’s 1 year follow up cardiology appointment at 11:45am, they didn’t have me on the schedule. I showed my confirmation email and, after quite some time with the front desk person in the back where I couldn’t see and hear anything, she returned with a smile on her face, as if she found this humorous, as she told me the practice switched systems and my appointment didn’t carry over to the new system. She said if I wanted my cat to be seen, I’d have to wait 45 minutes to 1 hour while the staff has lunch. I made it clear that I drove 45 minutes by turnpike, incurring gas and toll expenses, and this was THEIR error, not mine, so it’s their responsibility to see her BEFORE lunch, which was how her appointment was scheduled. No budge, so I said I’m finished and took my cat to the car, after which I went back and asked to speak with the Office Manager. She made me wait and, when she eventually came out, she took the position that THEY were trying to ACCOMMODATE ME, which implies they were doing ME a FAVOR by AGREEING to see Violet in 45 minutes to 1 hour! WOW!!!!! This was THEIR system error and they should have bent over backwards to not inconvenience me so significantly. No respect for my wasted time and expense, but I’m sure they would have had no problem accepting my near $1,000 payment for services had I stayed. HORRENDOUS! This practice, like so many others, is owned by a corporate monster that clearly couldn’t care less about service - they know they’ll make oodles and oodles of money, even when people like me vote with their feet because of the shortage of veterinary cardiologists. But I’d rather drive 2 or 3 hours with my cat to have a different experience than trust this practice again.

BEWARE this vet is a hot mess

BEWARE - We took extra care to schedule a critical follow up procedure for our dog that got surgery out of town. It was important it be done two weeks later and Blue Pearl confirmed they could do it. The day before the procedure an admin called to cancel saying “you should ask your local vet if they have time” BEWARE- Blue Pearl has a new corporate owner and is NOT the same vet it once was with a positive legacy reputation!

Greed

Had to bring my cat to have teeth removed. My normal veterinary dentist left the practice and Blue Pearl was recommended. I had to wait over a month for the appointment. As with everyone else, I was given a range of the possible cost of the bill. The bill was over $4,700.00 to pull the cats teeth. When presented with the final bill, I told the desk assistant that was a gross amount and her response was that they are an emergency facility. I reminded them that I had to wait over a month. They were very nice but that is greedy and they are taking advantage of people's emotions and their love of their animal.
