Victim of Covid, however refunds should be honoured

Received and booked an experience for Mar 2020 however due to the pandemic unable to use it. Constant promises that the vouchers would be honoured (even when theatres re-opened) until they placed a closure notice. I served a Statutory Demand notice, resulting in a full refund (minus admin fee).

I bought tickets for the Phantom of the Opera with meal tickets as a gift for Xmas 2019. As the recipients live in NZ they have been unable to travel until now due to Covid restrictions. When I emailed on how to redeem the tickets I now find that Celebrate in London is closed. While I have sympathy for business at this time when I try to apply for a refund the tickets are for more than a year ago. How do I get a refund or as travel is open now get new tickets
Thanks

Has anything happened with this…

Has anything happened with this business accountability for its customers. I also had voice messages of reassurance and am now left a theatre and meal voucher I can’t use. Has anyone reported them to watchdog?

Hi Pauline,

Due to the Covid pandemic and the government restrictions imposed on theatres, very sadly, after 16 years "Celebrate In London" has closed.

If you have purchased a voucher that has not expired (the "expiry date" can be found in the bottom right hand corner of your voucher), the quickest way to apply for a refund is via the link below, which takes you to our portal.

Investigate this fraudulent company

The same issue as everyone else here. Paid over £100 for a package for my mum last year. Was unable to redeem the voucher for the theatre as they said on the answer machine message that the theatres were closed due to covid, and would be able to redeem when the theatres re-opened. When checking back, the website is no longer in use and the phone number no longer in use, it seems they have taken the money and run.

For anyone else who has been a victim of this fraud, I recommend we report on the actionfraud website here and get this company investigated: reporting.actionfraud.police.uk/

Time for further Investigation???

Like all the previous reviewers I have a worthless voucher (given to my husband & myself as a Christmas present from my 84 year old Mother to whom £89 was alot of money) and unable to use.
Researched the Company - Real Gift Experiences Limited (05606741) and this was shown as still being active!
Director name is Ben MACQUEEN with a correspondence address of Airport House, Purley Way, Croydon, CR0 0XZ.
Think this could need an investigation from one of Consumer programmes??

Got a voucher to use pre Covid but…

Got a voucher to use pre Covid but obviously not possible as the theatres were shut. Every time I tried to phone to check it would be extended I was told the phone lines were shut until the theatres reopened.

Have been trying to get through every couple of months since, to find today that the company doesn’t exist anymore. Scam.

You can only contact them now if your voucher is ‘valid’ which obviously due to Covid it isn’t but the phone automation said they would be extended

I received a theatre and meal voucher for my 30th Birthday. I have now realised when I have gone to book the voucher is no longer valid as the company no longer exists. Disgusting company, stealing peoples hard earned money and something they were looking forward to. Scumbags!!

Now i know why they've been ignoring the emails i've been sending to know when we could rebook our cancelled booking! I get that many companies have gone out of business as a result of Covid but where's our money gone...! Not to get any communication at all is extremely poor under the circumstances.

Scam, robbing customers

Scam operation. Their website stated that any tickets bought after a certain date would remain valid when theatres reopened. Theatres reopened and they disappear saying that they are now closed. How can you take money for something, have no expenses and then close? The company has robbed customers who gave them money for nothing in return.

Cheats Cheats and more Cheats

I have a theatre package valid until 30th november 2020. The company gave extensions on the tickets sold and have since 5th November gone bust. They are only allowing contact from persons whos tickets are still valid which i assume is nobody as they have been closed for a year. This is not sad news of a company gone bust but a determined effort to cheat us all

I bought this for my girlfriend…

I bought this for my girlfriend December 2019, then when the pandemic hit in March everything closed and we were unable to book it. We rang the helpline and were told at the time that we would be able to book as soon as the theatres re-opened. Fair enough. But the theatres re-opened months ago, its now too late to ask my bank to chargeback to the company and each month the dates change on their "Redeem" FAQ.

I also notice that the original statement saying that if you had purchased the voucher before "March 2018 (and therefore had your usage period affected by the pandemic) that you were entitled to a free 12-month extension" has now been removed. Presumably because 12 months later they STILL aren't taking bookings. It's now been changed to "If you have a valid voucher which has not expired, you will be able to book once we re-open."

The pandemic hit hard and I have lost out on £100 and I am absolutely livid, because I KNOW they are going to say "Its expired" *Shrugs* "We granted a 12 month extension" even though they werent open.

If they sort this out or if I have the wrong end of the stick obviously I'll update this review but if it's still here, it means they took my money and ran. If that's the case, avoid at all costs.

Been trying to ring for almost 2 years now, surely it's not difficult to have people working from home answering the calls and responding to emails. Can't really blame covid anymore since theatres are reopened. message says the same on the phone lines as well not been updated.
Either let us use our tickets, refund us or at least respond to emails.
Terrible customer services
