well stocked
I am trying to buy less online as so much turns out to be poorly made tatt. This shop has been great for that as it has most of the things I have needed in my home rennovation, given it is reasonably small that is impressive. Have found a huge range of things. There is a decline in the highstreet of shops selling practical items (instead of coffee shops and luxury items we don't really need) this shop bucks the trend a bit and I am so glad to have one in my town.
York Boyes rude staff
York Boyes rude staff in the fabric department! I wanted to buy elastic and made the mistake of putting it on the counter while at I removed my finger from the hole in the middle of the cardboard holder. It was pushed at me and I was rudely told to put it in a basket as they needed the space! I was about to move but instead I took the elastic back to the shelf and left! I won’t be giving Boyes anymore of my money.
BOYES - utterly disappointing !
Just been to Boyes to exchange some control briefs - when compared to other ranges I have, I realised they would be too small. I had my receipt and was prepared to buy two more items. The assistant refused to do this because I did not have the hanger, even though there would be spare hangers from other items to be purchased. No goodwill exchange and to be honest, I’ve heard everything now, total utter disappointment and could not believe what I was hearing. Do not buy there if you want to avoid exchange problems, that’s my opinion.
Great new shop
Great shop. Went to the new store in Hartlepool. Lovely experience. They sell almost every thing.

Boyes [in Beverley] comes up trumps yet again!!
How often I go to Boyes [in Beverley] & find what I am looking for to solve a problem!! The shop stocks so many useful things which are just not to be found elsewhere & at extremely competitive prices. The staff at Beverley are lovely: they are cheerful & friendly & go out of their way to help - they take the time to show you where in the store you can find what you are looking for. I would describe Boyes of Beverley as "The Best of British". Today again they found for me exactly what I was looking for & helped me solve my particular problem. Many thanks to all the staff their for their outstanding customer service!

I bought some crisps and want to exchange with other sort of crisps. Unfortunately I lost receipt but have online card payment but the staff refused to exchange with very very bad verbal and bodily attitude. I asked for the store manager and she replied that she is the store manager which astonished me that how this lady could be a store manager because from her behaviour she was looking very very depressed and maniac drugy lost women. I don't have any problem with exchange but I was horrified by her behaviour. I think that this is a new store and a experienced and energetic staff and manager should be there instead of the manic and horrible behaviour lady. I believe that she was a racist by her beviour and body language. She was very loud and insulted behaviour. I will request the owner of this store to take action against this so called manager otherwise store will loose customers and will leave the shop to be closed soon. I will not recommend anyone to shop from this store as there are lot of good stores around there like asda ' Pound land etc. Very very 😥
Many thanks

Just the sort of shop that every high street needs wether your high street is dying like most are, or if yours is thrive-ing like most aren't. On my visit to the Arnold store in Notts I didnt particularly need a fishing rod, some wool or a lumberjack shirt - Im not in either version of Big Country - but I know where to go when i do. Adidas t-shirts under £20, Bench jeans £12 and nice sweeties. I miss Wilkos but this place is helping. Hurry up with your Nottm city store please. Essential.
Went to boyes in Louth
Went to boyes in Louth, Monday 19th January 2025 at approximately 10.30. Went upstairs to buy wool, when I went to pay there was no one at the till, so I rang the bell. The staff member stormed over looking outraged and told me off for using the bell. If I hadn’t wanted the wool I would have told her to stick it. She made me feel like a five year old. I thought staff were supposed to be polite. I’ve never met such a miserable woman.
Who is training the staff??
The staff at Boyes in Skipton need to learn how to work in retail!
Firstly, a smile is easy
Then
Engaging with people helps them spend money at the store
Offering advice to consumers also boosts business
'They're all out' is not a great response to a question about stock
Who is running the training at Boyes? I did 40 years in retail, this is almost as bad as it gets.

Boyes has been at Redcar since I was a toddler and offers a real alternative to the (super?) markets. More friendly staff and some interesting /alternative bargains to be had - plus haberdashery , bedding, curtains and craft hobby items.
I think alternatives like Boyes deserve our support
The staff are never appear stressed / harassed and the window displays are heart warming.
Thank you Boyes for always being at Redcar since I can remember
Excellent customer service
Many Thanks to Steph in the Northallerton store for providing excellent customer service during a busy time and for her helpful tips over the fit of a garment. Having bought the item, and tried it on at home, it fits well.
