I joined Cinema Paradiso after Amazon stopped their service.
Very satisfied with C.P,and turn around of discs is quick.
I usually receive discs from the top of my list which Amazon didn't do .
Now in the time of Covid 19 C.P have doubled the amount of discs they send due to the slowness of the postal service.
This is a nice touch and they should be commended for this kind offer.
I have been enjoying the Cinema Paradiso service for a long time now and it has always been excellent. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, this company, due to slightly slower postal deliveries, has been sending me 4 DVD rentals instead of my usual 2, FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. They did this by their own choice and, to me, this is a wonderful service made even better. Thank you.
I have used them since Amazon stopped their own similar service and they've always been great. They have a brilliant and large collection of films that are impossible to find elsewhere and I've never had a problem with them.
Wonderful company - I cant sing their praises enough - as I have mentioned to the company itself they charge too little for the product and service they provide - they cannot be beaten - if you are an ardent movie fan like myself - do yourself a favour and join this company - you will not regret it !!!!
I was paying £15/month for 2 discs at a time, unlimited. But if you get ''too unlimited'' they will slow down the time to dispatch. I was getting through 2 a week but they obviously thought that was too much as works out £2 per film and with the free postage, they are not making any money. I have now cancelled as ''unlimited'' does not actually mean ''unlimited'' if they are controlling when they dispatch. Often 5-6 days after they have received the film back.
I love this service! Quick turn around, reliable, never had any problems with the DVDs not playing (which I did experience occasionally when LoveFilm was taken over by Amazon).
And above all, the range of films available is amazing - that's why a DVD rental service is still so valuable even in these days of streaming services - there's just so much more choice and when I hear about a film and want to see it, it's always available via this service (which is usually not the case for Netflix!)
For the most part, I cannot fault them - excellent choice of films. The only issue I have is how long it is taking for films to return to them in order for them to allocate me my next two!! I'm paying £15 per month now and I'm finding that I'm receiving less films per week - 1st class should surely take one day to reach you, two days on a weekend (providing I post them before Royal Mail empty their postbox!!) It feels like your delaying to save on postage!! Great film selection but sluggish movie returns!!
I never imagined the company sent you physical disc, moreover, it can’t be played through the standard external DVD drive.

Excellent service. Cannot fault them. Reviewers who compare the service with Netflix or other streaming services are missing the point. For what it offers, 'real' Blu Ray or DVD discs of art, foriegn language or mainstream films then it is a very good service indeed. If you want to rent a film that is not available online then this is the company to use.
They have a great collection. Unfortunately customer service is very poor and discs arrive late almost ALWAYS, or don't even arrive. Every week I have to contact them at least twice to report the problem. They don't seem to care that much.
I suspect this might have something to do with the number of discs I borrow. I had the unlimited, most expensive, package. I write about film, so I need to see a lot of them. They must have freaked out and started finding ways to delay sending discs out. It feels a lot like it's done on purpose. One day they suggested that the two envelopes I had returned may have been lost in the post, which I find very strange - I sent posted them back on different days over the weekend and from two different parts of London. Chances of those two envelopes getting lost simultaneously are probably as high as a comet hitting the earth.
The amount of times they've told me that the discs must have got lost on the post or delays suggests that the post office service in this country is probably the most inefficient in the world. Either that or they lie to save themselves a few pennies. (my bet: the last).
After much complaining they 'compensated' me with a free month but the delays (and the lies) got even worse. Had enough of them. they can keep their 'free' month.
i cannot rave enough about this service. the range is mind-blowing; it is very user-friendly; it is very reasonably priced; delivery is speedy and there have been no issues with disk quality. For anyone who gets sick of scrolling through reams of Netflix fodder (80% of my netflix watches have been because they were the best of a bad bunch) this is the service to turn to... I watched 'to sleep with anger' and then 'Mishima'. If I had decided to buy them, that would have been about £45 - £50. With CP it was a fraction of 9.98.
Good selection of blu-rays/DVDs, and new releases, which are dispatched quickly (and on the same day of a return). I switched to this after Amazon's takeover of LoveFilm. Blu-rays are better value and of higher picture/sound quality than downloads.
Outstanding!
We checked out the best rated US comedy series and it came up with The Middle. The series it excellent and up there with classics. Yet no broadcaster in the UK has picked it up.
Cinema Paradiso had the first couple of series which we all loved. So we contacted them and asked for the full series and - within 12 hours - Cinema Paradiso responded and added the remaining six series to their library.
An absolutely first class service and response.
I cannot recommend Cinema Paradiso more highly.
I set up this account for my mother, who is elderly and not very tech-savvy. She sends me by post a written list of the films she wants to watch, and I add them to here Cinema Paradiso account! It works really well, and there are all the oldies and golden greats she remembers from yesteryear. I highly recommend this for someone of a similar situation.
By far the best movie rental service. None of the major streaming companies have anywhere near as many up-to-date titles, or as many quality titles. Amazon boasts of hundreds of movies on Prime but a great many of them score less that 4/10 on IMDb (there are actually titles on their list that score less than 3/10). Netflix's list is simply bloated by their own products. You might have the slight inconvenience of having to return your discs with CinemaParadiso, but all you do is seal it in the prepaid envelope and drop in a mailbox. In all the years I've been using the service I've never been without at least two movies a week - the efficiency of the turnaround couldn't be bettered. If you just want any old movies, you might as well buy them for £1 apiece from your local market stall. But if you want the very latest available titles, CinemaParadiso is the only way to go.
I have never had a problem with this site. Always a quick turnaround on discs with a excellent selection. The few problems I have had have been quickly and politely solved. Love them.
Have been using for a few years after Amazon bought my previous DVD sender!
Have all the things I can't get elsewhere. DVDs rarely jump, turn around seems pretty quick and at a good price.
Probably wise to avoid this DVD rental company. Their turnaround is ridiculously slow and gets unnecessarily worse at Xmas. If you have an account,do not make the mistake of threatening to close it close to a renewal date because they will issue fake allocations. For example, I made a threat about 10 days before renewal and they listed two disks as being allocated. They did not ever arrive and I reported this as a problem, after which they removed them from my allocation list, but only after 3 days and several more attempts to ask them to make another allocation. However, after a new allocation was made "on their web site" on the day before my monthly renewal was due and they claimed to have sent them out, I cancelled my subscription only for them to pull the allocation that they claimed to have made. Their customer care is none existent and they drone on every time about how they understand the customer's frustration. Same wording every time, which makes me think their "customer care" replies are automated responses.
Excellent service so glad that there is still a company sending out dvds. Thank you.
Don't join! I signed up for a free trial with 2 discs a month.
After the trial, my service was mysteriously upgraded to unlimited discs at twice the price.
The rude customer service person said I made a mistake and that I 'must follow the procedure' like something out of Alphaville.
The Welcome email buries the price/subscription level 3/4 of the way down so mistakes are hard to find unless you've got nothing better to do than read tedious emails.
