Started the journey of selling my flat with Bridgfords well, great listing, quickly found a buyer, then Bridgfords conveyancing service took over and was incompetent at every turn. 6 months on from ac... See more

Very good
Daniel from the Manchester branch was made the process very quick and easy, a faultless process.
Unhelpful, unfair and unethical
Unhelpful, unfair and unethical. Genuinely the worst letting experience and service I have ever received. I would avoid at all cost going forward. Numerous serve issues when starting my tenancy, meant I couldn't move into the property. This was meet by no acknowledgment from there side and no help to fix it.
Avoid This Rubbish Terrible company
Avoid This Rubbish Terrible company
I was trying to apply mortgage through this TRRRIBLE company, the lady called Katy Gregg mortgage advisor ruined everything, messed up all things . The property I was going to buy didn't work out. They have waste my time and my money which I spend on searches. She was pushing me to buy a property with Bridgford. This is the reason she messed up every thing and I lost the offer was accepted on property. This behaviour is unprofessional and unethical, Dishonesty/ lack of transparency and totally unprofessionalism. Absolute disgusting customer service. Bridgfords Stockport Absolute RUBBISH, They don't deserve even a one star. waste of time, waste of money, DISGUSTING
They will try and squeeze as much money out of you as they can
Only 2 issues were ever followed up on out of the roughly 20 issues we reported and that was the broken window and the broken front door. To get the dishwasher replaced it took over 3 months of calling twice a week. Don't be surprised if the person in charge of your tendency at Bridgfords is only leave every time you call.
When we complained bout how filthy the apartment was when we moved in we were told by the manager of the Manchester office "well its not going to get a £500 clean". It didn't look like they spent £50 to cleaners. When we spoke to the land lord on it they said Bridgfords took hundreds off the previous tenants to have it cleaned. where that money went I'm sure was to bridgfords profit margains.
On moving out we left the place exceptionally more clean than how we got it but still got a very long detailed report of how dirty it was and complained about the issues we reported when we moved in but they never fixed. Bridgfords said this about our deposit on checkout "I would advise that the landlord has decided to proceed with the works themselves, and therefore the offer of £100 to be deducted is a lot less than if we had arranged for the works to be organised through one of our contractors, which was previously advised by myself as a result of the checkout report."
They admittedly said they would have charged us a lot more if the landlord did not intervene.
when I provided proof of the damage they wanted to charge us for they said I can appeal but it can take 3 months, which I'm sure they know most people need there old deposit to pay for a new one. we did not appeal because of this
I viewed the apartment, it was a nice apartment but dirty we were promised it would be cleaned. On move in day, the apartment looked like it got a quick wipe of a mope and the garbage was taken out. Apart from that it was filthy. Dirt, cobwebs and cigaret puds on the balcony. cupboards were stained. Carpet was was torn around the edges. toilet seat was dirty and heavily stained with fake tan. paint splattered on worktops. dishwasher broken, window broken, wouldn't close. all the furniture in the bedrooms were half broken, drawers fallen down on top of each other the base of some drawers split. couch high stools and tiles were all filthy. oven not properly cleaned thick grease around the seal. carpet stained, curtain very stained.
Throughout out tendency we had the following issues, mould growing in bathroom, worktop seal lifting, carpet getting progressively more frayed on the edge where it was coming away fro the seal.
Lack of communication, unethical and unprofessional Practices
I had a very disappointing experience with [Agency Name]. I initially booked a viewing for a flat that was on sale, only to find out the appointment was cancelled because the flat was sold, and they forgot to inform me.
Giving them another chance, I booked a viewing for another property. However, they insisted that I use their mortgage advisor even though I already had one and an Agreement in Principle. When I refused to change my mortgage advisor, they immediately cancelled my viewing appointment. This kind of behaviour is unprofessional and unethical. I would not recommend this agency to anyone.
I was looking for a one bed flat and…
I was looking for a one bed flat and somehow I was transferred to Dan Mooney, He took two days to get the information about tenants and then email addresses and after he said the property has been rented out. Whenever you try to call him, he doesn’t pick up and anyone who picks up, they don’t want to transfer the call to him, I am from London and now I know why Manchester has a bad reputation, and no work ethics. Avoid this estate agent, and Dan Mooney,
AVOID this agent
AVOID this agent! We only went with Bridgfords Stockport, after they missold a open house drive to sell our home, however they missed us out of the drive completely. They then refused to let us leave, even though we were well within the cooling off period. They did not include any floorplan at launch, we complained and they eventually uploaded a floorplan for another home, this floorplan had rooms, doors, open plan areas, windows and alcoves that did not exist, while missing doors windows and a porch. They also measured wrong, with a 13 foot room being marketed as a 20 foot room. Even after knowing it was the wrong floor plan, and they were misleading potential buyers, they refused to remove it until we had completed OUR OWN REPLACEMENT!! They promised to keep in touch and provide feedback. They have not once called us, and have failed to provide feedback or a single viewer. We provided the photos, the floorplan, the measurements, had to change the description and even had to instruct them to use tags on Rightmove, they have done absolutely nothing and yet charge over £1000 more than other large agents. We have asked them to remove our home from the market, or at least to remove our intellectual property - the floorplan and the photos we took, however they are still listing our home for sale, using our photos and floorplan even though we do not wish to sell. We now face having to drag this through the courts, and involving the ombudsman.
Negative experience unfortunately.
Negative experience unfortunately.
While they sold my house and met their contractual obligations, the communication and service from Pauline was poor.
Close to completion, I spoke to the manager Nicola, evidenced the issues I faced and I offered what I believed to be a fair 80%. Unfortunately she didn’t agree, which meant it was escalated to the ombudsman.
The ombudsman agreed to my 80% “As a gesture of goodwill In recognition of the communication issues faced and visits to my property without prior consent”.
Very disappointed with the service but was more disappointed that the Macclesfield branch would accept no responsibility and see things through my eyes when I tried, amicably, to reason with Nicola and provided evidence. People make mistakes and things happen in business, but she was having none of it and for me it was the principle of the matter.
Based on other Macclesfield position reviews this may well have been a one off, I’ve purchased before with Pauline and she was great then.
One advice I would give is don’t be afraid to speak up to them - even if they don’t reply to you - it’s your sale, time and money and you have a right to receive good communication. I regret not escalating things earlier in the process.
Terrible service from start to finish
Terrible service from start to finish.
Ross didn’t turn up to an arranged viewing and was late for another one. You have to deal with Crewe for a house in Alsager even though they have an office in Alsager.
I don’t believe negotiations happened they just advised I had to pay full asking price. He totally went back on what was agreed in terms of items agreed as part of the sale.. making me out to be making it up!
They were too busy trying to get me to see their mortgage adviser… they didn’t get on with progressing my offer.
The whole thing was a shambles and totally destroyed my relationship with the seller. I won’t ever buy a house Bridgfords are selling again!
Bridgfords Stockport
Bridgfords Stockport, dealt with Katherine Hancock who was unbelievably unhelpful.
First of all told me i couldnt cancel as i was in a 12 month contract which was untrue it was a 6 month contract.
Said i had to give 2 months notice as i could only give a month from my billing date, which was wrong again.
Kept advising i needed to speak to my landlord for issues they could deal with.
Finally i left my flat in better condition than when i entered. Landlord wont return deposit, when asking Bridgford to help they've advises its nothing to do with them.
Avoid
Unfortunately, i read these reviews quite late and I am in agreement with all the negative opinions about Bridgfords Withington. We tried to buy a flat, but when we told them that we have our own mortgage advisor, the communication stopped. When we tried to get updates, they would try to discourage us to continue. They went on making an offer for our maximum budget, despite only having 1 additional buyer who offered 25k less than us. Dishonesty/ lack of transparency and totally unprofessionalism, especially Richard/ Hammad. I am happy I did not use their services, and I now select properties which are not in their portfolio. Quite sure the seller has received a lower offer as well, which is a shame as the flat was superb. Avoid!
Absolute disgusting customer service.
Absolute disgusting customer service.
The manager at Denton Manchester is rude, arrogant unprofessional.
Third-party Edward Mellor has done more for us than Bridgford Denton
They can't be bothered to chase things up and allow timescales to be non-existent
5 months and still no completion date then when challenged to pull their finger out they ignore you and refuse to take your call.
They are incompetent, unreliable inconsistent if you don't want a stressful experience
Then Don't use this company
Illegal
They will call you in and tell you to speak to their mortgage advisor who then tells you that he can get you the property if you sign up with them for £660+ non refundable, he will use their own solicitors too. My wife and I asked what about the other bidders and he said, the vendor won’t see those bids don’t worry. This is completely illegal and we walked away, he then said you are willing to walk away from this deal and get outbid. I said yes I would rather lose out on 20k than give you one penny. It’s kickbacks galore in that place and we know full well we will now not get that property. I would love to speak to the person selling the house but they have moved abroad and left these clowns in charge.
Highly recommend
Beverly/Nicola and team at the Burnley Branch have been utterly amazing dealing with my property purchase. Super quick responses to emails, calls. Friendly service. I couldn't of asked for a better service. Highly recommended. They are a credit to this company.
Professional and Courteous
Professional, speedy and courteous service from start to finish.
All three members of staff I had contact with were excellent.
A smooth sale process. Thank you.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service - they do not get back to you. They also cannot market houses - we have had no viewings since being on the market with them for 4 months.
Worst company I have ever dealt with in…
Worst company I have ever dealt with in my life!!
We moved in roughly 5 years ago to a house that was in need of a lot of tlc. The first year was fine and we renewed for another 12 months. Then came the problem with our bathroom floor. It had rotted and crumbled away leaving a huge hole in the floor. Numerous reports were made and it took almost 3 years for them to send out someone to do a quote. Again, we heard nothing after this. After more pushing we got another quote and then once again, nothing.
In 2022 we got an email with “end of tenancy checkout” which we had no idea about. I rang them to ask what was going on and they said “oh yeah the landlord wants his house back you’ll get a section 21 in the post”. Nothing came and I said what is going on and they replied saying “sorry it was sent in error you can stay”. What the ****”
Fast forward another year and we get a section 21. It comes to us needing to leave and a potential landlady asks for a reference and she says sorry I can’t do it they’ve given a poor reference. Obviously I asked them what they had said and they accused us of not paying rent!!! We have always paid and had agreements in writing. They said our rent comes through in two separate transactions on their system even though it’s sent in full on payment and I have sent them bank statements to show this, they won’t budge. So now they are refusing to give us a reference and we are becoming homeless in 9 days time as no landlords will accept us due to their false information!
I am absolutely disgusted with how they have treated us. We have children and they’re happy for us to be without a home due to lies! They are rude and do not communicate. This is the York branch. Vicki especially is the worst of the lot!
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Has it gone bust
Has it gone bust ? Honestly worst experience no responses, website is down now ?
Where does this leave us ?
Any advice ?
Bridgfords York
Bridgfords York - lettings
Avoid at all costs
They ignore complaints, lose keys, bad mouth landlords, take double payments of commission. Took rent from tenants account after they’d left!!!
I have written to their ceo Mark Alcott who like the branch ignore my complaints!
The lack of response shows that they truly do not care! All the way up to the top zero customer service.
If I could leave a zero star review I would!
Georgia brilliant
I had best service , and kept up to date with the process. From Georgia , and communication was seamless. Always let me know what was needed every step . Excellent work . !! Thanks
Regards
Dean
