Last November I bought a Laptop from Costco. I was travelling to India. I bought a recurring Costco membership. Upon return, in January, I tried to close the membership online but failed. I called and CS said: "Your membership is good to the end but there will be no recurring charge.
Then, last week $49.99 fee NOT for Costco but for Geek Squad (maybe hidden inside the Costco, I don't know.) I call Costco, talk to a fellow in Honduras for half an hour: I have closed the membership, you will not be charged again, but you must travel to the store to get a refund?" Huh?
The store is a 2-hour drive 70 miles (140km) one-way. That is just insane. So I contest the charge on my Sears/Citi CC. But Citi puts me back w/ Geek Squad who says: "We have closed your membership but the system says: $0 refund." Ok...it's now closed a 3rd time? And then I must travel for 5 hours and 140km to get my $49.99 back? No.
If Citi does not honor the chargeback, I am stuck. But, I will go to my local Small Claims Court and pay $150 and ask BOTH Costco + Geek Squad for $150 for costs + $49.99 for the improper charge + $280 for my time. (Note: No judge will give me "time," but if they do a no-show, the judge is likely to do that. I'll pay the $49.99 and dun Geek Squad for $479.99 and do a short YouTube video on the process as this really sucks.
I hope they wise up and just accept the chargeback.

The Schaumburg, IL Costco tends to treat Seniors like bumbling thieves. There door monitors are the worst of any of the 3 Costco’s in the vicinity. I was shopping at Costco early morning trying to avoid the crowd. When the lady checked the receipt at the door she marked it then went through my cart a second time and told me the bread was not paid for. It was not my fault as the cart went through their aisle, her attitude was I took it. How do I steal two loves of bread when I only bought six things total. When I expressed my displeasure at this treatment she said she was calling the manager and not security, insinuating she was doing me a favor. I am a regular Executive Customer at Costco, I purchase majority of my groceries and other products there. I will definitely reduce my purchases as i have noticed the people at the door have an attitude of treating you like a thief, especially Seniors. When we go to grocery stores there is no one checking receipts, how do they survive. I will be reporting this matter to the appropriate authorities. The employee then started arguing I had no right to tell her anything. I requested the front desk manager to give me the Store Manager’s number or email she provided me with the general CS number.

Ordered a dishwasher with delivery and installation. Notified of delivery and installation date. Told to expect notification call in advance of deliver. Date arrives .... no call ..... no delivery. Calls to COSTCO and their chosen installation team results in notification delivery and installation would not take place for another 12 days. Don't know why they think we believe that whopper. Technical ability to install and ability to manage when and information flow are probably closely linked.
UPDATE: Direct Connect Connections (contractor) arrived this date, made contact in advance and arrived as stated. Installation was done well and cheerfully with a challenging sink that would have me cursing. As of this date and time I say five stars.

Today at Christmas eve I had to make some buys at Costco. I arrived at 9.55am. All lot of people were waiting patiently. I decided to go ahead and enter. They did not let me . I discussed with whatever person of Costco that it was ridiculous. At that time who cares who enters. I had to get back out. At that time they lost me as a regular customer.
Giving this incentive to executive customer s and enforcing it made them look ridiculous. Which executive customer cared about letting customers in early as they used to do before the ridiculous incentive. When ten o clock arrived the had to.write down their statistics so regular customershad to wait another minute. If you arrive with your incentive at nine, it makes sense. But at 9.55 it does not.costco management think about how not to piss off regular customers. SamsClub is just down the street.
Avoid this Costco — Unprofessional Staff!
During our visit to the Costco location (976 3rd Ave) , several Asian male employees handled merchandise carelessly at checkout, causing multiple items to hit our feet. When we mentioned the items be handled more carefully, the staff continued to argue instead of addressing the issue. Despite our repeated requests to end the conversation, the employees failed to disengage and continued verbal interaction, which contributed to the escalation and required supervisor intervention. Other nearby customers also observed the incident and noted the unprofessional and rude behavior.
We expect this incident to be addressed promptly, and recommend additional training to ensure employees adhere to proper standards and prevent similar occurrences. Costco’s failures to resolve this issue may result in cancellation of our Executive memberships and relocating our purchases to another retailer.

Very poor customer service.
I bought a set of tires at Costco 10 months ago and get the road hazard warranty with my tires. I hit a rock last week and blew a tire out. It took Costco 8 days to get my tire in. I called around 15 times to check on the status and they never pick up the phone in the tire center. This is my 3rd time experiencing this type of customer service from their tire center. I had to drive up to the warehouse 3 different times to finally find out that my tire was in, yet nobody called. The customer service guy had to go through a stack of 20 pieces of paper to see if my tire had arrived, even though this is the 21 century. Lastly, they couldn't get me in to change my 1 tire until later this afternoon. The entire change would probably take 10 minutes. This is some of the worst customer service that I have ever seen from any type of tire company. I think Costco needs to decide whether they want to be in the tire business or not. For a company that I overall really enjoy shopping at, this has been a horrible and very costly experience for me. It has left me without a car to drive for 8 days, because of how unsafe it is to drive a car with the emergency donuts.

A long long slide down the slope for Costco. They used to be known for quality and value. No longer. They must think that consumers are blind and stupid to serve poor products. Example 1. They used to have a center cut thick bacon. No longer. The bacon is thinner and fattier. Example 2. They used to have great tire prices, rarely matching service. Now? Haven’t gone to Costco tires for 6 years since I can find the same brand cheaper elsewhere with more quality of service.

When contacted, Costco was not able to connect me with the Marketing Department so they can address the issue. In fact, Costco employees didn't even seem to care about the bad reputation that these emails may be causing.

Absolutely terrible telephone customer service.
Although I would rate Costco prices well, their telephone customer service is absolutly terrible whether at Thurrock or on the central number. The Thurrock number just cuts you off after a few minutes of holding. The central number just keeps you holding until you give up! Unfortunately this happens whenever I try to call them, not just on this occasion. It appears that they are trying to force customers to use chatboxes by having inadequate numbers of staff. They are putting Costco's convenience above customer satisfaction. In future, I will probably make purchases at slightly higher prices from other outlets so that I can get a reasonable level of customer service.

Buying 50c water with a card only is stupid.
I love Costco however the other day I wanted to buy water from the machine in Epping and it said Card Only, it took me ages trying to buy 3 bottles of water for 50c each and had to use my card 3 times @ 50c. How ridiculous is that. Obviously Costco (being American) is pushing hard for digital money thus Figital ID. Also the fact that they make you buy food from the restaurant using only card is stupid and wrong for people who can't use them. I will not be buying food and water with my card again.

Really disappointing.
Fair enough I have the individual membership, but I went to customer services to ask for a one early entry as I explained I have a 3 hour journey home and this was the last store on my journey as Costco don't service the East of the country, and they out right refused. Wouldn't even acknowledge my situation.
I said I would go grab a drink from the cafe and wait until my time. They said I can't even be in the store and had to leave. Disgusting towards members!!!
I go in this store or Birmingham once a week and have done for a while. I challenge them to look at my entry records.
So now I'm sitting in my car for an hour, in the rain, thirsty, because they have absolutely no leniency on extenuating circumstances and complete disregard for their customers comfort. Very poor of Costco and their paid memberships!!!

This review is not for the store itself, but for the Costco warehouse phone app. I'm very irritated, as the Costco warehouse phone application is no longer compatible with my 8 year old Android smartphone. I tried looking for the same warehouse deals online from what I knew for certain was listed on the warehouse phone app, and these deal do not appear online. This is quite frustrating, as I now would have to buy a new phone just to get access to the Costco warehouse app (which I will not do). Please fix this asap, as browsing the deals on the phone app are the only thing that drew me into your store since I do not live close to it.
