Shocking service
I got no call as promised ahead of the delivery. Today I checked the tracking at 1pm which said they had tried to deliver today at 1.51pm (in the back to the future car no doubt) and had left a card, which they hadn't. When I rang they said it was actually yesterday they tried to deliver and could tell me the colour of my front door to prove it. They now offer be a weekday delivery next week which is not possible for me and if I don't change it from Monday, they will attempt a final Delivery even though I'm not going to be there. I was advised to ask the sender to authorise payment for a Saturday delivery. (To rectify their appalling customer service)
wonderful driver
I have just received my order, I have to say I am over the moon, recently I have had so many problems with Amazon delivery drivers, I live on a private estate and our intercom system is down, I have left instructions with my order for the drivers to call me and I have also put notices on the gate but they had to attempt delivery at least twice before I received my delivery. I thought it was going to be the same again today but your driver turned up within 10 mins of the delivery slot, called me, I let him in, he bought a package with him at had just been left at the gate.. he was happy, professional, outstanding customer service.. well done city link.. you have a good one there.
Absolutely disgraceful company
Second time within a month that they say they have delivered parcels - when they haven't. The first time they said they had a signature, which wasn't mine, they would investigate and get back to me as soon as possible. They didn't. Today they supposedly delivered two parcels - again they didn't.
They are an absolute disgrace. Luckily for me the company sending the goods is exemplary and prides itself on its customer service. Maybe it's time for them to change their delivery company. I would never use City Link, ever.
Nothing surprising.. same rubbish!
OK, I won't explain all in details my horrible story with them (I will just note that I still have my parcel NOT COLLECTED even!!! And I already have big big problems with them). I am trying to cancel my order now as I was chocked reading people's complains and especially the photos here of broken items! Worth reading this as well (it was in newspaper Mail online): Christmas delivery panic! Scores of City Link customers accuse couriers of losing orders over fears gifts would not arrive in time for the big day.
They should loose their licence! Where is the government?
Terrible!
They picked up 2 parcels; delivered only one. Couldn't find the lost parcel. Were not able to compensate me for the lost £600 as they rejected my claim without explanation. It takes ages before you find a way to get through to somebody using the live-chat feature. These people are nice enough but cannot help at all. Stay away from them. They're not worth it.
Abysmal- how do you deliver to the wrong house on the wrong road?
I took a day off work today to wait in for an important parcel.
Got up nice and early to make sure I would be awake to hear the delivery (unspecified time of course) and I waited in the house.
Keeping an eye on the online tracking I see that they have 'attempted to deliver' whilst I was sitting around but apparently I was not in..
I call up to find out what had happened and after some discussion and from the photo the driver took of where he delivered we work out that he attempted to deliver my parcel to the wrong house on the wrong road.
How this happened is beyond me- especially as my postcode on any sat nav or mapping will take you straight to my house.
A lady on the phone tried to get the driver to bring it back the same day - no luck. I cannot take another day off work to wait around for another abysmal "attempt" to deliver my parcel so now I will have to travel to the depot this evening to pick it up.
What an absolute waste of time and pretty awful that a delivery company will try to deliver something to entirely the wrong location.
The Terry Waite experience
I feel compelled to warn people of this awful company.
As we all know, life is short, fleeting, to be cherished. In the blink of an eye it's gone. I lost a day of my life to City Link yesterday as I took the day off work to wait for them to collect a faulty TV which Amazon had sent me. I was told that the collection would happen between 09:00-17:30 but a specific time could not be specified. Ok, fine, I guess. I'll just have to wait it out.
Here's my diary of a day spent essentially under house arrest waiting for these idiots:
09:00 : I'm off work today but I need to still be up early so I don't miss City Link. They could come at 9am, right? I need to be up. So I'm up.
10:00 : I've had some scrambled eggs on toast and treated myself by throwing some cheese on top of the bread as well. Lovely. But I could do with a shower. Wait. I can't. Murphey's Law. If I get in the shower then City Link will arrive. I'll survive. Bit of deodorant. No problem.
14:00 : Still fine. Well within the 09:00-17:30 time and I'm finally getting chance to catch up on some Sky+ shows. Micky Flanagan's Detour De France is excellent! I've just had a tuna butty.
17:00 : Ok... I'm getting worried. It's still fine, technically, they've got half an hour yet. And then I can grab that shower and go out and get something for tea since I don't have anything in. I go to flick the outside light on so my door is illuminated since it's getting dark now. That will help him out when he comes. Aren't I thoughtful?
17:15 : Door bell rings. Finally. Wait, it's Dominoes. "Huh? I didn't order any food. You've got the wrong house." "Is this not number 104?", she says "Uhm. No, this is number 2", I say, as I direct her to the huge number 2 right next to the door bell she pressed just 10 seconds ago." Dammit. Maybe I should have accepted, my belly is rumbling.
17:30 : Nothing. Ok this isn't right. I ring City Link and am told, "due to the fact it's getting near Christmas, deliveries and collections can happen up to 20:00. I can see that your package is still to be collected today. The driver has not said he isn't collecting so it should be fine." Ok, great, I guess. I'll just have to survive a bit longer, I'm stinking like a skunk and hungry but no bother, he'll be here soon. So my prison term has been extended until potentially 20:00. Stop moaning. Some more deodorant and a pack of crisps will see me through. What would Terry Waite do?
18:30 : Door bell rings. Finally! Oh no, it's the window cleaner wanting his money. "Sorry pal, I've been under house arrest all day thanks to City Link so I haven't been able to go out and get any cash. Will settle with you next time." He's not happy.
20:00 : Nothing. I Ring City Link. Office closed. Great. I'll wait until 20:30 just to be sure, then I'm free of this house arrest for the day at least.
20:30 : I jump in the shower and head out for some food. Now I know how Mendala felt when he got out.
Next day at 09:00 I ring City Link and am told "the driver tried to collect but no one was home". I can't help but laugh down the phone as I say "that's rubbish, I took the day off work yesterday to wait for this. I was living like a smelly hermit waiting for you guys to come, your driver is a liar". "you'll have to rebook through Amazon", I am told. I just hang up as I can feel my blood pressure rising.
I get in touch with Amazon (who have been excellent) and say I'd like to have it re-booked under a delivery company who aren't a bunch of complete idiots and liars. They rebook under DPD.
Compleat rubbish service all round
I ordered 2 items from early learning centre on the Sunday and paid for next day delivery, understanding this would be Tuesday but needed them here by then as I wasn't going to be around after that. Get an eMail Tuesday but with no time for delivery so tried to phone city link couldn't get through. Phoned Elc they looked on screen to say parcels had gone to wrong depot and would be delivered next day. As I wasn't going to be here I asked Elc if they could change address to my daughters. Put phone down to get email at 11 to say parcels would be delivered Between 12 44 and 2 441 phoned Elc and told them not to change address after all as they were on way. They assured me hadn't been changed yet. I waited and they never came so I phoned Elc up and they emailed City Link to enquire what was wrong to be told they were running late. I waited till 4 but then had to pop out . Came back half hour later. No parcels or note. Phoned city link to be told still on way. At 7pm get an email to say been delivered left in safe place please read card. Nothing had come here so scoured neighbourhood nothing found. Phoned city link to be told don't know why that was sent it hasn't been delivered. Would be sent next day to new address. Really not happy by this point. Was given new consignment number. Next day waited and looked online for new time, nothing. Phoned Elc they emailed city link. Still nothing. At 12 I phoned city link again and was told they hadn't got any parcels at there depot and couldn't help me further as they were just a call centre, was told to get in car and go sort it out. Not easy as don't drive and live in country. Phoned Elc up and they cancelled order re ordered for next day and they phoned and emailed city link to tell them. Yesterday one parcel went to one address the other came here and was left with neighbour. My daughter refused her parcel as by now replacements were on way. Now no email with new order times. I give up. No apologies from city link. Cost me over £30 in phone calls. Don't use this company if you want a good service you can depend on. I will tell everyone this. Absolutely disgusting.
Totally appalling customer service, they don't even bother to try and deliver
first item was received damaged after 3 failed attempts to deliver so they say, even though someone was in all time, no wonder it was damaged probably due to the amount of times it was on and off van. Replacment item has not been received and they say they have attempted to deliver four times but they haven't, they have my mobile and text to say parcel coming. But it never arrive and they don't try and call for directions
Expertly dealt with my order.
Easy to arrange online. Even swiftly dealt with a query and a last minute alteration to the itinerary. Highly recommended so far. Thank you for your help Emma.
Worst delivery company ever. And I shop online a lot!
Similar experience to most people here. Waited a whole Saturday for my new TV bought on Amazon, nothing. Apparently City Link tried to deliver to the wrong address. So I had to take a day off work during the week for a second attempt, after telling City Link my mobile number and asking to be called in case of any problems. Waited until 7pm, then found that they delivered the TV to some unknown person - with a completely different name, and obviously at a very different address (I don't even have any neighbours by that name!). So someone else now has my new TV. Worst delivery company ever.
Don't use them
I ordered something from Argos and it must come with CityLink. They try to deliver it but nobody was at home. I reschedule my second attempt for another date, because nobody was at home on the next working day. But they ignore this message for reschedule and try to deliver my item on the next day. When I complain for this in their website, the answer was that their system doesn't show that I reschedule the delivery. And they did nothing. At the end of the day I didn't receive my item. Argos also didn't want to help me and I never received this item.
Unreliable and Dishonest
Received notification that I would receive my delivery within a 2 hour morning window so made arrangements to be home. Package never came and tracking page noted it was late, but of no other issues. At some point, the tracking page stated that a request was made to redeliver the following day (not by me or the retailer). I sent them an email (no phone number on the site!) about the issue and was promised a reply within 24 hours (no reply as of yet). Again, I made plans to be home for the delivery. I then receive a voice message from the retailer that they are having troubles finding my house and that the delivery man had told them that he had tried to call, but couldn't. Dishonest - first, my home is in the center of town and can be found by using google maps (literally to my doorstep); second, no one tried to call me. I had my phone next to me, ringer on, and with cell signal the entire time. I called the retailer and relayed this info; she looked into it and said that they said they would call me for directions. No one called and another day went by. Awful, awful company. Will never use and will make sure that anyone I buy from won't use. Retailer should reconsider using them, as they're losing business.
WORST COMPANY EVER DO NOT USE
You really would not believe the nightmare I've had sending a parcel, it's taken 9 days for a next day delivery. I've been on the phone to them several times a day trying to sort it out, every day they say it will be delivered tomorrow and then it doesn't, the drivers seem useless and the call centre staff have no idea what is going on. I know they're cheap but it really isn't worth using them, it just encourages their sham of a business.
Very helpful. Emma had sorted my issue out in no time.
Really pleased with the online help and particularly the assistant helping me - Emma. She was very pleasant (which is very hard to get across when in writing), did what I needed her to do, and within a very short amount of time had sorted the issue out. I hope I dont get any more issues in the future but if I do, I would feel confident that it would be sorted out promptly, effectively and with little stress, so long as they are all like Emma.
Excellent Service
I wanted to send a parcel to be delivered on a certain day within a certain time period and spoke to EMMA via Live Chat. This Lady was excellent in explaining the various options and guiding me through the various steps and arranged the delivery and explained the various stages. I wish Emma worked for my Company!
Badly let down by an appalling bunch!!
I booked a collection for next day delivery, collection should have taken place yesterday 24/11/2014, we were here all day and no one came to collect (we have Cctv and there was no card left and no-one knocked the door) when I rang at 5.25 last night I was told that the driver had called at 2pm, this is untrue. I was then told during another call that it was possible that the driver was working late and had not called at all (we already knew he hadn't called!) and that they would ring me back with further information - they did not. I was then told when I called back that there was nothing that could be done! I paid for a service which I and my customer in London were relying on as this consignment was needed TODAY for an important event. I have rebooked for collection today which when I have just spoken to their helpline they seem to be unaware of any collection today, what the hell is the point in offering a service that they are clearly incapable of delivering. UPS are slightly more expensive its true but at least they are reliable, I will never risk an important NEXT DAY delivery again with them nor will I even risk any kind of delivery!! Also I have emailed the managing director 3 times over the course of the day and as yet have received not a single response, what disgusting customer service!!!!!
Web chat help was great
First time I have used City Link for courier service. Needed some help so went on the website and was pleased to see that they have a web chat service - which is great for numbskulls like me.
Jo helped me through the process I needed to book a parcel delivery and was really helpful. I will definitely use City Link again particularly as my son is due to start working for them on 1st December! Great 1st time experience well done!
EXceptionally Awful ! No wonder they're ranked 50th.
So I had no warning the item I've ordered was coming via City Link if I had I wouldn't have ordered it. They didn't tell me they were planning to deliver on that day so I wasn't there. They left a note (1st time for everything I suppose) They're going to attempt again between 7.30 and 17.30. 10 hours! They 'blabb' about their new 2 hour delivery on their website but have NEVER delivered their promises to me. When will this awful company just disappear? If I miss the next attempt I've got a 2 hour journey to collect from some grubby warehouse in the middle of nowhere. What a hassle and I'm simply going to avoid any company that uses them.
Very helpful
Emma effectively helped answer the questions I had regarding a delivery around Christmas time.
