Went to Cheese Fest today at Milton Keynes venue. So disappointed! A few poor value cheese stalls, most not even offering samples before purchasing. Wallace & Gromit area was nothing special and a man singing irritating songs loudly was pretty much it.
It is not worth the entrance money, you would do better going to a cheese market!
There really is nothing positive to be said about this rip off event!
Went along to the cheese festival at…Milton Keynes
Went along to the cheese festival at Milton Keynes was looking spend some time with my hubby whilst our daughter went along to a friends party. Turned up after paying £12 for two tickets plus £7 for parking as there was a footy match on. There was a couple of stalls with cheese 🧀 to be sold. You couldn’t get near the stalls as greedy people just stood there and didn’t move along and weren’t even buying. Or they pushed us out of the way. 🤨 plus the none cheese stalls like dips etc had little wooden sticks to use to try. Really !!! Broken crackers would of been better or some thing similar. We did manage to try some cheese from a lovely lady who herself was from Halifax let us try before we bought. All I can say is thankyou to her. Your cheese is lovely. Don’t think I’d go again as was only there for about 45 mins as there wasn’t enough stalls to warrant a 2+ hr visit.
Small, staff were rude, some good bits
Bought a family ticket for £20 and then read the reviews... suffice to say we thought we’d chance it anyway.
Sadly, the organisers were quite obnoxious which really took the shine off it - in particular the guy on the entrance to the build a Gromit workshop who speaks to people like they’re thick and not worth his time. It’s also an additional fee (beyond the £20), so not included in the ticket price.
The festival itself is quite small, which was OK, and there were four stalls selling good cheese. The rest were slightly cheese themed or not at all. Wallace and Gromit were there and they had quite a cool set which you could have your photo taken.
We wouldn’t go back.
Cheesefest Detling, 22 Jun 19 - what a stinker!
Before I start in earnest, if there had been an option to leave no stars, I would have taken it.
My partner and I were really looking forward to this event - with both of us working long hours, we don't get much free time to visit such events, so were excited to go, given the write ups on the website and the daily email reminders in the run up to the event exclaiming what a great show it would be.
We were bitterly disappointed with the reality - we arrived within our timed slot, as per the tickets bought online, stayed about 20 minutes - which was ample time to survey what was on offer - and left.
There were only what looked to be a dozen or so stalls in a dark and dingy hall, half of which weren't even selling cheese at all and then a collection of overpriced food outlets outside - the stall that held the most interest by far was the bar and there was nothing like the range of products that we had hoped to see.
We had hoped to meet up with some friends who were booked into a later arrival slot than us, but we decided not to wait, as the event was such a let down - when I spoke to my friend, she said exactly the same thing - that herself and her husband were so disappointed.
There was so much more that could have been made of the event - I definitely would not recommend it to anyone, and am very doubtful about any reviews that you might read of more than the obligatory one star. :(
Lucky no stars is not possible
Lucky no stars is not possible. Absolute RIP off at Detling nr Maidstone. 7 cheese stalls, no free samples. Food outside very pricey. £11.50 a ticket for what? Don't waste your money. Go to a farmers market or even Waitrose cheese counter. Get the same for free. Scandalous! As for the music they could only afford one very loud man who doubtless was at least doing his best. Waited longer in the queue than we spent in the venue. Give it miss for you own sake
Fake reviews!
All of the people who have left positive reviews work for hijack promotions.... I assume the organisers of cheese fest. Quick Facebook search yields all
What a waste of money
What a waste of money, paid £22 for a family ticket only to get in to a hall filled with cheese and other food stalls all overpriced and very little samples. Small Wallace and gromit feature at the back of the hall, there was a modelling activity and when we asked about it we were told it started at 12pm it was then 10am, so what to do with two boys 5 years and under for two hours? Wallace and a small gromit came out for a few minutes but wasn't all that.
Really disappointed we were so looking forward to it and feel really let down, we believe it was marketed towards children with the whole Wallace and gromit theme, but no really no!!
Very disappointed was there about…Cheese Fest rip off
Very disappointed was there about 15minutes. Can’t understand how they can justify the ticketing prices at £10 each. Overpriced food outlets. A few cheese stalls. Absolutely appalling
Thought More would have been made of the Wallace and Gromit theme. A few cardboard cut outs. Absolutely awful.I emailed the organisers twice to give them the opportunity to respond but they failed to acknowledge.
Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. My family and I (big fans of Wallace and Gromit) were very much looking forward to the event. Almost £30 for 4 of us to get in. We stayed about 15 minutes. A few overpriced cheese stalls, extortionately priced fast food. The Wallace and Gromit part consisted of a few cardboard cut outs and various props. Extremely poor all round. Sadly we had pre booked and there was no way of getting our money back. If anyone is considering going to a future event, avoid at all costs.
Liars
All comments about Cheesefest at Malvern on the Cheesfest Facebook page have been deleted. I have left mine twice now.
Also strange that the Trustpilot reviews prior to Saturdays event in Malvern were all left on the 11th March when there wasn't any event. All the reviews left on the 11th were positive and yet all the comments left after the Malvern event were negative. Something tells me all the positive reviews on Trustpilot are works of fiction.
Cringe-worthy
Cringe-worthy - £27 to get into a large shed with a few stalls selling expensive cheese. Some uninspiring Wallace and Grommet exhibits. No tasting included in entrance fee! Surprisingly busy despite the limited appeal which made the experience even worse. Left after 10 minutes.
If I could leave zero stars for this…
If I could leave zero stars for this review I would. Myself and my family went to Cheesefest today at the Malvern Three Counties showground. It was a complete disappointment and a total ripoff. We paid nearly £30 for this. We were unable to do the model making as they had run out of the 'kits' so we would have had to wait until 4pm (our slot was 12-2) and we were pushing it to spend more than 45 mins there. Basically we paid a load of money to go to a farmers market with the usual overpriced food on offer (£12 for two pots of macaroni cheese, only stall without an insane queue) and enormous queues. I think the positive reviews of this must be fake, or its just this venue it has not been good. I would not bother again in the future if it ever returns to Malvern. Have emailed the organisers complaining and asking for a refund, not expecting to hear back of course but worth expressing our dissatisfaction I feel.
Appalling waste of money
Appalling waste of money. Nearly £30 to get a family of four in to see only about 8 stalls selling cheese and expensive food stalls with huge queues. The organisers should be ashamed of themselves however they are too busy counting their money which they earned lying to people. Cheese fest is definitely to be avoided.
Terrible
Terrible. Few stalls, poor family entertainment. Can’t believe I wasted money on this event! Certainly NOT a ‘grand day out’ as was advertised. Appalling!
Awful!!
Awful - nothing more than a cheese market with an excessive admission fee!!
