Searched high and low for a decent insurance quote for my daughter, got it from boxymo - 3 years with them now and just paid €542 for 21 year old girl and 19 year old boy who is still on provisional - but of peace of mind for me knowing they can’t speed because of the black box too -

Fine until you have to renew — extra costs
The insurance is cheaper because there are hidden costs upon renewal.
This is the second year I have been with Boxymo. When renewing my insurance, I contacted Boxymo multiple times to send on my no claims bonus from the previous year — every time I got a call back, I was bounced around to another team. I uploaded letters on the platform clearly stating why I could not upload this document and eventually my insurance was cancelled because I didn’t upload this document. I was refunded just over half of the full insurance payment, so I’ve lost around €250 because of this, and now will need to take out a new policy. This started in December 2024 and I still haven’t received my documents (February 2025)/any update, so I can’t go to another insurer either.

Top marks to Boximo.
Highly recommend as i’ve used for my daughter for the past 3 years, managed to grr her insured in her own name as a learner, for the less than it would cost on our family car. Great value, super easy to deal with online.

Look I have an ongoing claim for around 2 years from December 2022. As you can imagine, the ice played the biggest role in the accident. However, the claim has yet to be settled.
Now my quote being raised isn't the issue. Boxymo has by far the most expensive rates and unfortunately, I'm stuck with them due to the ongoing claim, convenient isn't it.
I recently changed my address from Blanchardstown to Maynooth, just be cheaper right? No, 170e increase, the complete opposite to every other insurance company.
There is no 3rd party only insurance, and they have stopped rewarding good driving through additional milage on the policy.
Don't do it. I'm completely in the hole financially due to boxymo as for me, no car = no work.
Thanks boxymo, I'll either have to choose between being able to get to work or my rent. You truly prey on desperation.

I called to speak to an agent to discuss about my new quoted price but when I rang them I had to press about 12 different numbers just for them to say to leave my phone number saying they will contact me back witch they did not and hanging up the phone.

Cheap but not cheerful
Here's the good part:
The value
The web chat agents who are able to resolve things quickly.
The bad parts:
The website is rubbish, every time I do a renewal or change my vehicle/address, it brings up this new policy form and they have terrible options on the form. They then chase you for documents that they already have saying they're going to cancel your policy. So incredibly stupid.
I could build a better website and systems in a week. I can't even count how many times I have to go on to the web chat to resolve an issue that their really bad software can't handle. Luckily the web chat is easy to get onto and the people are helpful there.
It's a budget option for a reason, you save some money but you pay with increased anxiety from threatening emails about canceling your policy because you haven't uploaded a document from your previous policy (THAT WAS WITH THE SAME COMPANY AND THEY HAVE THE POLICY ON THEIR SYSTEM). Really terrible software
