Fantastic company and service

Fantastic company and service. I had an insurance claim for a damaged screen and as my TV was 75” I had to get an Inspection arranged myself (with an Inspection Report provided for the insurers). I contacted Consumonics and they just brilliant. There were a few calls, I had various questions - always they were polite and really helpful. The guy whom came to see my TV (I forget his name, but he was from / born in Ecuador) - such a nice friendly guy, very helpful. Same as the person on the phone whom I spoke to a few times afterwards too, when I needed some advice. I was also seen within 3 days. Report provided within 48hrs. Brilliant.

Just a great service all round - 100% recommended !!

Avoid here and save your money

My 6-7 years old TV showed black screen so I contacted this company to get repairing service. It was my big mistake to chose this place. I was considering to buy a new TV as it's old but my husband wanted to check the price of repairing.

When we called them, they said it sounded like "backlight issue". If it's backlight, it's easy to fix. They also said they couldn't say the price before checking the TV. Because it can be another issue. But if it's backlight, it will be covered with initial price (£110) otherwise it can be charged more. I wanted to make sure about the price because new 55" LG TV is about £450. If it's more than £110, buying a new TV would be better option I thought. So we called them several times to see the price range with the backlight issue. When I researched it, I could see the same issue as mine.

In the end I did the process with them because I believed it will be backlight and will be covered with £110 as the guy advised me like that. However they said I have to pay £193 more. Total price is £303 for replacement backlight. Now they said this is not a simple thing. For the labor £115 and the parts £188.

And they claimed that the guy maybe just gave me an example. How could he gave me that example while he said backlight issue? So he guessed correct issue but didn't know if it's simple fix job or not? it's almost 3 times price then he guessed.

So I called some repair stores to check the price to replace it, and they said it depends on the model but MAXIMUM price will be £200 for 55" Samsung TV. Also inspection fee is only about £35. I had to check and compare this before doing this process with them. I shouldn't have believed their website and google reviews.

Now I'm thinking this is all my fault. I was so idiot because I didn't check and compare to others. But at least, I learnt something with £110. Hope others could keep their £110 or more. What's different as scammers they are? Thank you for your amazing service.

Hi Ms Hyeonju,
Our phone call recordings were shared with yourself to prove that the information we had provided was correct and your alleagtions are unfounded.
The response to your accusations are set below:

Thank you for your feedback and sorry to see that you were left unsatisfied with our service.

Your partner actually spoke to me (Hammad) when you got yourself booked in, therefore I feel it is fair that I respond to your concerns.

We appreciate that you, like many other customers, would like a quote for repair before anyone inspects the fault. But it is simply not possible for us to do without a part number if you can appreciate it. Based on the fault you advised, I did certainly advise you that it seems like a backlight failure, but I also advised upon you enquiring that I would not know the cost unless you can supply me with a part number or at least a screen number. At that moment you seem to have understood this requirement for me to quote you. Your husband with whom I actually had this discussion should be able to verify this as well.

Nonetheless, Our labour fee of £115 is justified based on the work required on your TV which also constitutes our warranty of 5 months which no other repair company can match (generally its 3 months from all repairers) this fee also includes costs covering the delivery as well other operational costs for our business to operate. Should a customer decide not to proceed then their callout fee covers our costs (like every other business). If you wish to understand what backlight replacement entails then you may search for a video on youtube to find that it is timely labour and not as simple as you may be believing it to be. In relation to the cost of the parts, we have supplied you with the part numbers so you are welcome to contact Samsung and ask for the price at your convenience.

If you were lucky enough to find someone who can repair at £200 with genuine Samsung parts then you are more than welcone to proceed with them. Actually we would do you one better, If that repairer is able to supply a genuine invoice from Samsung of the parts they will use, then we will refund you the callout fee of £110 that you paid. Given that the other repair company provides you the same service as ours which includes collection, repair amd delivery within the £200 quoted with 5 months warranty. Once you have done that, please provide us with the repairer's invoice as well as the invoice of the part they would source from Samsung.

--reply to your addition:
It does seem that you have misunderstood how our repair process work.
Please check the 'how we operate' page on our website).

We gave you the breakdown of our process like we do to all other customers. The callout fee would have covered any simple repair job including repair to your backlight if it were possible. Your backlight array does not have 1 or 2 strips faulty rather the whole array, hencewhy the quote of replacement parts. Now how would we had known that the whole array would need to be replaced without diagnosing or looking at your TV?

I was correct to state it is the backlight array, but without looking at it I would not have any clue what type, what part number, how bad is the failure. Thats why I stated that IF THE TV NEEDS ANY PART OR LABOUR THEN THE CALLOUT FEE GETS DEDUCTED FROM THE QUOTE.
I am sorry to hear that you feel that we have hidden something from you, whereas we have clearly mentioned our terms to you over the phone, which are also viewable on our website and the job sheet we left you.

You state that it is not relevant what parts are used for the repair. I believe it is relevant as you are comparing someone else quotes with ours, so it is fair to ask what parts and service they are offering.

Our offer still stands, or you can source whichever part you like and we can install it for you but no warranty shall be provided.
