Renting with chancellors east oxford was one of the most frustrating experiences of my adult life. They don't care about you, they only care about your money.
They were devious from the outset, the property we applied for was offered with a zero deposit scheme, which may be useful for some, but we wanted to pay a deposit as we felt it offered more protection. We were told that the house is only available with the zero deposit option (which is illegal). The advert stated that houses on the zero deposit scheme would see no rent rises during the tenancy, after one year they contacted us to say that the rent was going up - so they lied in their advert. Any issues with the house they were incredibly slow to respond, sometimes not responding at all, and they would always side with the landlord. When we first moved in, the back fence was about to fall over, we sent pictures to chancellors showing the fence at a 45 degree angle, and they replied that the landlord disagrees that the fence is falling over. They could clearly see that the fence was falling over, yet put no pressure on the landlord to get it fixed. The house was mouldy, the landlord didnt care so they didnt care, there was leaking pipes, the landlord didnt care so they didnt care. There was a lot of rubbish and junk in the house when we first moved in, and there were areas of the house that were still dirty from the previous tenants, we asked them to remove it, they didnt care, we had to clean the house and throw things away ourselves. When we first moved in, the bathroom cabinets were so rotten that the doors fell off in my hand the first time i tried to open them, landlord didnt care so they didnt care. They only got the issues fixed when we escalated things to the company directors and threatened legal action if they werent fixed. useless, spineless, devious, uncaring, liars.
The problem with trying to rent in Oxford is that chancellors seem to be the agent for 90% of rentals in oxford, so you have very little choice but to go with them, and they know this.

Manisha was amazing in helping us find our first home. While other agencies discouraged us given our circumstances, she supported us every step of the way. She took us through lots of properties and never made us feel rushed or pressured. Even with our full-time schedules, she made viewings work. Thanks to her, we found our first home!
The sales team then made the whole purchase process smooth and never hesitated to answer my thousand questions.
Truly a smooth, stress-free experience. Highly recommend!

Franki Deacon is our property manager in Headington and we are quite pleased with the support so far from the start of our tenancy. The whole team including Jude who was the lettings negotiator to secure a decent tenancy has been very kind, considerate, cooperative and helpful.
I wish them good luck.
Best wishes,

The agency team responded very quickly and showed they care about their tenants by calling to ensure the issue was resolved or is being addressed. One think I love the most is, they always ask the tenants availability before start or begin to solve the issue

I recently purchased a house in Oxford and worked with Cormac Hale throughout the process. He was professional, approachable, and really knew the local market. Communication was clear and straightforward the whole way through, which made things much less stressful.
I’m excited to move in with my family and start this new chapter. Overall, it was a smooth experience, and I’m genuinely grateful for his help getting us into a place we’re really happy with.

I am a first-time landlord and chose Chancellors because they are a well-known company and I trusted that they would make things easier for me. My experience of this three-year contract has been the following: their service is poor and contractual arrangements both unclear and unfair. Overall, it has been a stressful experience which is why I would suggest that you avoid this company.
The poor service included mistakes when transferring utilities, and a consistent failure to respond to emails. A refund of a month’s fees was given, but this did not restore my faith in the company.
At the end of the contract, I drew up my own contract renting directly with my tenants. Chancellors reminded me of a clause that had not been explained to me: they would continue to charge me fees in perpetuity if the same tenants remained in the property.
This amounts to £1200 a year which is neither fair nor reasonable. Four months after the Chancellors contract finished, they invoiced me and threatened legal action. They refused any compromise and I have been forced to pay the invoice.
