Very disappointed with the service and…

Very disappointed with the service and delivery experience.

I ordered a laptop from Costco.com because I urgently needed it for my studies. The website showed a specific delivery date, and I chose Costco for that reason — to receive the item on time.
However, I was never informed that there was an issue with the shipment. Only later did I receive an email stating that there was a “system error” and that my order would be delayed by about a week and a half.

Because of this mistake, I did not receive the laptop by the date that was extremely important for my school work. Instead of a sincere apology, the message was written in a way that made it seem as if I should be grateful that a replacement order was being created — even though the problem was entirely caused by Costco.

This is a very strange and disappointing approach to customer service, especially for loyal customers. The situation caused significant inconvenience, and I expected much more responsibility and transparency, especially when it comes to essential items needed for studying and working.

I hope Costco takes cases like this seriously and improves communication and accountability regarding delays. As of now, I can only say that this ordering experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Delivery Scam - LG Washer

I ordered an LG 5.5 cu. ft. Top Load Washer from Costco with a scheduled delivery window of 3–5 PM. Over the course of the day, I received three calls pushing the delivery later, only to be told in the end that it wouldn’t arrive at all. The next day, a representative informed me the washer was never even on the truck, meaning there was no way it could have been delivered despite the repeated “updated” arrival times.

Costco processed a refund, but the misinformation, wasted time, and complete delivery failure were extremely frustrating. I expected better communication and reliability for a major appliance purchase.

I have tried them twice for ordering electronics, don't rely on them as they outsource is to product care who haven't got a clue and are useless just like costco. When you complain they come back with generic responses. Try John Lewis they are much better and provide a proper customer service.

Beware of the Executive Membership Scam

The good news is that there is a kind built in English version, but it's just (poorly) implementing machine translation, and it often gets in the way (e.g. trying to translate individual words on roll-over that are already showing in English). My executive membership had expired and I wanted to make an online order while creating a normal (non0executive) membership, This is purposefully made to be impossible. Once they get you into their scam program, they make it as hard as possible for you to leave. It should be as easy as letting me choose an account type in the renewal step; it's literally just adding a membership item to the cart, so it could just let me add a different type of membership. But, as a policy, they don't do that, because they are evil and predatory and have purposefully decided to scam people for a few thousand yen instead of providing decent service.

Best Costco

I had a fantastic experience with the team at Costco! The staff was incredibly helpful, making the whole visit smooth and enjoyable. You really can't beat their prices, and I was impressed by how easy the ordering process was. Highly recommend for the great value and excellent service.

Disgusting prejudice management team

Disgusting prejudice management team! This review is specific to 1401 Mall Drive N Chesterfield, Va 23235!! This review is is regarding racial injustice, condescending insults, rudeness, trifling and adolescent behaviors by the management team at this location! A family member was employed with this company and had the worst experience ever in a very short period of time! He was verbally attacked on the floor by a nasty female who later lied stating she was a manager (when clearly she wasn’t)! She refused to provide me with her name when I called to complain about the way she spoke to him and LIED to upper management stating I threatened her! No you trash!! I called because you attacked a youth and you refused to give your name..and when you asked what was the issue about I asked for the managers name.. you said I could speak with Peter or Josh.. then you asked what was the issue in reference to then I said it’s in reference to you! You are the problem!! But you lied and said I threatened you!! Great thing about recordings.. I ALWAYS record my calls especially when I know I’m dealing with a low life! To the big fat hippocampus who pulled my son in the office to argue with him about me then told him he was terminated because he pulled out his phone while recording you today.. you are also a liar! A piece of trash! Attempting to intimidate someone! You should be ashamed! ANYONE can record at anytime they choose to!! That was his protection! You got mad because you wanted to continue being a B!tch and he didn’t let you!! You guys disgust me! You are a bunch of red neck, trailer trash, prejudice, losers! Instead of setting an example for the youth you chose to be the big, huge a$$holes that you are! You have no right to attack people! You have no right to be rude to them! You are expected to be professional at all times and when you don’t offer respect… you don’t get any! Go straight to the hottest part of hell!!

I am formally expressing my frustration

I am formally expressing my dissatisfaction with how Costco has handled the warranty on my TV purchased in 2019. At the time of purchase, I was informed that the TV included a 5-year manufacturer warranty plus an additional 2-year extension when purchased using the Costco credit card, for a total of 7 years of coverage.

When I recently contacted Costco regarding this warranty, I was transferred to the warranty department and spoke with a representative named Regina. Regina explicitly confirmed to me that my TV was covered for the full 7 years. Based on her confirmation, she instructed me to proceed through Allstate to begin the claim process. My documentation was submitted, and I received written confirmation from Allstate acknowledging receipt of my information and stating they were locating my protection plan and account.

I then received additional emails from Allstate confirming that my account had been located and instructing me to complete setup online. However, when I attempted to follow their instructions, their system would not allow me to proceed as directed.

When I called Costco again for assistance, I was told by another representative, Saville, that Allstate was not my coverage provider at all and that I instead needed to contact Citibank. This directly contradicted the instructions I had already followed under Costco’s guidance and after Regina’s clear confirmation that the TV was covered for seven years.

After being bounced between multiple parties with no resolution, I finally spoke with a Costco manager named Christine, who informed me that my TV is not covered and that I am fully out of warranty. This directly conflicts with what I was previously told by multiple Costco representatives, including a clear confirmation that my warranty was valid for seven years.

This experience reflects a complete breakdown in internal communication, accountability, and customer advocacy. I have been sent through multiple departments and third-party companies with no consistent answer, no ownership of the issue, and no effort toward resolution. This is not the level of service expected from a company that markets itself as consumer-first.

As a result of this experience, I no longer trust Costco’s warranty representations on major electronics purchases. Being told one thing at the time of sale and again by a warranty representative, only to be denied coverage when the warranty is actually needed, is unacceptable.

I am requesting an executive-level review of this matter and a formal resolution. At minimum, Costco should honor the 7-year warranty that was clearly represented and confirmed, or provide a written explanation for why it is now being denied after repeated confirmations that it was valid.

Nightmare

Overall, the idea behind Costco is sound, but the actual application falls well short desired expectations.

The overall lack of desired items was troublesome. The meats ( which were one of the reasons we signed our business up) was extremely disappointing. My experience with Kirkland meats and products has always been overwhelmingly disappointing.

Produce and dairy was also less than stellar. Much of the produce had an "aged" look and the dairy was just "blah".

Never really did find any other useful products (overall) but I can admit that if I desired a ton of overly processed snack foods, then I would have been in diabetic heaven.

For a family with young children trying to purchase bulk type items that their kids will eat, or those others trying to get a deal on stale pastries, then Costco is definitely the place for you.

This is not to mention the complete chaos present in the business. The poor employees are not compensated enough to deal with that mess.

As for a business, whose sole existence relies on the overall quality of products, then you're better off going to other "business proven" facilities.

Great value for money

The stores are clean, the stock is all neatly displayed, the staff are friendly and helpful, the food in the cafe is really good value for money, the petrol/diesel is low priced, every think is good value for money , electric items have a good garenty on them and they have a good returns police.
There are to many members now a days, doesn't matter what day or time you go, it's hard to park, the petrol station has really long queues.

Costco does not address issues you have with their partnered vendors

Costco partnered with SUNRUN for a few years, and because we trusted COSTCO, we purchased from SUNRUN to install solar panels on our house in 2019. Ever since that installation, we have had leaks in our roof (coming into all rooms on our 2nd floor) since 2019. Even to today. SUNRUN will not take responsibility for any of it, and even CHARGED us to "remove then reinstall" a solar panel due to a leak that was right there, and roofers had to fix. The leak was right at the solar panel and SUNRUN refused to admit it was related, and charged us $3000 to move the panel for inspection and put it back. SUNRUN is a very shady company, do not install with them. We spent (up to 2025) $30K additional (not including our contract which was $30K as well) to FIX ROOF LEAKS due to all their solar panel installation. SUNRUN denies everything and to this day we continue to have leaks every year. COSTCO stopped working with SUNRUN at the end of 2024, due to SUNRUN shoddy work (though they don't say that of course). Now SUNRUN works at LOWE's to gyp the people they can snare there. I approached COSTCO with evidence of all the damage and invoices, and the $30K we had to pay for the leaks. They sent me to their "insurance carrier" and the adjuster came out and looked for 20 minutes then left. Said he would contact us. Never did. When I followed up with COSTCO, someone finally told me "the adjuster could not find direct evidence roof damage by panels". Wow that's shocking. An insurance adjuster who tries to deny a claim so they don't have to make things right for you? Shocking. To this day, we still constantly have issues with the panels and leaking, AND I don't think we save any money with the panels. It has been the WORST decision we have made with our home, ever. I am very disappointed with COSTCO because I am quite sure they found out early on about SUNRUN shoddy work. After a few years, the noise on that was getting loud, so they parted ways with SUNRUN. But they are unwilling to make it right with us. We would NEVER have installed solar panels (we weren't looking to do that) but felt SUNRUN made a good pitch and we trusted COSTCO vendors. They are supposed to be well vetted. Well some team at COSTCO really dropped the ball on this one. This has affected so many households, so negatively, that I felt it was my obligation to share my experience and call out SUNRUN and COSTCO. I'm so disappointed with COSTCO, they just left us hanging. They are fine to let you return random little items (food, clothing, etc.) but they do NOT stand by the big ticket items that they have vendors for. (Like solar). I used to be a big Costco advocate, but no longer.

COSTCO SELLS GIFT CARDS TO STORES THAT ARE OUT OF BUSINESS

Purchased over $1K in Pinstripes gift cards / e-gift cards at Costco store AND online Costco.com but now Pinstripes went out of business here & neither Costco local stores + Costco online willing to assist. Simply told me gift cards are non-refundable & therefore I have to eat them to the tune of over $1K. I am, or better yet, WAS a high volume buyer there. NO MORE! Worst customer service ever at both, store level AND online. Wasn't even asking for a refund. Was asking to replace w/ gift cards to anything else that isn't currently OUT OF BUSINESS. So be VERY CAREFUL when buying gift cards from here as they sell products to stores that are OUT OF BUSINESS.

Customer service is very unpleasant and…

Customer service is very unpleasant and unprofessional. Most of the employees treat customers like they are doing a favor by checking them out at the cashier and even when asking for help in the warehouse they usually hesitate to help, they are bother by the customer who asks for help finding a product. I understand the volume of people that shop can be overwhelming and many people go to Costco now to enjoy free food samples at the tasting carts, which makes it even more chaotic for customers who are there to shop.
Two words of advice as a business owner: give customer service training and certification to your employees, and maybe have a different cost of the membership according to the shopping volume of customers. The more money a customer spends the less the membership costs to them. This way they will be less volume of people that buy nothing and just get free food and happier loyal customers.

Their greediness

What is your problem Costco?
You'd rather sell them cheaper to business members so they can hike the price up!
How are you there for the Anchorage people???
Is this just an Alaska thing because you can get away with it?

Costco is a scam!

Costco is a scam when it comes to "available positions" within the organization. Their website says they have over 300 positions avaialable in Nevada. We've applied for over 50 of them with no phone calls, no emails, nothing. We also had a friend (currently Costco employee) ask their manager regarding hiring as we submitted 10 applications to that specific location and the manager relayed, they aren't hiring. THEN WHY do you have jobs posted? What is the deal?! It's ridiculous. If you aren't hiring, don't have open jobs available on your website. You're wasting people's time who are genuinely looking for employment. DO BETTER COSTCO!
