Over priced and over rated!
Absolutely horrific customer service. Shower didn’t work, restaurant cramped, mouldy breakfast… I could go on but just simply… DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
DONT waste your money
Just an awful experience - that annoyed I can't be bothered to say anything else
Thai Massage
I wasn't able to use my voucher due to covid and had been waiting two years to use my gift.
I realised it was due to expire, so went online and booked the Thai Massage @ The Crazy Bear.
This was such a lovely experience I thoroughly enjoyed my massage, Mam is such a nice lady. I left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed for my week ahead.
I would definitely recommend Mam at the Crazy Bear Stadhampton for your next Thai Massage as she is kind and professional. Thank you. I will be booking again for another thai massage and afternoon tea.
We had the best weekend At The Crazy…
We had the best weekend At The Crazy Bear, Beconsfield, in part because it was our first night away in over four years, child free.
Good points
The decor is amazing, tacky in parts but it works, very unique
Outdoor pool with Moroccan themed seating, very nice to sit round
Loads of room inside for drinks
Table service for drinks and nibbles
Very clean
Huge hot shower in wet room ensuite
Gorgeous smelling toiletries
Dressing gowns included
We ate at the English restaurant, food was delicious
24 hour room service, phone answered very quickly, delivered quickly
Dj on a Friday/Saturday (could also be a bad point, we were in room 9 and could here but not too loud)
Very friendly staff
Massive selection of cocktails
Bad points
The room was very expensive, I booked it on a whim, for an early birthday present for my husband, not worth what I paid, kicking myself as you can get deals on groupon
No tea/coffee making facilities in room, you can order room service, tea is£4.95🤨
Tip, bring a travel kettle etc, ask for an ice bucket, theres a Tesco express less than a minute away
No carpark, hard to park
Drinks very expensive, Tip bring your own for room, ask for ice bucket
Breakfast was a joke, continental included plus tea/coffee, cooked is extra and lattes etc extra plus I had the vegan breakfast, tiny, unripe avocado, handful of spinach, one salad tomoto, a flat mushroom and a fancy, tiny hash brown!!!!
I would recommend it, just go prepared, shame as you shouldnt have to.
Every excuse to not redeem a voucher
Was given a voucher for a meal for 2 worth £160. There are just 2 limitations, and that is that it is exempt on 31/12 and 14/02.
EVERY time I've tried to book at Beaconsfield I get an excuse as to why I cant book for the day I want, eg it's Mothers day. They're not even consistent....one excuse was that I can't book after 5.30pm, even though the voucher specifies dinner. On another occasion they did look for times after 7.30pm (but said there was no availability).
I am now moving out of the area and can't benefit from this gift. Feel totally ripped off and I'm not even the one who paid for it!
I'll count my blessings that I didnt experience the poor vegetarian menu that I've read about on the google reviews.
Impossible to contact anyone with…
This company has zero customer service. The restaurant manager at Stadhampton clearly has no managerial experience or authority to sort a problem and there is no company manager with whom I can make contact.
I purchased 4 separate afternoon tea vouchers for myself and friends birthdays. Unfortunately today one friend, an NHS worker who tests daily tested positive for Covid and has symptoms. I rang and spoke to a pleasant girl who tried to check with a manager what should be done, but no managers answered their phones. She told me to email which I did immediately and marked urgent. No one responded and I was then told on arrival that the voucher had been redeemed and it could not be reinstated for use at a later date and the friend could have attended with Covid despite feeling very unwell.
As a retired company director I am amazed that the Crazy Bear’s cavalier attitude to other guests and staff members being put at risk by suggesting a Covid sufferer with symptoms should enter their hotel.
All I requested was the unused voucher should be available for use at a later date.
I would very much like someone in senior management to make contact with me as it seems impossible for me to speak to them.
Extortionate and will do anything to keep your deposit
We actually had a pretty nice stay whilst at the crazy bear. even though the cost of the room is quite expensive for what it is, the issues only really started when we left.
In the room there was a bath stool which had a tile surface top. (A thin tile surface top mounted on 4 metal prongs, so theres no support in the centre of the surface... not the cleverest of ideas)
This broke when i put a glass down on top of it. I left the tile and glassware on the side in clear sight for the cleaners to see (as this was not through negligence) and reported the breakages when i left (mainly to ensure the glass was properly cleaned up for the next guests as i wasn't sure if i got it all off the flooring around the bath).
We got told at check-in that all rooms are inspected upon departure to make sure they are in good condition.
When we checked out I was told by the receptionist that the room was absolutely fine and our deposit would be released the same day. (I'm unsure whether the room actually got checked or not).
It has been a full month later and the £150 room deposit has still not been released. We have emailed 5 times and called about 10 times, every time asking for a callback or a reply, and a few times we got told the deposit is on its way, and then after hassling them further we finally got a reply from the manager, basically saying that the tile got smashed and I did not tell them at reception so they are keeping the £150 deposit.
Im really annoyed about this because i got told on multiple occasions the room was fine and the deposit will be returned, I did report the breakages to reception when i left and If they checked the room like they said they did when i left then they would have seen the glass and tile and raised the issue when i left?
The lack of communication from CrazyBear when trying to contact them about anything other than a new booking is ridiculous. I told the manager that replied to me I was unhappy about the response and wanted to come to some form of agreement but like with many of the earlier calls and emails i've just been totally blanked, so overall its totally ruined what was otherwise quite a nice experience.
I need to re-iterate, I'm really not one to complain at all. This is the first time I've ever felt the need to leave a bad review but in CrazyBears case i really felt it necessary for people to know how this issue was dealt with in such an appalling manner.
I will never be staying at Crazy Bear again and i'll be sure to make sure other people know about it too.
TLDR; Extortionate and they will do anything they can to keep your deposit money.
Just perfect
We enjoyed good service kind & welcoming staff and delicious good highly recommend the Thai restaurant in beaconsfield. Lots of parking.

Took our best friends here for meal for their birthdays.Told couldn’t use Groupon voucher for the cocktails as wasn’t booked in.
Then when seated for meal, waitress was not knowledgable on drinks nor on explaining menu which wasn’t very clear.Food not hot enough and tiny portions.
This is very over priced for what it is.Will not be recommending at all
Lack of empathy and understanding, bad customer service
Unfortunately as per others, I am pretty shocked at this hotel's cancellation policy. My husband booked a night away for us as a treat, we rarely ever leave our kids and we were so looking forward to it. In comes the worst wind storm for 30 years in which the Met is clearly advising no travel, living in SE London we don't feel comfortable ignoring the blatant warnings so called 2 days prior to our stay to see if we could arrange for another date and were told no. Called this morning to again see if we could simply rebook for another day and was told again that they can't but that our room would be vacant so maybe we could find someone else who wanted to stay! The woman on the phone also snidely told me that the wind was to die down at 3 so no big deal! A little bit of customer service and empathy goes a long way, would never ever recommend them to anyone else despite having stayed there several times over the years and having read the reviews below imagine not many other people would either.
Very disappointed with Crazy Bear
Very disappointed that Crazy Bear rang my son, after they had been asked not to because it was a surprise, they told him about his hotel stay and massage that we had booked.
I specifically asked them not to contact him as it was all a surprise. It’s all been spoiled now . I rang to speak to someone about this but apparently it company policy to ring people before their stay. Can’t people make their own decisions these days without doing what a computer tells them to do. Cross, angry and sad!!!
John O'Flaherty
Where to begin, biggest cowboy, Jason Hunt or John O'Flaherty. Over priced under staffed, under taste. Rubbish customer service when O'Flaherty is helping refunds
on credit cards and not refunding credit cards. Had over 200 employees where I worked, word got around and no one booked. All heard about it, but if booked, cancelled. Perhaps local news papers want to contact me about fraudulent activity; now and in the past 40 years.
Me and my wife booked a £500 room for…
Me and my wife booked a £500 room for our wedding anniversary back in 2020. We rebooked then lockdown happened etc an we had to cancel twice through no fault of our own. I was told by a member of staff that we could extend voucher code only to be told it’s been expired by 3 months and they had sent us an email telling us of our expiry date. This was all lies and we did but receive any email. I have complained and been fobbed off with an email stating our room(voucher has expired) and there is no more they can do. Don’t waste your money booking at this hotel absolute joke.
I booked an expense suite for my wife's…
I booked an expense suite for my wife's 40th birthday. We paid for the upgrade. On arrival the room was freezing cold. Reception explained the room had been unoccupied so it would take a little while to heat. I left the heater on 25. There are no other heaters in the 3 rooms but 1 wall fan heater. We returned to the room later in the evening after dinner drinks etc. Still freezing. I turned the heater up to 30 its maximum. We both had to have extended hot showers to warm up. The outside temperature was - 3. I left my phone on the window sill to check the temperature and it was 12 degrees. When I complained to management they said it is a listed building so they can't put in double glazing. As there are only blinds and no curtains it was blowing - 3 air through the sash windows. 2 rooms have no Heating at all. Only the bedroom is heated. No blankets at all, just the quilt. We resorted to wearing jogging bottoms and sweatshirt plus the bathrobe to try to stay warm. I complained again the next morning and was told they'll check the heating. "some of the rooms have had a few heating issues" I cancelled the other nights we had booked for the future and went to another hotel that night. I wrote in to complain to the manager. No reply.
Excellent
Booked the Thai restaurant on Saturday - excellent service and the food was outstanding!!
Do not book -refusing to refund money even though we had COVID and could not travel !
The day we were due to come to you on my 60th Birthday I developed COVID symptoms and following Government guide lines I therefore needed to isolate for 5 days so we could not come - You are now refusing to refund or offer us alternate dates. My fiancée who is a Nurse spent £500 on this !!! Totally disgusting - I will be taking this to TripAdvisor, Resolver and then Small claims court. I notice on TripAdvisor we are not alone - Disgusting in these times - we followed government guidelines by self isolating rather than risk spreading COVID.
Terrible customer service - AVOID
I had read the reviewes about the poor customer service and that the hotel just see guests as a £ sign but unfortunately, I too have now experienced this.
We had booked a room, dinner and breakfast (£300) on a Tuesday in January. Unfortunately, the day before we were due to stay, my 4 year old son became ill (which i could prove). Despite the hotel confirming that they were only 50% full (as is typical throughout January), they said they were unable to move the booking to the following Tuesday, where they would also be half empty.
We explained that we had saved up for this special occassion and just want them to move the booking 7 days (no impact at all on the hotel) but the manager refused, siting the booking terms and conditions.
It would cost them nothing and have no impact whatsoever to have just moved the booking. Instead we have nowspent £300 on a hotel and food that we are unable to use. The manager and receptionist were both uncooperative and rude in our dealings.
I advise you look to stay in a hotel which has an ounce of compassion and does not look at guests purely as a revenue stream.
Disappointing
I fear that crazybeargroup have succumbed to corporate greed. I stumbled upon the crazybeargroup while searching for a venue for a corporate function I'm organizing & thought 'WoW, what an amazing way to spend NY's eve' & promptly booked for hubby & I. Unfortunately the evening was really disappointing & our experience was nothing like their website implied it would be. They've cottoned on on how to make money but in the process have completely discarded the client experience/journey & the end result is disappointment. They've extended the venue to accommodate a large number of additional tables by erecting a marquee. Unfortunately for those of us seated in the extension, we were not only so far back that we couldn't see the floor area where the aerial acrobatics, the band & burlesque took place, but there was the wall/glass partion of the original structure between us as well so we literally didn't see a thing. And the promised magician was nowhere in site. At best, the dance floor could accommodate 30 people (max) so not sure how they thought they could accommodate 500 people on the dance floor? We literally did not put one foot on the dance floor as it was a bun fight for space. The food was great (they got that right) so hats off to the chef - but because of the numbers they were calling tables up at intermittent times - and we ate dinner at 22h00! The stilt-walkers were at the entrance on arrival, thereafter never to be seen again (same disappearing act as the magician?). Anyway, to cut a long story short, our overall experience was disappointing - especially given the cost of the evening - and we wouldn't go back & we wouldn't recommend it either
DO NOT GO HERE
We had booked a special birthday at Beaconsfield and paid a £100 deposit. We have eaten at restaurants ranging from cheap to fine dining and every type in between but for the price, this was one of the worst experiences. The food and service were so bad I wrote to the owners who passed on my letter to the Manager. To his credit, he did write a long response but did not address many of our complaints so I wrote to the owner again but after waiting for months, have had no response. The owner clearly does not care as he can't be bothered to respond to complaints.
Apart from the bad food and service, they "conveniently" forgot to deduct my £100 deposit from the bill!!
In summary, I can only confirm most of the reviews here and advise people to go elsewhere. How they continue to survive despite all the bad reviews here is a mystery.
Stadhampton- Customer Service!
Stadhampton- Customer Service!
After calling to enquire availability I purchased a groupon voucher for £465 and was told to call with my voucher number. I could not get through on the phone to book so emailed my booking & details. Hours later I was advised this room was gone and was offered 2 other rooms, this was the last I heard from them. The other rooms were not to my liking. The room I wanted which I was told was available had actually been booked out for weeks. I would never had bought the voucher for the junior suite otherwise. If the room had gone between the time I'd bought the voucher I'd have liked to have discussed a way to upgrade the voucher but have not been able to speak to anyone. I emailed around 8 times to try to discuss other options i.e. room upgrade, the last time including the manager no reply at all. Called numerous times no answer. Called Beaconsfield who tried to put me through numerous times also no answer. As this was purchased for a special birthday and travelling from Scotland another day would not suit. 2 days have now passed with no response. I have now had to cancel all birthday plans I had with friends in Oxford & book into Beaconsfield which I'm sure will be lovely & more to do in the surrounding area. All staff I spoke to at Beaconsfield were very professional & tried their best to connect me with Stadhampton. I've never experienced anything like this. Appalling!!!
