I gave a one star because you don't…

I gave a one star because you don't have a zero. Firstly I should say, I'm not sure its the company or just one person..? I've had previous dealings, to buy complete kits and it was OK.
But now.....???
I ordered parts on 25th May. They did'nt have them all so I said wait until they have them and then post. Nothing happened. I've sent mails and even sent 4 in last week and no response. I've called ...got answer phone, left message but no answer. I've asked to speak to mngt. or owner...but nothing (my contact appears to be blocking my efforts). I've paid for parts that I have'nt received. I ask for a full refund..but have had every excuse under the sun saying we are working on delivery. I even contacted Mantua UK, who said 'we have the parts in stock but have not received an order from Cornwall' and that was back in July. Cornwall then said factories are on vacation, which they were as I validated this, but after the August period still nothing. Two weeks ago my contact said 'I'm in the warehouse collecting your order'. I asked 'have they been shipped' and 'when will I get them'...no answer.
Its now 6th December, 28 weeks after placing orders and still nothing.
Unless I'm wrong, if your buying a complete, expensive kit, you'll get it OK, but spares totally useless.
As I said at the start it may not be the company but the only person I can get to speak to or mail is Glenn Richards. I could describe how incompetent he is but it would take too long.
I have now made contact with local lawyers to see what I can do and I will make sure that any charges I get will be paid by Cornwall.
Is all I can say, buying new big / complete kit, probably OK but good luck, but if its anything else just forget it.
I'm now trying to find another dealer who can help..and if anyone out there knows of one leave a telephone number and i'll contact you direct.

afternoon David, firstly all of your emails have been replied to even the last one you sent Monday this week, we have also emailed you showing that parts you've received are what you paid for minus the 3 items from mantua which are the parts we have been trying to order in to complete your order, you will see also that these 3 parts you haven't yet been charged for as we only take the money for the parts shipped. As for the dealings with mantua, we have spoken to them over this matter and they have said to you as we have that the parts are in stock with mantua themselves not mantua uk. we order form mantua uk every week, so to say we haven't tried ordering is wrong. we have a chain of supply to go through and with the manufactures being in Europe this isn't a quick process.. in regards to the "suppliers" being on holiday, all of our European suppliers being Italy Spain Denmark shut down for a summer break, in this time there are no orders to or from them then when they're back they is a delay as they will be over run this we cannot help. as for a full refund this would not happen in any case except from faulty not as described products but as the invoiced order minus a small item which we are aware of was delivered as ordered and paid for. we operate a zero tolerance of any abuse etc against our staff and and suppliers and to this fact we will no longer supply you as a customer.

Website looked good and I know they are…

Website looked good and I know they are still trading but they don’t respond to email enquires, Facebook messenger or reply to answer machine messages left whilst they are open. I requested some help as some of the items on the website didn’t match with my plans so I needed some clarification. I shall take my business elsewhere

Highly recommended

Bought for my father-in-law. I ordered Tuesday afternoon and it arrived the next morning. Fantastic service and also realistically priced - unlike another retailer with hiked up RRP's and discounts to make you believe you are getting a good deal. Highly recommended.

Just an update to your reply on the…

Just an update to your reply on the 12th Feb 2023. In your reply you state that you informed me that the servo you was sending would not fit the boat and that I would need to purchase a micro servo. I'm sorry to say that is not the truth. Nor did you at any time offer to swap the servo for the micro servo. As I said in my original review I purchased the Diva model boat which comes without the parts to turn it in to a R/C model. I asked if you could send everything I needed to make it a R/C boat. If what you say is true why would I buy a Servo that was not for the boat to then go and purchase the correct one from elsewhere. The truth is you never answered any of my emails.As to your comment about other modellers fitting the original servo you sent. You would have to cut out some of the support spa's and the side panel. Even then it would be above the height of the deck. Are you going to say you should then raise the deck. Also why has it taken 5 months for your reply. I do not take kindly when someone infers that I am untruthful. I will ring you on Monday and talk man to man. I won't be holding my breath that you will answer though.

Overall a bad experience

Extensive catalogue of parts, but not all it seems. I ordered two items. One was nothing like the description, which they blamed on the manufacturer but other suppliers seem to have got it correct. The other turned out to be very poor quality when I tried to trim flashing off the plastic moulding.
I asked for and got a refund for the first item, but they did so without the postage both ways.
Update: After reminding them they promised to refund postage, they said they had forgotten but would do so now. Yet I'm still waiting after two weeks.

Not Pleased With The Way Business is Conducted

Nice boat kit when it arrived but sadly lacking any instructions. Also, no purchase confirmation email (as other companies do) and they did not answer a simple email enquiry as to if and when it would dispatch. In need of some customer service training.

Poor Service.

Must agree with the other comments here re service - really bad.
Only part of the order sent and really no effort (or inclination it would seem) to complete it.
Ok, not a huge order but that really shouldn't make any difference.

I placed my order over the weekend and…

I placed my order over the weekend and had everything delivered promptly with excellent customer service.

Some of my items were out of stock, but they immediately contacted me and advised me on my options (take order as is or wait a few days for the rest) and we’re very prompt at answering emails etc.

Will be using again for all my model making materials.

Excellent company

Ordered items on Sunday evening. Emailed them Monday morning to ask when they would likely dispatch them. I almost immediately got a email back confirming that they would be dispatched that day. Items then got delivered the next day. I would 100% use this company again.

My experience here was beyond expectations

My experience here was beyond excellent. I was waiting for the Amati Bismarck model to be in stock; Danielle from their customer service team informed me quickly. She was pleasant and very helpful.

I ordered the model on October 26, it arrived in the US on October 29 - three days after placing the order.

Excellent service. I would advise anyone who is having issues to ask to speak to Danielle; she is excellent.

Non existent customer service.

Cornwall model boats don't deserve one star really. I purchased a few small items 6 weeks ago and expected delivery within a week. After ten days nothing arrived, contacted cornwall MB by email and they provided a Royal Mail tracking number that showed, after two weeks that parcel was awaiting delivery attempt whatever that means. After two weeks they resent order, they say, now four weeks later that has not arrived either. They do not answer the phone number they provide and it goes to voice mail. They are not replying to or answering emails either. This is appalling customer service. I know there are good reviews for this company and I imagine they are accurate, but when on the receiving end of not getting something you have paid for, something is not right with that supplier. Personally given my shopping experience with them I would advise to steer clear.

Update : It was not six weeks ago I placed my order but just over four weeks, 31 days ago. My bad. I just had a phone call from Cornwall MB as they noticed the chargeback my bank made for the ordered items I never received after over four weeks. Lady was very polite and it seems C M B were at fault. The reply I received informing me my lost items would be resent was not acted upon and the items were never resent. I can accept this oversight but not the fact as others have mentioned in the bad reviews, they are not answering the phone and had not responded to my email chasing the order for 11 days. I have to wonder if I hadn't had my bank carry out the charge back if I would have heard from them at all.
I am not a rude person and the lady I spoke with admitted they were at fault but when you only called me to query why I made the chargeback due to not receiving my order and you ask questions, please have the courtesy not to keep interrupting, and you do, when someone is trying to explain. Its very rude.

Non-existent customer service

I placed an order with them in April which included a tube of Super Glue 90 second epoxy. When I came to use the epoxy shortly after receiving my order I found that not only did it not set in 90 seconds but still hadn't set after 3 days! It was like putty and I had to scrape it all off and start again. Probably a bad batch or more likely old stock. Anyway, I contacted Cornwall Model Boats about this using their online form but they have never even acknowledged my message let alone replied. That was at the beginning of May and I am still waiting. So this was my first order with them and it will also be my last.

Firstly I apologise that he glue was faulty, unfortunately glue coming in sealed syringes is not something we can test.
However we have not received any mail from you informing us, hence the reason why you had no response. I can assure you we deal with all warranty/faulty products as soon as we have been made aware of an issue.
I will speak to our suppliers to query the batch number of this product "SUPSY-IN" as it certainly is not old stock from our perspective.

I am pretty sure I have located your original order (280153) and just need to know whether you would like a replacement or a refund of this product. A very unhappy customer

I bought a plan from this company to build a boat but it has no instructions or information on materials . After contacting the company I was told they don't include them ...read terms and conditions !. It doesn't state on the site that it's a basic drawing I was pay over £16 for . I'm a pensioner and have saved hard for this and they couldn't care less . I will never use them again . Make sure you have all the information before buying anything from these people .

However I would like to clarify some comments you made regarding plans as you are obviously new to this side of the hobby.

We are sorry you feel mislead and that we don't care, this is not the case at all, however you placed the order online yourself. Prior to placing your order if you had contacted us with your requirements we would have been happy to help you and advised you as to whether this item was suitable for you.

The Model Boats Magazine plans do not generally include instructions because they are drawings and arrangement plans for you to use as templates; there certainly wouldn’t be a step by step guide to building and it is stated on the description that this plan is printed on one sheet. The vast majority of Plans do not include a list of materials as that is usually left to the builder to make that choice. Part of the fun of building with plans is the ability to choose from a wide range of fittings, materials and hardware.

The refund terms and conditions my colleague pointed out applies only for items that are of a special order basis. The plans in question are marked as printed to order, which means we get our suppliers to print out a copy specifically to fulfil an order, they are not held as a stock line. On items carried as stock the 14 day cooling off returns period applies.
