This is a sham of a company and I find it unbelievable that any reputable insurance company can use them.
It wouldn’t shock if it transpired that this unethical shower of incompetent and non insurance qualified persons that I had to deal with were being paid a bonus for repudiated claims rather than working in an objective an equitable manner.

BVS surveyor sent by Saga to review the damage done by a flash flood was unfriendly, intimidating wasn’t interested in anything I had to say. He had to admit that hailstones put holes in my conservatory roof but said all the rest was down to the age of the property. Mr Ken Turton and BVS have the insurance companies interests as top priority. I feel let down by Saga

Just had these jokers out for rain damage to a exterior roof, very disrespectful from as soon as I opened the door, refused at first to even go on roof and look, had to nearly force him up there then he decides it’s wear and tear damage even though this has just started happening, what a complete joke, what a way for Nationwide to basically crap in my mouth and tell me to fo you ain’t having a claim
What a stitch up!
What a stitch up! - "Fully Qualified Surveyor" came to look at our ceiling with a hole in it and of course could not find any storm damage hence merrily declined the claim - I actually feel the blame is more with Admiral my Insurance Company who instead of sending a roofing professional to actually assess the damage in the roof/ceiling like they used to do in the old days, they send someone who has a camera and is not prepared to look at the issue properly only to then suggest for us to get a roofing company to look properly into the damage, take photographs and send to them - you could not make it up!
Excellent Service
BVS was able to fit me in promptly.
My surveyor Richard was professional, friendly and empathetic. He arrived dot at the agreed time. Completed the survey within the time suggested and clearly explained next steps.
The process was much smoother than what I had expected.
BVS dishonest and untrustworthy. AVOID!!!!!
BVS are the most deceitful lying unscrupulous people I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Lied from start to finish to pass the blame to a contractor from 2 years ago following a water leak. Shame on AXA insurance for using such a dishonest company to avoid paying out on claims
Avoid BVS at all costs or it could cost you !
From start to finish I was told by the "case manager" and "Building Technician" that my escape of water wasn't that bad. This was without anything being ripped out inspected. nearly 6 months have passed and I'm still battling with BVS and there "Industry Qualified Building Technicians" about what work needs to be done, the funny thing is BVS question all the costs for work to be done and base everything of a cost matrix which doesn't reflect actual costs of labour or materials. they low ball you at every opportunity and are oblivious to industry standards and regulations.
it takes months for anything to be reviewed by BVS they never meet a single SLA which I was informed should be call back within 4 hours if case manager is unavailable as well reviewing documents and quotations within 5 working days.
The company overall lacks customer focus or customer relations skills, the surveyors who attend the properties will not record all damages and will try and low ball you with a settlement figure on the day.
if your insurance appoints BVS as the company to handle your claim i would recommend you asking them to appoint someone else.
Absolute Rubbish
I experienced a leaking roof from severe weather conditions 2years ago. Rang Nationwide Insurance who appointed this company. A specialist arrived. Never looked in the attic and proceeded to advise that roof was leaking as it was covered with moss which was raising the tiles and allowing water in. On this companys advise, I had my roof cleaned and treated with herbicide within three weeks of their specialist advice. This recent bout of bad weather caused the roof to leak in exactly the same place as before. The same specialist called, only this time his advice was, black marks on the plasterboard=condensation. It was the marks made by wet joists in the celing. The specialist then proceeded to advise, not enough insulation in the attic-this time he did take a loom in the attic only to see insulation was a foot thick. Specialist then went outside and took photos with camera on a stick-came back inside and advised roofing felt needed replacing as home was 50years old. I asked for a second opinion. Nationwide advised only deal with these jokers. I'd have to get my own surveyor. 2hrs later BV solutions rang to advise its one cracked tile causing the issue. Roofer has completed a review today. One cracked tile. Roofing felt in good condition but as water has been leaking into the loft space, insulation and joists wet through and need drying out. Dehumidifier needs to go in the attic for a couple of weeks. He was really shocked that a roofing specialist had advised washing the moss away after seeing water marks. Obvious there is a leak. Sorry Nationwide but if this is the best you have, will not be renewing policy with you ever.
At my wits end now
Initial surveyor - lied - said the damage was next to nothing, that I'd been very lucky, and nothing too serious. When the restoration company came in he said every moisture reading in the room was 99 - the entire downstairs of my house was saturated and it took 6 weeks of multiple industrial dehumidifiers to get it dry.
Case managers - unhelpful - they can't give you an SLA for a response, a timeline of how long the claim will take, or how long it takes for a review or referral to be completed.
The person who answers the phone - friendly, apologetic, but you can tell their hands are tied and they're just fire fighting at this point.
Case reviewers (probably have another title but never actually managed to get through to them) either overloaded with work or just completely useless - sent some photos as evidence over 18 days ago, and they still haven't been reviewed.
I'm sat in a dusty, shell of a house with no walls or ceilings, cables hanging down, and cracked floor boards for over 4 months now and there's no sign of it being sorted. Chasing daily and being told to wait.
Helpful, thank you.
Your representative was very polite and helpful, even giving us advice as to how best to repair the problem.
BVS, a most unprofessional Company, not fit for purpose
Having been involved in the construction and Facility Management industry for over 45 years in various senior professional positions I have found my experience with BVS to be one of the most unprofessional. Their agent (I will not call him a Surveyor) was abrasive, blatantly inexperienced and clearly briefed to find any possible reason, whether relevant or not, to decline our claim relating to ingress of flood water. Reading other reviews confirm my thoughts and I have informed my insurers, Saga that I do not recognise BVS as a company fit for purpose, I reject their findings and will not under any circumstances allow them in my property again. On the other hand my experience with Polygon, a company that Saga also engage with, to be thorough and professional.
Great care and attention

Very helpful and explained the details clearly. It helped making my insurance claim straightforward.
Agree with all bad reviews! Avoid at all costs!!!
Agree with all bad reviews. Had a leak from the roof which caused a damage to my ceiling and carpet. The leak and the damage has been reported to AXA insurance who sent BVS for the survey. The surveyor took pictures inside and outside and never bothered to go to the roof to inspect properly and asked to send pictures from the roofing company who tried to trace where the leak is coming from. I was told it was not caused by a storm and they can’t cover the roof repair and also my ceiling can’t be covered as the leak was there for a long period of time. I asked them why is it possible as your surveyor checked if he ceiling and it’s construction is wet and the meter showed him everything is dry so that confirms the leak happened when I reported it, as if otherwise everything would be soaking wet and rotten. What’s the point of allowing the water leak to be there for months and only reporting recently as they suggest? I have a full accidental insurance for a purpose like this and don’t wait until the water breaks through to cause more damage. They defo try to reject every single claim. Avoid at all cost. I still wait for them to reply to my arguments but based on the opinions here I already know the outcome. Will definitely take them to ombudsman if claim is declined and inform AXA about their actions. Shocking cowboys!
Wish I could give 0
Wish I could give 0. Some person was sent to spec the job of repairing a leaking pipe in our kitchen which the insurance had okayed. He said we weren't covered and we had snowballs chance of getting it fixed as there was no damage- I suppose electrical short outs, wet walls and 2 inches of foul water under the floor don't count as damage where he comes from.. Said we'd be lucky and was very sharp in his attitude. A call to the insurers and it transpires the company have decided that aren't dealing with insurance leak tracing and repair any more but hadn't informed them. Thank God Saga and Polygon are on the case and a different firm are coming to fix the issue. Wouldn't let this lot past the gate.
This company was recently sent out by…
This company was recently sent out by my uncle’s insurance company, he is an 90 yr old, my husband met with the assessor following storm damage to his flat roof, He quickly dismissed the claim saying it was due to wear and tear as the felt on the roof was possibly 8 to 10 yrs old, his attitude was appalling, we did not receive anything in writing to confirm their findings until I contacted them after 3 weeks. In my opinion the damage would not have occurred if not for the storm and he supposedly was covered for storm damage. I guess these insurance company’s are happy to take a 90yr olds insurance money but does not take responsibility of informing people about an ageing roof . I don’t know how these people sleep in their beds, it appears to me their priority is to find a fault and reject claims, they obviously get paid well from the insurance companies to reduce paying out. However I certainly won’t be taking out any further house cover with the said insurance company and would certainly not be recommending them to anyone. I really feel like contacting a media watch dog about this company.
Great service
Great service, quick response. Good feedback, everything was done quickly with good communication.
Avoid if possible
We noticed damp on the ceiling in our front bedroom and had a local reputable builder come out to find out what was causing it. He told us that the membrane underneath our roof tiles had been damaged and had holes in, obviously letting water in which has been running down behind our exterior wall and causing damp/mould. He explained that this could be caused by high winds getting under the roof tiles as our property is exposed to the elements. So we called our insurance company and they sent BVS to survey the property.
When the guy arrived he come in a car with a large selfie stick like device and no ladders or other tools in sight. He wanted to look in the loft, I explained our loft was boarded out and he wouldn't be able to see the membrane but still he went up and confirmed what I had already told him. He then wanted to check the damp/mould situation in the bedroom. He went outside, using his selfie stick to take photos of the roof. He informed me that the damp/mould is being caused by a vent coming into the bedroom. I explained I had a builder out to assess and showed him photos of the membrane which he completely dismissed and said that it was definitely the vent and also said that the damage that the other builder found was not caused by wind damage so my insurance would not pay out regardless, even though he didn't ask for a copy of the photos to send to my insurance company. I also explained that we never experienced any issues with the vent in all the time that we have lived here which he also dismissed.
I honestly feel that I was fobbed off massively and now we have to find another way of pulling out money to fix the issue that can potentially cause irreparable damage to our property. Try and avoid if you can.
Treated like a criminal
I have been dealing with this company since last November their service is appalling. The fantastic builder who came out at a minutes notice when my leak was found quoted exactly as they asked (for every little item). They say my builder is too expensive, he says the difference is his profit. Is he supposed to work for nothing? I was told to get another quote I found this difficult but one that agreed to quote was more expensive. BVS is still not happy and has now suggested they can get there own people in. I ASKED if this was possible in November but was told no. My husband is 75 and suffering from a recurrence of bowel cancer , he has 2 stomas and has not been able to shower since November. Our wooden floored hallway was ripped up and we have been cold all winter because the temporary flooring does not reach the walls. We have a bed in the living room and furniture from the stripped bedroom where ever we can find a space. So I think I understand now I have to accept substandard work from people I don't know rather than use a reputable builder so that BVS can make a profit out of me and have kept me waiting 7 months for the privilege. I presume they work on treating older people like this because they know the stress caused will make you agree to anything. If you have a choice don't go near this Company.
