Corks are unopenable!
Two bottles of champagne - one a gift
Could not open either despite using all the usual strategies . One cork broke off .
So two completely undrinkable bottles.
Waste of money and will never buy again.
Never ever had this problem with tattinger
Superb vineyard tour and tasting
Thoroughly enjoyed our vineyard and tasting tour today with the lovely guide Meg.
Meg was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and warm which made the whole experience great fun.
Will definitely return for another tour next year.
Excellent Vineyard tour and tasting.
We were given a tour of the vineyard as a present from our son and we combined it with our anniversary celebrations.
The tour of the vineyard was very informative and the cheese and wine tasting was very enjoyable.
Our guide for the afternoon was a lady called Meg who was both friendly and knowledgeable.
Overall, an excellent experience.
Exceeded my expectations
I was treated to a wonderfully enjoyable tour of the Chapel Down Vineyard and winery on a Sunday morning in early
March, despite my reservations. Our guide was the excellent Martin, who was knowledgeable, approachable and light hearted. He walked and talked us through the whole vitrification process in a thoroughly entertaining way, and was very open to questions. Martin also led us through a tutored wine tasting in a similar humorous vein in the impressive Tasting Room. Then we moved on to fine dining paired with wine in the Swan restaurant, also a 5 star experience. I thoroughly recommend this high end tour.
Tour guide Russell really knows his stuff!
Had a tour led by Russell. He was great entertainment and provided exactly the right amount of info to answer all our questions - can't recommend highly enough...and the wine's not bad too :)
We visited the winery and vineyard…
We visited the winery and vineyard yesterday September 12th and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Freddie led the tour and was very knowledgeable and approachable with a dry sense of humour. We learnt lots about the growing and making process as well as enjoying some guided sampling in the aptly named Wine Sanctuary. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. A word of advice though, tasting samples are very generous so I would not recommend driving and taxis are difficult to get hold of so definitely book one in advance.
Excellent tour, tasting and meal
Excellent afternoon on a very sunny day, walking around the vineyard and winery with knowledgable guide, Martin. Followed by a tutored tasting and a fabulous meal at The Swan. All staff were friendly and attentive.
We had never been before and we will not go again!
First of all we had no idea that we would have to climb so many stairs to get into the restaurant. I saw one elderly lady with a walking stick being very fearful of going back down them.
Then came to food. My starter was okay, but the main meal was dreadful. I had asked for the “Duo of Romney Marsh lamb etc”. I queried the waiter as to what exactly constitutes a “Duo”. He said that the lamb comes in two separate parts. One part is on what looked like a rib, plus another part. When it arrived I could scarcely believe my eyes. What was on the plate was just minuscule! There was no extra part, but what was eventually delivered was a pot containing Shepherds pie!! When the rest of the vegetables arrived, not only were the small potatoes almost raw, they were cold. Apparently I also had a spoonful of dauphinoise potatoes, but I did not recognise them as such because they were almost like mash. The only part of the 3 course meal for £38 I felt good about was the mint chocolate ice cream.
The young ladies serving us were very polite and happy, but the lady who I thought was in charge had a face like thunder!
The only saving feature of our time there was that the wine was cheap - well we were at a vineyard!
I am certain that we will never go there again. The food may satisfy some - but not us!
Fantastic day celebrating a friends…
Fantastic day celebrating a friends 50th with a wine tasting and tour. Russell was a fantastic guide and made the day for us. Extremely knowledgeable but made it fun.
A superb day celebrating with the family
We enjoyed a deluxe experience which included a superb tour with Andrew as our guide. He was delightful, very knowledgeable and taught us such a lot about Chapel Down wines. After the tour he was in charge of our tasting of 5 wines including sparkling. We then went to the Swan restaurant and were served a delicious meal and accompanying wines. I highly recommend this experience.
Grape delight
Beautiful location. Russell was our Fabulous guide for the wine tour and tasting. What an interesting afternoon. He was a really engaging and clearly very knowledgeable in his craft. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience…and the wine tasting wasn’t bad either!!! Thank you.
Don't hesitate in booking the wine tasting
We went to a Wine Tasting at Chapel Down as a present for my husband. Thoroughly enjoyed it. It was for 2 hours, part growing and science and part learning how to properly taste the wine and enjoying it. The wines are delicious and the Guide was brilliant. He’s name was Andrew and the tour was fun, funny and enlightening. Would thoroughly recommend it. Made a lovely present.
Poor customer service
Placed a near £500 order online, and yet in two whole days they hadn't even managed to put it in a box and despatch it! Far too laid back in this day and age. I am local and a shareholder in this business too, and the "discounts" they give us shareholders can quite often be beaten just by buying their wines in Tescos when they have a deal on wine.
A fabulous day
A fabulous day, tour guide Martin was knowledgable and entertaining. Tasting portions were generous and the service and quality of food in restaurant were superb.
We enjoyed this experience so much we are thinking of making the 240 mile trip again to experience Chaeldown at a different time of year!
Great wine and service
Really good service , ordered for an event and delivered really quickly and really well packaged. Great tasting wines, White, Rose and sparkling. Have used a few times now and always superb
Excellent tour/tasting tour last week
Had an excellent tour/tasting last week especially as took along friends who also enjoyed themselves immensely. Thanks also to Andrew who was our excellent guide.
Fantastic food and fantastic service .
Fantastic food and fantastic service .. enough said!
Substandard order fulfilment.
Although down to personal choice Chapel Down produce very good English Style wine of 5* quality.
We decided to order their English Rose NV Christmas Gift Pack with Flutes as a gift to be sent directly to the recipient. This is where the things started to be of concern.
1) The gift set does not come in the box which is supplied as a “flat pack” for the recipient to make up and insert fhe wine and glasses. Other outlets of drink and glasses gift boxes manage to supply with everything suitably protected within the gift box.
2) Express delivery was not an available option for these gift sets.
3) The delivery was not as originally advised and after querying I was advised that dispatch would be by the end of the next day. This never happened.
4) I then emailed them again and received a reply that they were awaiting the supply of the glasses with delivery asap.
5) Eventually the order was dispatched and in fairness by Parcel Force 24hr and has been received by the recipient.
I note that all the Christmas Gift Sets are now showing as out of stock. Chapel Down certainly let themselves, and their customers, down by substandard marketing.

Amazing wines
The Bacchus is like Marlborough region Sauvignon Blanc. Delivery is easy and free. I’ve tried the mixed cases and also the gin and loved it all (probably a bit too much!)
Another Mixed case just arrived
This wine is wonderful after trying these wines we are now buying far less European wine now and put a regular order into Chapel down, the Bacchus -Flint Dry and Rose are all great wines.
