I have to say that my recent experience…

I have to say that my recent experience at this hotel was nothing short of appalling. From the moment I interacted with Ross on the night desk, it became clear that he is completely ill-equipped to handle the role he has been given. His attitude was not only passively aggressive but also dismissive, unhelpful, and frankly, incompetent. It is astonishing that someone with such a lack of professionalism and basic customer service skills could be trusted to manage the front desk during any shift, let alone the night shift when guests are most vulnerable to needing assistance.

To make matters worse, the security guard on duty was no better—completely cut from the same cloth. Rude, unapproachable, and utterly disinterested in helping guests, he only added to what quickly became one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. At no point did I feel like a valued guest; instead, I was made to feel like an inconvenience for simply expecting the minimum level of courtesy and professionalism.

While this hotel may be inexpensive, that should never justify such shocking behavior or such a lack of basic service standards. Cheap rates do not excuse rudeness, incompetence, or an environment that makes paying customers feel unwelcome and unsafe.

I will never stay at this hotel again and strongly advise anyone considering it to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other hotels that understand the meaning of customer service and guest care. Do yourself a favor and avoid what was, for me, a horrific and deeply disappointing experience.

I stayed in the Clayton hotel

I stayed in the Clayton hotel, Leopardstown, Sandyford Dublin. I was attending a hospital appointment. The hotel room temperature was 28 degrees no air conditioning. I was just given a fan. I didn't sleep all night felt very ill as a result. I will never stay there again. No fridge in room either for drinks. This hotel is out of date and not fit for purpose. Staff were unfriendly and not helpful either i heard loads of other people coming up complaining about their room. Please do not stay too there. What I paid versus what service I got was so so bad😞

clayton hotel at liffey valley

Stayed at the clayton hotel at liffey valley dublin and I have to say that the staff can not do enough for you. Sarah Jane in the restaurant was outstanding and always very happy and smiling. She is an attribute to the company and deserves a lot of praise. Thank you very much Sarah Jane

Rooms are uncomfortably hot during the summer

I booked the airport hotel. While the hotel and staff were lovely, the room I booked was uncomfortably hot and made it difficult to sleep. I raised this with the manager, who pointed out that the lack of air conditioning is mentioned on the website and that fans are available on request. However, for a 4-star hotel, I expected better climate control without having to ask. Future guests should be aware of this—I'm sure it's more comfortable in cooler months.

One to avoid as mis sold

I stayed in the Clayton in cardiff with my wife and son and booked 2 executive rooms. I was given rooms 922 and 925 not executive rooms as these were on the 10th floor. So conned. The corridor had a horrible smell the rooms were dirty and dark the bed very small more like a large single and the bed and chairs very worn One room looked at a wall the other had a small window in the corner. The bathroom was clean but in need of replacement very tatty. The bar and restaurant were much better but expensive I booked a drinks package but was told in company this could not be the case as it was only for special occasions quite embarrassing the reception apologised and told me this was wrong and refunded me for it. I am left feeling disappointed and conned. My recommendation is stay somewhere else.

Comfortable Stay in a Great Location

Stayed at Clayton Hotel recently my room was clean, and the bed was ok . Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location near the city centre. Only downside was a bit of a wait at check-in and breakfast.

Rooms very dated. Television didn’t work 3 x attempts by staff to get it working. Offered a change of room at 11:45pm 🤦‍♀️ can’t remember when I stayed in a hotel with a shower over the bath and a shower curtain 😂 but staff very friendly and professional. Restaurant staff lovely no complaints. Hotel needs a refurb. But very clean so cleaning staff doing a good job. No complaints with staff but defo needs to be upgraded better hotels in the area. delta, tribe x

Daylight robbery

I booked a room with Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane, and they cancelled it almost immediately after I paid. I never received a refund, despite emailing them for weeks with no response. Eventually, I had to dispute the charge through Revolut and got my money back — only for Clayton Hotels to dispute the refund and take the money back again, even though I never stayed there and they provided no service whatsoever.

This is completely unacceptable and feels like theft, plain and simple. Avoid this hotel group at all costs — unresponsive, unprofessional, and clearly have no issue keeping your money without delivering anything in return.

I rated the Clayton Hotel as excellent…

I rated the Clayton Hotel as excellent because we held our wedding in their restaurant. Everything was perfectly set up, thanks to TJ, the Meetings and Events Coordinator, who demonstrated meticulous planning and attention to detail. Our guests and I were very pleased with the service provided by Steven, who was highly professional. The food was well-presented and delicious. We would highly recommend the Clayton Hotel for any event. Thank you for making our wedding day so special!

Naff restaurant

Hotel very nice. But the meal in the restaurant was disappointing. We had paid in advance for a 2 course meal even though it was very expensive. Paid extra for the steak and found that I should have saved my money. What can I say, it was disappointing. I will not be eating here again that’s for sure.

Clayon Hotel, Belfast

A hotel that's punching way above it's weight price wise.

For over £160 for a single night including breakfast I found the accommodation lacking. Sheets were clean and breakfast was good (hence 2 stars) but the room itself was in need of updating. Quite rundown/patched in places.

Soundproofing between rooms was terrible. I could clearly hear the occasional cough and a sneeze from next door.

Bathroom was grotty (some mouldy sealant around bath, cracked toilet and unsavoury shower curtain (yes, a bath and shower curtain and not a proper shower for that price!).

I have stayed at better Travelodge's at half the price in as good a locations.

Oh, and I never did manage to get a receipt from them.

Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge – Restaurant Team

I stayed at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge during a recent business trip and was thoroughly impressed by the service, especially from Victor and his team in the restaurant.

Victor was exceptional – professional, welcoming, and consistently attentive throughout my stay. He and the staff created a warm, efficient dining experience that made a real difference during a busy work schedule. The level of service, attention to detail, and friendly atmosphere were second to none.

Thank you to Victor and the entire restaurant team for making my stay that much more comfortable and enjoyable. I’ll certainly be returning on future trips.

Clayton Hotel Manchester - No thanks

Clayton Hotel Manchester - GIVE IT A WIDE BERTH. Rooms are fine but food and drink is appalling (that's if they even have any drinks). Hidden extras all the way, shuttle, although you have to pay to use them it does not guarantee you a place on your requested time. Parking at £30 for an overnight stay???? I was a club member but after this shower made my stay an absolute nightmare and then suffered extra costs I will not be staying again. Check out Tribe, the new hotel, much more professional.

Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport. DATED AND NO NETFLIX

Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport. What a disappointment!!! The hotel is very dated the rooms feel more like a bed and breakfast. There tvs are not smart, they do not connect to internet even though they have Netflix on the control pad, this makes no sense. Also they charge you for late check out.
Carlton round the corner and closer to airport have Netflix, the rooms are beautiful, and they allow late check out for free, rooms are modern. Same prices!!
Hope you find this helpful 😁

Amazing hotel and staff

Absolutely Brilliant!
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Clayton Hotel in Bristol. Can't fault it at all. Comfy beds, tasty breakfast with a big selection and the staff were amazing ,especially Jess . Exactly what we needed after a long day travelling. Rooms are soundproofed so it's a peaceful night too.

Clayton Hotel Leeds offers an exceptional experience with outstanding service.

From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Their incredible care and attention to detail truly stood out. During Ramadan, I needed Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) at 3:30 a.m. To my surprise, a staff member personally delivered my meal to my door right on time. This level of service and consideration is truly exceptional and demonstrates their genuine commitment to guest satisfaction.

A special shoutout to the amazing staff at Leeds branch your kindness and professionalism made a significant difference. If you’re seeking a hotel that genuinely cares about its guests, Clayton Hotel Leeds is the place to be. I’ll definitely be returning!

Thank you!

Clayton Leeds hotel-While staying at…

Clayton Leeds hotel-While staying at the hotel there was loud drilling throughout the day until 17:00 in the evening. After staying at the property I have came out in a massive rash due to the hotel having bed bugs. I made a complaint to their manager Danielle and she tried to gaslight me and say that the reaction that I got was not from the hotel. She is very rude and lacks good customer service. I’ve stayed in Clayton hotels in Manchester and they were amazing how this hotel was at a low standard. The hotels also in a dodgy area there are loads of drug addicts, when the taxi man dropped me to the hotel he made me aware that the area is really bad.

If you want hot breakfast, good coffee and great bars service, don't stay here

Clayton Hotel , Lapps Quay, Cork. On a positive note, the room was very nice. Clean , comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. We were on the 6th floor, so it was also very quiet. However, there were two tea bags, two coffee sachets and hardly any sugar. Not a good start to the day. At breakfast. The Bewley's coffee was so weak it did not even taste of coffee, it was vile, when asking a member of staff for any other coffee, they actually agreed and said that they disliked it also so did not drink it. She offered to get us coffee from the Coffee Dock. She was lovely, the coffee however was undrinkable it was so horrible. On to the breakfast itself, the scrambled egg, stone cold, the mushrooms, stone cold, don't know about the beans as there were none in the pot. In fact, all of the 'hot' food was cold. Had to go looking for teaspoons and to fill the empty milk jug on the table - staff looked rushed off their feet, not sure what they were doing though. Restaurant food. Cheap chips that had been kept warm, by the time we got them, yep cold and horrible. The menu was very limited and what we tried was not worth it.
Bar staff. Not a clue between them, my husband said to someone it would be quicker to go up to our 6th floor room and order room service. So totally unaware - they need training (I owned a pub for many years, so I know what I am talking about here). The receptionists were very helpful, the one with the red hair managed to get the atrium tv working with sound and channel change so that we could watch the rugby. She was lovely.
I felt there is/was a very much 'that will do' attitude and as most Irish people will not complain, well when the receptionist asked me how our stay was, well she asked.......
I am fed up with paying not cheap prices for food that is awful, for bad service and for general apathy. Disappointment is around every corner. My expectations are now in tatters , Again!
The proximity to the town was excellent, but if you are going for good food, good coffee and quick bar service, you have chosen the wrong hotel
