I visited your store in Matlock, you had an extension pole in a bargain bin, it had no price on it and was slightly damaged but I was prepared to buy it, on approaching the till I was told I would have to wait for the manager to come back from a break, so I waited for 20 minutes and a elderly and rather stern lady appeared, she was decidedly unhelpful and told me a part was missing and they could only sell it if they found the missing part, I pointed out it was on display in the bargain bin, I would buy if if she gave me a price, she then told me she couldn't sell it and it would be binned if they couldn't find the missing part, basically she would rather throw the item away then sell it to me.
I thought the ladies attitude to customers was rather old fashioned and rigid.
I was going to buy some other items but decided to take my custom elsewhere.

Went to thenew Kettering branch to buy a pair of Sketchers. Had the ones I wanted and in the correct size or so I thought. Took the display shoe to the till area to get the matching shoe. Assistant said she needed to go to the warehouse to get the other shoe to match. Came back after 10 minutes or so saying they didn't have it as it was for display only and that she could order the shoes in for me. I couldn't believe it. If I wanted to order shoes I would have gone online. I prefer to see what I am buying. I tried to support a new local business only to be told they'd have to order the shoes in. It's ridiculous. Don't think they'll get my patronage again. Next stop Sketchers at Rushden Lakes. At least I know that I can get what I want without having to order them in.

Boyes Stores are a valuable asset as they have a very wide range of goods at excellent prices , You cannot fing a better store with all manner of goods from clothes to hard wear , craft items , in fact anything you want in there.

The new kings Lynn store is amazing. Really a welcome sight.
Staff were all very welcoming and professional.
Product range is great and prices seem great.
All in all very impressive.

Went to pay for my purchase the lady at the till started talking to a colleague,stood there for 10 min when she decided to serve me I did not get a please or thank you.if that is the best boyes can do for staff god help us .

Called into the Scarborough store and found items that are hard to find elsewhere, and at a great price too. When the likes of Woolworths and Wilkos have disappeared it’s good to see Boyes thriving .

My mother shops in your store and yet again shes came home and said how friendly, helpful and kind your team were. So huge thank you, it hasn't went unnoticed

Was absolutely appalled when the security handled me inappropriately after I removed all my clothing and helicoptered in aisle nine.

we live inEast London so look forward to this store had two holidays in Bridlington November 2023 and 2024 ,especially to go to this store always go to the Restaurant every day ,their food is amazing and their steak pie is as famous as they say and the gravy.their chips are great too ,all their meals are generous portions tea pot at the table its all so lovely ,their staff are amazing and bring your meals to the table . they all hand you your meals at the table with white cloth gloves spotless.even there stock is great quality.love to shop handbags purses and even my knitting wools ,their clothing and nightwear are my favourite ,such a relaxed atmosphere,if you like vintage appeal this store is original ,sea view from the restaurant and a wide view of Yorkshire too.museum to look at in restaurant [so much history about this store and clean loos , access for Disabled ,lift to all floors, cant wait to go back again next holiday break .really wish there was a store much closer to london , "Boyes directors "please give this some thought please Thank you , yvon g

I as a 13 year old went into Boyes to buy some lash glue and they denied my purchase as I was under 18. My father then came in with me and they then denied the purchase again even though my father was paying for the item. They were saying it couldn’t be purchased as they knew it was for me even tho my father is way over 18!

Wow... The quality of some of the products are shocking! Umbrella £13, the first time I used it, the slightest breeze & it was ruined! Do cheaply made. I'm shocked. You couldn't of designed it any worse. It built like a sail. No research has gone into this. Ist garbage!

Who doesn't love Boyes, just popped in for a couple of things. Asked a lady busy working on the shopfloor were something was. She took me over having a lovely little chat on the way. When I got to the till. Same lady saved me (Emma) again, such a nice and friendly person.

Excellent service and products.
The Louth store has a great team of people running it.
Helpful, knowledgeable, polite.
Can't find it but don't have time to browse?
Ask a member of staff and they will take you to it if they stock it.
Oh, and they often actually greet you instead of treating you like a nuisance.

Visited the Arnold, Nottingham Store today. Intention to purchase one item, the aisles are memory joggers, I purchased an overflowing basket full!
I had to purchase two Boyes long life reuseable shopping bags.
The assistant packed the two bags for me, evenly distributing the weight for me to carry.
Very much appreciated by me.

I asked her if she had visited the original store in Scarborough, I told her I fully recommended a visit. A beautiful store. My husband and I visited some years ago when on holiday in North Yorkshire.

Racist experience at south shields branch.

Last time im going in there, 10 minutes wait at the till , only one till in operation at lunchtime, plenty off staff circulating and doin nothing but avoiding actual work.

Do not buy Clothing or Footware also be cautious on the stores goods, I believe this store sells SECONDS or items that do not make full retail grade but do not state this on their goods.
Example in the last year:-
Bench track suit the pockets wrong way round ( face your back side )
One coat the sleave lining far too long ......... Returned
Pair of shoes the soles thin thin thin....... could not
return over the period.
Underpants with ladders on two out 3 pairs. ..... Returned.
Also over the years same old same old, why don't i learn. well that's it NO MORE from Boyes.
Don't get me wrong i don't mind seconds or clothing not deamed full retail quality, but surely it is unlawfull to sell these products without warnings or advisory information for customers. Boyes you are very close or over this threshold.

Very reasonable prices,always have just what i need,and catering for those who still want items theyve always bought even if they arent as in demand as they once were.
Great all-round store and renowned for being reliable.
It did often puzzle me why although having stores in yarm,billingham,stockton,guisborough etc it took them so many years to get a store sorted for middlesbrough,however this was never an issue for me,just an observation.
This is one store that has always done me proud and had everything i need. Also they dont put essential stuff away for xmas like wilko used to

Been a Boyes customer for years but recently bought some trainers Adidas ones as a gift when I received them they were not boxed on request of a box they said they destroy the boxes as they take up to much room which quite upset me as it's not a cheap pair of trainers and now my gift looks cheap and nasty I will never buy any shoes from here again .. and will be
exceptionally careful on everything else I get ... i should nt have to pay £10 for a box of the internet when they get delivered to the shop from Adidas in them not good sales practice in my book
