My local branch is in Kensington and I…

My local branch is in Kensington and I love doing the hydra facial and use some of the skinceuticals products
I also really enjoyed my latest hydra facial at the Oxford Street branch thanks to Elena, she was very good and I still feel the glow and smoothness of my skin !!

I went to Cavendish Clinic for a hydrafacial.

I went to Cavendish Clinic for a Hydrafacial 3 days ago (having had excellent results at another clinic) was urged to review my experience when I paid and the next morning by email so here it is: I was charged £70 for a breakout which could easily have been avoided and which will probably leave me with marks and hyperpigmentation for my birthday and through summer.

I thought I’d try the Fitzrovia Cavendish Clinic as it’s nearer my office and home than the clinic I had previously tried. When I arrived, I was asked to fill out a long form which featured questions relating to vague aesthetic goals such as “I want to look prettier” or “I want to look younger.” The single thing I emphasised when I filled out this form was that I had extremely sensitive, acne and hyperpigmentation/scarring-prone skin. My previous hydrafacial had seriously helped clear my skin and seemingly resolved my acne. It was incredibly gentle, and I left with my pores visibly cleaner and my skin dewy, plump and glowing. This time the suction pen was abrasively dragged across my skin (as opposed to repeatedly pressed and lifted). Foolishly I didn’t question this as the clinician seemed knowledgable and gave me skincare advice throughout the treatment (including recommending I purchase products they sell in clinic… which, I know, I should have taken as a warning). After application, she asked how the chemical peel felt on my skin and I said fine but that my cheeks were burning a little bit (which they hadn’t during my previous hydrafacial). Once the technician had finished the facial and I was collecting my things to leave, she informed me she had increased the strength of the peel as is customary with Hydrafacials (I had not been aware of this fact) which “might break me out but hopefully not…but if it does don’t touch it.” I felt distressed hearing this but she had been very lovely and I figured it was too late to reverse her actions so I tried to stay calm and positive and hope for the best. I was perplexed that she had elected to increase the strength of the peel without asking me given that I had stressed my skin’s sensitivity and how happy I had been with my last hydrafacial on the form I had spent 10 minutes completing at the start of my session (and also our conversation throughout the facial). She handed me a mirror to see my skin and I thought it looked fine in the artificial light of the clinic. As soon as I got home 10 minutes later, I looked in the mirror and thought my skin looked red and irritated, and I could see marks where the hydrafacial pen had been dragged across my skin. I could also see gunk in my pores whereas with my other hydrafacial they looked beautiful and clean. I decided to stay positive and trust in the process (and my £70). For the next 24 hours I relaxed, got plenty of sleep, kept my skin clean (not working out or wearing makeup etc) but slowly but surely over the next 48 hours, inflamed pimples began to emerge across the areas that had been red and irritated after the treatment.

Per the form I filled in at the start of the experience, I am not concerned with “aging” etc and did not need my skin burned off by a chemical peel. I needed clear, pampered skin for an upcoming family event, my birthday and for my summer holidays in the sun, which invariably cause any acne marks to darken for the next 6 months (irrespective of my use of SPF50). I’m saddened. I’d like my money back. Most of all I feel foolish for trusting the experts - spa experiences should feel relaxing and not like you have to spend the entire time lecturing your therapist (who after all is meant to be the expert). I’d like to have had the Cavendish Clinic as my go-to given its convenience and how pleasant the staff are but unfortunately cannot recommend it - it’s yet another money-making centre which preys on the insecurities of women. I’d love to be able to say that after this experience I was refunded in full so at least they’re genuine about their objectives but I don’t have much hope for that - I will update/comment on this review if they do! If you have sensitive skin or specific needs, steer clear.

02.05.2023 Update

No refund as of yet. This is the email I received in response - similarly to what I complained of above, they have failed to properly consider the actual contents of my above complaint and appear to suggest the treatment would not have been abrasive and irritating had I only invested in their top up treatments of manual extraction and LED Light therapy. @Cavendish Clinic, you must properly listen to your customers…

“Kindly be advised that unfortunately the HydraFacial does not include manual extraction or celuma as this is part of the Platinum HydraFacial.

There are different steps depending on which type of HydraFacial you are having.”

The Hydrafacial Platinum will not disappoint…

I had my first Hydrafacial at the Cavendish Clinic at Peter Jones in the Summer of 2022, and returned for my second last weekend (April 2023), and after my appointment, I have no idea why I left it so long.

Elena was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. She explained what she was doing at every stage of my treatment, and what products she was using. When my facial was complete, Elena told me the do’s and don’ts on how to treat my skin in the days following my treatment.

My skin looks and feels amazing, and I will not leave it as long before my next one. Thank you Elena.

My therapist was very lovely

My therapist was very lovely, she explained to me the procedure and benefits of it in detail and was very positive and calm, which enhanced my experience. In fact I enjoyed my therapy so much that I booked a course of treatments with the same therapist. Thank you Elena
