Far exceeded our expectations
From the moment we booked the communication was excellent. The boat was beautiful and the crew were exceptional. Captain Patric and Fabian were beyond friendly, helpful, fun and professional. Our family all felt it was the highlight of our trip. We reserved sea bobs which were really fun and easy to use, the lunch provided was delicious and drinks plentiful. We stayed in Anguilla so the water was calmer. If prone to motion sickness I suggest not crossing the waters to other islands. I highly recommend booking with this company and if possible I would request this duo as crew. They elevated our experience immensely. It was the perfect day!

Last minute cancellation
BE AWARE, the owner can cancel your reservation at any time!!
Booked a boat in the Memorial weekend a month before. I maintained regular communication with the owner, responding promptly to all of his questions. At no point did he indicate any intention to cancel. However, on the owner suddenly cancelled our booking 25 hours before the scheduled departure. I contacted customer service. The agent was trying to to help for a rebooking. However, he can only offer a 10% discount. All available options are at a much higher price. We ended up cancelling our boating plan. Very frustrated!

Hi Yi, thank you for this feedback and I want to extend my sincerest apologies for this last-minute cancellation. I understand the frustration that these situations can cause, and I'm so sorry this happened.
When a last-minute cancelation occurs, we always reach out to the renter to offer assistance with finding another boat. If we are able to find the renter another boat, we apply a 10% discount which waives our commission. Unfortunately, this is the only amount that we can waive because those are the only portion of the funds that go to us (the rest go directly to the owner).
In many cases, these cancellations happen due to unforeseen circumstances on the owner's end. I assure you that when an owner cancels a booking, the renter is promptly refunded in full. Additionally, any deposit holds that may have been placed on your card are released. I'd also like to inform you that Boatsetter holds owners accountable for cancellations through penalties, which can impact their profile and visibility on the platform.
While we don't currently have a feature for renters to leave reviews on canceled bookings, I want to assure you that our owner engagement team actively assesses these situations. Owners who exhibit a pattern of cancellations are internally evaluated, and if necessary, they may be removed from our platform.

Captain wanted us to provide boat insurance for free.
This experience started several weeks ago when we contacted captain Ken to captain Don’s boat for a trip on Lake Wylie on 5/16/25. The first excuse was Ken could not take more than 6 passengers even though the advertisement listed 12 passengers. We contacted Don and he was willing to take everyone. The Ken got back into the picture. On 5/14/25 we returned Ken’s call. Ken started making excuses why he could not compete the trip. Example: there are sand bars and logs floating in the lake and he might hit one. Ken wanted us to be his insurance company for free. If the boat is damaged we pay for the damages!!! I assume neither Ken or Don has insurance on this boat. No one informed us of this lack of insurance until 2 days before the trip. This is totally unacceptable!! If you don’t have insurance on your rental boat, don’t offer it for rent.
