THERE WAS A CIGARETTE IN MY COFFEE.
On 22 October 2025 I purchased a Caramel Signature Latte from the Costa drive-through at Moto Cherwell Valley services. The drink tasted unusual so I never finished it. I left the cup in my car overnight — the vehicle was unoccupied and I do not smoke. The following morning I poured the remainder out and a cigarette butt fell from the cup.
I reported the incident formally to both Costa and Moto. Costa acknowledged and passed my details to Moto. Moto conducted an internal investigation, concluded there was "no evidence" the object came from their premises, and offered £30 in in-app vouchers. I rejected this and requested a proper refund, goodwill compensation, a written apology, and disclosure of CCTV and food safety logs relevant to my order.
Moto stopped responding. It is now over six months since this incident. I have received no refund, no compensation, no meaningful apology, and no genuine explanation of how this happened. The complaint has been dismissed at every level.
It has been my experience when visiting…
It has been my experience when visiting any Costa Coffee Shop the staff very rarely smile, say hello or make me feel welcome. Yesterday, in Hednesford Costa, the girl taking my order didn't even look at me. The Burntwood Costa the girls know me and are lovely. However, when a new person starts l am treated with total disinterest. I've worked Customer Service for 45 years and the first thing l do when I greet a customer is Smile 😃 it's not rocket science. Please train your staff to smile 😃
Costa coffee Hillington Glasgow
Costa coffee Hillington Glasgow, great coffee ☕ and service from the friendly staff. Always go to this branch as always a bit quieter noise wise.
I’ve been a regular customer
I’ve been a regular customer, but I’ve had a repeated issue with one staff member. They keep pressuring my partner to greet them, which is uncomfortable.
Today (27 April, around 3–4 PM), they loudly called out across the café asking why my partner didn’t say hello or goodbye, in front of others. This felt unprofessional and embarrassing.
I have raised this before, but it keeps happening. This behaviour needs to stop. Address: 24-26 Church Rd, Stanmore HA7 4AW, United Kingdom
Rudest and most erratic staff ever encountered
Very rude, erratic, xenophobic and racist staff, in many of their stores, especially catford and Bromley ones.
They 'forget' your orders half the time (God forbid you get an apology), leave tables filthy for hours but get a sudden urge to bang every chair around customers sitting peacefully, and sweep the floor as hard as possible to make sure as much dust as possible gets into your beverage.
They also let customers get harassed and endangered by drunks or drug addicts without saying anything (unless it is one of their friends).
Either the company willingly trains them this way, or they just employ whoever shows up at their door because a lot of their behaviours are very similar to severe mental illnesses, and that's extremely worrying... I'm here for a coffee, not deal with the staff's childhood traumas!
Unfortunately Costa has been very…
Unfortunately Costa has been very disappointing in the past years, I always used this company for coffee and even the express that are constantly out of order.
At the coffee shop is an embarrassing asking questions, ridiculous and inappropriate darling or honey, I just order a simple black coffee and I have every single time to get trough an incredible cascade and stressful question despite asking clearly a small black coffee, (yes even at the same shop with the same person) I come from a 20 years behind the bar and I am shocking to see this old approach, considering that each order take some time 10 minutes, between a bad system and infinite questions, over £3.25 for a small coffee and rate 2 service and quality on a scale 1-10.
Tables and bathrooms are dirty, I am not saying in a pick time, but early in the morning,
Costa has a enormous role in my grow in England and history of memory as I used it to study for qualifications and due to a nice modern design in some/most case a relaxing escape, but it truly lacking of proper organizations and love from this job, because the employer make this. I hope that self-service order will take over soon, owing to be treat like a number I more appreciate order from a machine and avoid the stress of inappropriate and long interview.
From a very affectionate client.
Excellent customer service
Drive Thru, Grimshaw Retail Park, Lower Audley Street, Blackburn, BB2 3DY
Shout out to the really nice lady (think she has Polish accent) at this drive thru. She is always pleasant and polite, makes my day a little better when you get customer service like this she's a credit to Costa :-)
Excellent food and customer service…
Excellent food and customer service however very expensive
Costa coffee machines serve up gorgeous coffees
I have Costa coffees everyday not from
Costa Coffee shops but from Costa vending machines
in CO-OP or Sainsbury stores.
I must say the machine believe it or not makes a
better coffee than an actual Barista makes.
Well done Costa

In flight Costa Coffee problem
On a recent flight to Dublin from Heathrow on Aer Lingus we purchased a cappucino in flight. The cappucino was un drinkable. It was full of powdery lumps. We complained to the in flight attendant who said they were all like that and that she would make a note of the problum. She offered an alternative hot drink which we declined. Not good.

Parking Eye is losing you customers
Love Costa coffee but fined by Parking Eye for not seeing their signs and overstaying whilst enjoying coffee and lunch with friends. Costa have the transaction record but wouldn’t/couldn’t cancel the parking charge notice as other businesses seem able to. Parking Eye also wouldn’t accept the transaction record for appeal. Costa you’ve lost 3 regular loyal customers from this.
Costa coffee golden sqare staff lovely…
Costa coffee golden sqare staff lovely its a pity about furniture fittings seats are all badly stained a disgrace and getting the staff to go on there knees to clean the legs of tables and chairs i wouldnt sit on the chair they are rotten i think the staff to get more than a 10 it shiuld be a score of 100
Health risk
When my partners order arrived it was a serious public health risk no food hygiene standards were followed at all. The driver had dropped it on the pavement no bag and the food had been on the ground - no refund was given as a picture obviously cant show that it had been on the ground - the driver said hed reported it which is the only reason she gave him the code but he clearly lied - i wouldnt order from here they have ZERO food hygiene standards and do not care if they make you ill
Not good
Not good, had to wait a long time for my drink and i was overlooked!
I was in shop today with my young…

Failed to credit free drink
Costa, Robin Park, Wigan. “Barista” failed to credit free coffee, stating it wasn’t showing up. Went back to show it was the case, being present on the app since 20/04/26.
His level of interest was zero, and he made no attempt to put things right.
Stop using this ripoff company
For the last two days coffee delivered damaged, no apology and you can’t contact them….app deleted and refuse to use them anymore and will tell others to stop wasting money on them in future
