Watch the exchange rate!
The transaction was relatively smooth. However, while the item purchased was priced in Japanese Yen, Chrono24 insisted on billing me in USD with an
exchange rate that seems to be quite unfavorable to me. This translated to a significantly higher cost for my purchase. Also, when the delivery was delayed, Chrono24 staff (Tracy) was initially not too helpful with her first reply. Nevertheless, she eventually did help convey the message to the seller, after some comment were made by me.
(Note : The above were my earlier comments which I have left unchanged... and the following are my comments added on 23 Sept 2022, after reading the reply from Chrono24.)
I have decided to down my rating of Chrono24 from two stars to just one star, my reason are as follows:
1. I am not looking for a reimbursement, I am just trying to offer an honest review, and from their reply Chrono24 doesn't seem to see/understand this point.
2. I am in Singapore and the Seller is in Japan, so we are both in Asia. I am not convinced that Chrono24 needed to be so inefficient, such that they need to transfer money (and pay fees) between Europe and North America to facilitate the transaction.
3. Chrono24 was not upfront about the "2.5% max" levy charged above the ECB exchange rate, and they did charge me the maximum levy possible of 2.5%, when it seems that they had the flexibility to charge less when they said it was "2.5% MAX"!
4. Asking a client to simply send a message to cancel a transaction (instead of doing some soul searching and try harder to do better next time), seems to be telling its customer to "just take it or leave it"! They couldn't have been more snobbish and infuriating than this, or could they?!

Sellers enter the listing price in their local currency. Chrono24 then converts the price and displays it to the buyer before they pay for their order.
Unfortunately, we cannot currently offer buyers a choice of payment currency.
The exchange rate used by the payment service provider is a maximum of 2.5% above the price set by the European Central Bank (ECB). In addition to standard exchange fees, this difference also includes the costs of transferring the money; for example, between Europe and North America.
We completely understand if a buyer decides not to buy a watch as a result of these costs. In this case, a short message to us is sufficient.
Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse any cost benefits that may arise for the buyer or seller from using a more favorable exchange rate.

Chrono24, will they actually refund? Misleading Advertisement!

I recently tried to purchase a Daytona via Chrono24 from a US dealer. The advertisement stated "original box and papers"
I called Chrono a number of times and they advised,
1. Make sure to the check the watch once it arrived,
2. Ensure I was 100% comfortable,
3. The escrow account allowed for the 14 day refund policy,
4. The dealer had sold over 1,000 watches via Chrono24
5. The dealer was viewed viewed as trustworthy.
6. I even checked out the dealer as they claim they have been collectors since 1946…….
Based on that I proceeded and completed the wire transfer. After a few days I decided to check again and make sure that the card shown in the picture was the actual authenticity card.
More fool me. After I specifically asked the dealer they advised it was a warranty card not the authenticity card. So the "original box and papers" were not included!
I cancelled the transaction. I called Chrono24, in Asia and Germany and asked for the "payments" department who advised my payment had not reached their "MangoPay" account at Barclays (?). However my bank Commonwealth advised that the monies had been received and that Barclays are waiting for confirmation to return the money. The lady in rhe Payment Account was very helpful and assured me I would receive my monies back ….
So is this 23k down the drain, or will they honour their policy, what they have committed (verbally) and return the money? They say 5 days for an international wire, but that does seem long as most other wires I have received are 2 days. Maybe I am wrong ….
The watch was never shipped and order cancelled 1-2 days after the monies were sent. I also lodged a claim via my bank.
Has anyone had a similar experience and how did it turn out?
I can hope that Chrono24 honour their policy.
It would be great to write about this as a positive experience.

Bad experience
Chrono24 took too long to verify my identity despite me providing pictures of my passport and identity card. I had reiterated my purchasing history with Chrono24.
My recent order TC-5235212 was eventually cancelled by the seller since they did not receive the payment which I had already paid Chrono24 more than 3 weeks ago. Kindly look into this matter urgently.
