No help whatsoever. There's no need for me to even explain my review, there are so many others who have already said the same thing I'm going through with my so-called warranty. Very sad.

COMPLETE RIPOFF

COMPLETE RIPOFF! Warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on. They will give you the run around. I bought a car and the motor blew up after 90 miles. Sent them pictures of the broken pistons. Waited weeks to get back and finally said they will not pay for anything. HOW DOES A BROKEN PISTON NOT QUALIFY AS MECHANICAL FAILURE!!?? This place is nothing but a scam!

First of all these people are SHYSTERS, my engine was bad, took it to dealership , they tore engine down and informed the Shysters(Cars) what was going on, of course they refused to honor the warranty, nit picking everything to not honor their warranty, this company needs shut down, bunch a crooks, plus they wouldn’t even refund my $200 I paid for the 6 month so called warranty. SHYSTERS!!!!!

They failed to honor their warranty

They failed to honor their warranty. The warranty was sold through a car dealer at time of purchase. The transmission failed within two months ... a $6,000 repair. They declared that the warranty did not cover the vehicle (a normal 2013 Yukon XL) because of a lift kit. But, the vehicle does not have a lift kit ... just slightly larger after market tires. Nothing in the warranty paperwork advised that the vehicle would be excluded, or mentioned anything about tire size. They refused to pay for the repair. They said they would refund the warranty cost rather than pay for the repair. That does not solve the problem. I still have to buy a warranty from another warranty company to pay for future potential issues, in addition to pay for the repair. Importantly, to repeat, nothing at the time of reviewing and entering the warranty contract provided for the limitation they used as a reason to say the warranty would not apply (tire size). And, the other reason they used (lift kit) was not accurate. They looked at photos from the repair shop and concluded it has a lift kit when it does not.

Dear Michael,

I am very sorry to hear of the struggles with this repair, I would be interested to look into it however I need to get some information from you. We have a separate contract for lifted vehicles or oversized tires as there are some guidelines we need to follow in reference to lifted/oversized tires which for us are one and the same. If you have a minute please give me a call, if I miss you let me know the first and last name of the contract holder and the last 6 of the VIN. Thank you for sharing your struggles, ni promises I can help but I would like to try and see if there is anything I can do. - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible. My car transmission went bad 3 months after buying and I contacted them and they were supposed to buy a used transmission. It took a month and a half to find a transmission and agreement on mechanic before even attempting to fix my vehicle. They also charged out of pocket expenses. I had the best plan and still payed hundreds out of pocket and did not receive any rental vehicle.

Dear Ellis,

I have reviewed your claim and would like to clarify a few things, first the contract you have is a month to month contract that some of our dealers give to their customers, we paid over $2k for the transmission in your vehicle, this is not our best contract however looking at the numbers above I would say it is a winner of a contract in my book. The shipping of the Transmission took three days and we have a recorded call from the shop stating he received it, so why it took another 30 days to install I would say is on them. All this being said it appears we delivered what we said we would yet we receive a one-star review which at the end of the day we are ok with because doing what we say is the most important piece of the puzzle. If your contract is eligible for rental benefits it would state on the contract also would state you needed to submit receipts to the shop to send with the final bill. If you have any additional questions please feel free to call me. - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281

No end in sight! Why am I paying?

We are currently in the midst of a claim, and have been for a month and a half now! We are paying monthly for the ultimate/unlimited protection plan, which is said to cover basically everything, with the exception of general maintenance issues. The transmission of my 9 year old Mazda went out on Wednesday, October 28th, at which point I had to have it towed to the Mazda dealership. Mazda confirmed that the transmission had died and that it would need to be replaced. CARS claimed that the must know where the point of failure was in order to "possibly" approve the claim, which would involve a complete transmission tear down, which I HAVE TO PAY FOR! Mazda stated that they do not do tear downs and that I would need to take my car to a transmission specialty shop. I then had my car towed (yet again) to the transmission shop. The owner was able to diagnose the issue without tearing it down and informed the CARS protection plan that he was absolutely certain that this was the issue. Two adjusters have since been out to look at the issue, agreed with him that this was the issue, left to make their report, and claimed -after the fact- that "further tear down is needed for diagnosis". If I am forced to have the transmission completely torn down, it will take approximately 10-12 hours of labor, which would cost anywhere from $1,500- $2,000 (The cost of a new transmission!). Did I mention that I have been without a car the entire time that all of this has taken place, and I am still being forced to pay for this "unlimited protection plan" while they continue to lie and give me and the owner of this shop the run around?!?

I purchased this extended warrant for a used car I bought and they hardly paid anything. Not only that the car I bought was a lemon and ended up buying another vehicle from a reputable dealer. Please read the contract before you sign it. I only had this car for 5 months and I was not able to any refund for a 2 year contract.

Dear Ms. Lowry,

Thank you for the review, when you have a moment please call me as I would like to discuss your claim with you. I see the dealer provided a basic powertrain warranty on your vehicle when you purchased it and we recently approved & paid for the U Joints to be repaired on your vehicle. I would like to hear and discuss your suggestions on what we could have changed to have satisfied you with your claim. 888-335-6838 ext. 1281 - John

Less than 1 star if I could

Less than 1 star if I could
Purchased a car on Sunday 9/20 an hour away from home with insurance from this company provided by the dealer. Almost home, the engine lights came on. We went to an Auto Zone type store to get the lights read to determine if this car can be driven. It came back possible transmission issues. Contacted the dealer the following day. He said we were covered, not to worry, the insurance company would take care of. We thought the insurance company would be contacting us. After several days, we did not hear anything so we took our other car and drove to the dealership. We mis-understood and was told we needed to take the car to a mechanic and they would contact the insurance company. Again, told not to worry. We decided to call the insurance company first, as we found out you could only get one claim. I called on 9/30. They received the contact. I asked if they could provide a list of mechanics in our area that worked with them hoping to reduce the chance of any issues. I was told they did not, but to take the car to a mechanic who would. If they charged more per hour, we would pay the difference. We took the car to Subaru after the contract was received. They reviewed and looked over the car and said it was the transmission (we were hoping it was a batter issue based on the info we was reading on the codes). The insurance company said they would not honor the claim. I called the company and was told they would not cover the claim due to the lights coming on the 20th (before they received the contract). I explained we were not mechanics, went to the dealer, called them on the 30th and was told to get it diagnosed - costing me more money! The person I initially talked to basically started calling me a liar. I asked to speak to a manager, who basically listened, but said they would not honor the claim due to the lights coming on (not diagnosed). I would NEVER recommend them and would actually RUN away if they were the company being provided as insurance for any other purchase. The company does not provide service, unfriendly and hard to work with!

Bad customer service and bad policy

I bought a policy to cover my company van. In the middle of the night, (midnight) I was on the way back from a job and the car wouldn’t start and I had to have it towed to a shop near my house.

The starter motor was shot. I needed the van for work so I paid for it. I then call this Policy Protection Plus to see if my repair was covered.

The representative said it was BUT SINCE I PAID FOR IT BEFORE CALLING THEM THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT.

SHE WAS NOT VERY HELPFUL OR UNDERSTANDING AND JUST STATED THAT ITS COVERED IN YOUR CONTRACT AND THAT THEY ARE A PLUS RATED IN THE BBB.

The person who sold me the coverage did not go over this detail with me. He just said this is for coverage if you have repairs.

This seems like a flaw in the service plan and should be handlable. AS ITS THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THE POLICY!!

DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT!

Dear Mr. Spliethof,

I am sorry to see that you have had a less than satisfying experience dealing with us thus far, if you would be willing to give me a call I would like to discuss this with you and look into the claim and see if there is anything I can do. I can't promise anything except that it will be a pleasant conversation and I can at least express my apologies for our customer service personnel being unhelpful and not understanding what a difficult situation you were in with needing your work van. - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281

It all ended well

It all ended well, but started rocky. Initially said multiple items would not be covered even though they were directly related to the repair. After a while a return call was made by a different associate and rectified the claim. I was pleased with the follow-up.
Thank you.

Unbelievable!!! Thank you john

I'm happy with John at cars protection plus! John was an man of his word. John reached out to me by email yesterday. One day later he returned the phone call with some good news about my warranty I purchased on my 2016 Ford expedition. The first warranty I purchased was only for 75.00 labor coverage per hour. I explained my situation to John. He stepped in and upgraded my labor rate to 160.00 an hour. Thank you again John for the great customer service you extended to me. We need more companies like yours John. You were truly a blessing to me.

Dear Mr. Harris,

We are sorry that you had this experience and that you felt that the labor rate was insufficient. Our contract that you purchased has a base labor rate of $75 per hour which works with the majority of our dealer partners shops. This contract also has a labor rate option which would pay market labor rate up to $160 per hour. I would like to speak with you and understand whether this option was presented to you so we can ensure that we are training properly when visiting our dealer partners. If you can call me at your convenience of course I would like to discuss this with you. - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281

Needed some warranty work done on my Suburu Outback. Took it to a local dealer for the work to be completed. I called Cars Protection Plus ahead of time to find out about the procedure to ensure the the work would be covered. The call was answered quickly and by an AMERICAN! So rare these days...I communicated the procedure to the dealarship, letting them know they would just need to call to get approval over the phone and they would authorize it quickly, per customer service. The woman at the dealership rolled her eyes and said, "warranty companies always say that, but it usually takes a while." I recieved a phone call within 2 hours saying that the repairs were approved and they were starting on the repairs. The associate at the dealership said she was VERY impressed and Cars Protection Plus was the easiest warranty company she had ever worked with!

Gratis

Apparently the 1st. time I needed to use this service, some issues were taken care of gratis which normally wouldn't have been covered under my specific service plan; which was greatly appreciated don't get me wrong. But the 2nd time I had to use this service, similar work covered previously was staunchly denied this time and I felt that was not proper

Mr. Halminiak,

Thank you for the detailed feedback and review of CARS. I would like to speak with you in regards to the claims you are referring to and see if I can clarify or better understand the situation. You mentioned gratis which while I understand the word it is not something we do or use as a service contract company. Secondly I see no denial of service on our records we have two paid claims. If you would at your earliest convenience please call me so I can better understand the situation from your perspective. Thank you again - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281

Transmission warranty is a joke

Drive train warranty was included on my vehicle for 90 days. I needed to replace my transmission which I still had to pay over $1500 out of pocket. Not much of a warranty. Maybe other warranties companies are similar but I think it’s a rip off either way.

Poor CSR response and unwillingness to work with warranty related parts

After speaking with a Rep from CARS about a warranty related part that was covered, I was told that my diagnosis was not covered. After speaking to them that it was a misunderstanding that I had to "ASK" for a diagnosis to be covered before it was done, I had to plead my case to have the diagnosis covered, which it was eventually taken care of after a lengthy plea. I was also told that CARS has the option to replace covered parts with aftermarket, and that they wanted to choose this option. The AUDI dealership I go to only warranty's OEM parts and I had to pay the difference in price. CARS has the "OPTION" to choose aftermarket. Why not just say you ONLY select aftermarket because it's cheaper for you? This is ridiculous and the representatives at CARS come off like they do not care about my issue. I am completely dissatisfied with my experience and will not recommend this company moving forward.

The worst company ever

The worst company ever, very bad management, completely falls contract. When I get contract with them they said $0 deductible but I paid more than $2000. They robe my $100 for inspection. Took forever to connect with someone unprofessional answers to the questions. When I tried to cancel my contract they are not welling to refund my money back. Finally, if anyone want to get stressed and waist their money they should go with Cars protection.

Dear Mr. Sediqi,

Thank you for the purchase of the warranty and the review. I checked your contract and claim, I see that we repaired your engine for over $10k and that you do indeed have a $0 deductible which was not asked for on our end it was listed on the repair bill from the shop which we never collected we paid the claim amount to the shop they would have collected that. I am sorry that you feel you wasted $2,000, however, if I paid $2,000 to get $10,000 that would be a win in my book, where my concern lies is that you felt we did not answer timely and our answers were rude. I would like to discuss this with you if you have a moment to speak with me. Thank you - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281

Dear Mr. Reyes,

I wanted to thank you for the review, we are striving at CARS to get better every day. I have a couple of questions if you have a moment to call me I would be very thankful. I was curious if the dealership offered the level 4 protection or just the level 3 that you had? Level 4 would have covered the entire claim. It would not have covered your request for Ford parts as we build our service contracts to use non-OEM parts, which in reality are all the same as the manufacturers do not build the majority of the parts they put their logo on the box. The engine in your truck was created by Navistar which in 2011 I believe Ford acquired and began to produce the engine themselves. Ford's part supplier list is long and we avoid paying the markup by dealing with the suppliers or a supplier directly. If you have a moment I would like to discuss this with you, I cannot change anything in the past however maybe I can ensure we avoid these issues in the future. Thank you again for the review. - John - 888-335-6838 ext. 1281
