Inconvenient slow and non client-oriented
I was a client of Comodo for years. Recently they changed procedure of verification requiring that company is listed at D&B database with phone number to use for verification. But the procedure of listing at D&B takes up to 30 business days! Why they dodn't notify their clients about it in proper time? I'm sure Comodo has database of customers with information about when certificate expires. The only explanation is they don't care about their clients! It's a good reason to switch to more friendly company.
Very bad support.
Very bad support.
If you would like to chat with a person in order to get support, just forget it! You will have to wait over 20min from answer to answer.
In spite of providing multiple …
In spite of providing multiple verifiable official government records, they want a phone number validation from DNB! Why DNB? Why phone verification? Absolutely ridiculous! Avoid at all costs!
If you could get awards for terrible service...
Used them for years without any problem. The first time I needed help with a problem and it's amazingly bad customer service! They revoke my certificate in error and then a woman based in their New Jersey office practically shouting down phone to tell me that it was all my fault.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. I used them a year ago and had a terrible experience, have used them again recently and it was even worse.
Terrible, user-unfriendly and painfully slow validation process. You can have all the correct documentation in the world, but it seems writing it on a paper aeroplane and throwing it in the air would probably be more successful.
Customer service even worse. Tried by e-mail and received poorly worded responses, tried by phone and spoke to the rudest agent I've probably ever spoken to (seriously, it was comical. Silence instead of a hello and a hang-up instead of a goodbye.)
Can't repeat enough - use another provider for your SSL certificate if you want it within three weeks and without having to chase them up every step of the way.
Intrusive and unreliable. Not in your interest.
Whereas Comodo handles the basics reasonably well, it is the most intrusive firewall I have ever used and the accompanying browsers are most unreliable.
You get the sense that Comodo is more concerned with protecting others from you than you from others. The recommended "secure" dns servers will block fairly inocuous and established sites such as Blogspot and Music Stacks as 'Warez' sites. Music Stack is a record collectors site which I use for my work. Although Blogspot may contain some links to such sites, I am unaware of them and this seems a very heavy-handed approach. If you try to mark such sites as safe, the software will reject you. You cannot be trusted with your own activity.
The 'secure' browsers that Comodo packages (basically hacked versions of Firefox and Chrome) are atrocious. The Chrome clone barely works at all, crashing within a day every time I reinstalled it. The Firefox clone insists on using every mb of processing power your computer has available regardless of what else you may be doing.
It comes packaged with a utility called 'Geek Buddy' which seems suspiciously similar to a remote access tool. What it really is, of course, is an opportunity to nag you.
While the core firewall protection seems pretty effective, it is still sometimes necessary to use Malwarebytes or some other tool to repair what Comodo has been unable to prevent.
My first experience with this software was some years ago. What I liked about it then was that it was lightweight, unobtrusive and fairly silent. These are the very opposite of what it has become - another opportunity to police your internet activity on someone else's behalf.
This company is the worst I've seen
This company is the worst I've seen. It's been a month now that we're waiting for the validation of our certificate. The communication via support tickets is useless, they keep asking the same information again and again,
each time in a slightly different and unclear way and do not take into account the situation of a non-US company. We've given all the information that we could to prove our identity and it's never enough.
If want to loose time, money and mental sanity Comodo is here to help.
Stay away from Comodo
Stay away from Comodo. We wait for the ssl certificaat for more than 2 weeks now. How difficult can it be? They have all company information they asked for. Ridiculous it takes such a long time now. Our domain host is providing this service and making use of the comodo services. I feel sorry for them comodo delivers such a poor performance.
The most incompetent customer service I have ever seen
Oooh my, where do I start...
We purchased EV SSL Certificate from them and everything was fine when we needed to do the verification of the extended license.
I agreed on a time when they can call me and verify, talked to them and got assured we will get the certificate next day. Two days after I reached out to the customer support to find our that our certificate was not validated :) no records of phone calls or anything. A bit annoying but I did the verification one more time. This time we did validate it and got it in couple of hours.
Now you ask what is problem here?
First the people they employ to do the verification can barely speak English, that is ridiculous for a company that size. 2nd if you need some support after that, DO NOT count on it.
I have never seen so incompetent and lame customer services reps ever! I will not go in more details because just thinking about it makes me crazy!
Overall I DO NOT recommend them. After the 1st year I will definitely go elsewhere. WHAT A SHAME!
Comodo software will screw up yr system!
DONT GET COMODO ! The software puts hidden keys in yr system and an uninstall will not remove. The support will then hit you up for a one-time fee to repair. They are a scam!!!!
Don't use Comodo, their process and customer service is awful!
My company provides website design and hosting services. One of our clients requires an EV SSL certificate on their site. As the webmaster of their site, they trust us to handle the application and installation--after all, we're the webmasters. The client already has an EV SSL and we were simply renewing it for another 2 years.
First, Comodo needs to call and verify with the client our involvement in the process--totally understandable in this situation. So they schedule a time and day to call as well as a contact person. The day comes and goes without Comodo calling the client. We inquire about it and they simply state "we'll call back during business hours to confirm." Two weeks goes by and they finally call back. The problem is, they ask the receptionist about my company's involvement in the process and not the contact person. The receptionist has no clue who manages their company's website and so she doesn't give them the answer they're looking for.
I then receive an email saying that our verification failed. Well of course it did, they didn't talk to the correct employee who could verify our involvement! So they call back a few days later, talk to the correct person and all is well -- or so I thought. They then call me, state that our client did verify our involvement and then ask for my name and title. I'm the CEO of my company and also the client's webmaster. The rep on the phone (who's clearly Indian and speaks little English) tells me that he can't verify my involvement due to a conflict in job titles--CEO vs Webmaster. They now need me to verify my employment and job title with somebody at my company.
It's a stupid process because I could literally put anybody on the phone to "verify" who I am. I don't understand why this step is necessary when the client has already verified my name as a contact. The job title shouldn't mean anything at that point.
What a waste of time and inconvenience to everybody involved. This company is a joke.
Worse service ever
They cannot confirm with local Goverments the company details... the gov websites are in english! They prefer information from DUNS that get info randomly from web than offical goverment websites!!!!............................ I lost 1 month and still cannot get verified!!!!
They only want DUNS number
Comodo doesn't care about the government issued documents for validation.
Only document they care is DUNS number!!
Not the state issued documents nor IRS issued documents.
Only holy DUNS number.
There must be a close relationship between comodo and dun&bradstreet.
TOTALLY AVOID!!
I'm unable to think of anything new to add to what's already been said previously about COMODO.
Despite being in the UK all their validation information is based around the US institutions.
They ignore companies house information in favour of private directory fims..... for an EV certificate, you have to be pulling my leg at the very least.
It has been said that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, but personally I think that is an insult to the intelligence of monkeys.
I don't think I'll ever trust an EV certificate again if you can get validated by registering with Dun and Bradstreet. They gave me the DUNs number COMODO wanted instantly without any verification what-so-ever. I think personally the whole 'Green Address Bar' thing is an immense scam. It's pushed by large companies who know they call push out the small business via cost and bureaucracy. My advice, ditch COMODO and use another provider.
The whole support experience is woefully poor.
I'd have given 0 stars like many others if that was an option.
Comodo Onbaording - FAIL
First impressions of Comodo, pay peanuts and get monkeys. Their verification process is a joke and the people working behind the scenes are incompetent to say the least.
Verify your details with Dun & Bradstreet (from UK or Germany), if you live in a different country or need to update your records so they can verify your address - you maybe waiting 30 days. Then they have to phone you - say it will be in the next business day (but don't let you know if the business day is Australia or US or Timbuktu Then apparently call you, get the number wrong and don't even bother to drop you an email to say they messed up.
Hope I never have to rely on this joke of a company to resolve an issue.
Gave one star as I couldn't give none or negative.
Worst company ever! Stay away, please.
I am having the worst experience of my life with Comodo. I can definitely say: "Stay away from them!". I purchased an EV certificate a month ago, they required me to find a lawyer in order to verify my company credentials and so I did. Paid the lawyer for his job, I sent the letter to Comodo. They called the lawyer back to verify his credentials and then called me to say that everything has been confirmed. After 2 weeks of waiting, my certificate has not been issued yet. I called them today and they said they have to verify the lawyer credentials before issuing the certificate. No matter how much I insisted trying to remind them that this entire process had already been done, it seems they have not reported anything in their system so it has to be done again. This company is a joke, believe me.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, 17+ DAYS and STILL NO CERT!!
We placed the order on 5/31 for an EV SGC SSL and today is 6/17 and received no cert yet. We faxed the docs and never heard back. I followed up and they said to email it. I emailed it and never heard back. Long story short, after 6+ chat sessions with support and 5+ emails with support...STILL NO CERTIFICATE!! This is SUPER frustrating!!
The last person I spoke with is Brett. I will update if he is able to help.
We are Happy with Comodo!
We used an SSL certificate from Digicert once, something like six years ago. (Maybe twice, I forget.) It worked okay - not great, not horrible - but we've since switched to Comodo SSL Certificate who we're very happy with.
Tedious EV SSL Process
I've signed up to this page just for this review. Comodo has a very tedious and nerve wrecking process.
After you've purchased the EV SSL certificate you need to sign a couple of documents and send them to Comodo which is fine.
I signed the documents and sent them 15 minutes after I've bought the certificate. I received an answer after 1 day telling me that I need to sign and send the documents I've just send in my first email.
I've send them AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN, 4 times in 5 days only to receive the same canned replies from their incapable support staff.
After a very tedious back and forth they told me that I need to REGISTER MY COMPANY INFORMATION ON A PUBLIC DIRECTORY. They also provide you with a list of public directories, handy right?
NO!
From the list they gave you (4 providers) 2 don't work and the remaining 2 are not accepted they tell you. If you point them out that they were the ones who pointed you to that directory they simply decline to validate your information.
I've never ever in my life experienced such bad, such incapable and such a ignorant support channel.
Steer clear!
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
PS: I gave a 1 star rating because 0 stars were not possible.
Thank you
