No longer luxury at least on QV

We have sailed on Cunard cruises for 10 years and just returned from a voyage on QV.

I’m disappointed with the amount of cut backs Cunard have made over the years making which means it’s no longer a better experience than less expensive cruises.

The ship is looking very tatty in places, particularly in our stateroom which was not good. The food is not what it used to be and so limited in choice.

The staff are always lovely but you can see how stretched they are and did get a fair few things wrong.

We have further cruises booked and for the first time are considering cancelling them.

Cruising with Cunard Line.

I enjoy my time on Cunard ships. Staff are mainly brilliant. They make me feel a million dollars. Lots of attention to details. Choice of destinations and venues, excellent choices for food and fabulous music and entertainment. I just love being on board and wandering hither and thither. Thank you Cunard!!

Far exceeded my expectations

My first ever cruise and I was a solo traveller and not sure what to expect. This cruise on The Queen Victoria far exceeded any expectations I had. Everything was perfect. The beautiful ship, the outstanding crew, the food and how friendly everyone I met was. Now to start saving for my next one.

A truly exceptonal voyage on Queen…

A truly exceptonal voyage on Queen Victoriai

We have just returned from a wonderful voyage on Queen Victoria, and I felt compelled to leave a review because the experience genuinely exceeded expectations.

From the moment we boarded, the ship had a real sense of elegance and occasion. The décor, atmosphere and overall standard on board were first class, but what really made the holiday stand out was the people. The staff were consistently warm, attentive, professional and seemed to take real pride in what they do. Nothing ever felt too much trouble.

The service throughout the voyage was excellent, the ship was beautifully maintained, and the whole experience felt calm, polished and special from start to finish. Dining was a particular highlight, and every day seemed to bring another reminder of why Cunard has such a loyal following.

What impressed us most was that the service never felt forced or scripted. It felt genuine. That personal touch makes all the difference and is what turns a good holiday into a memorable one.

This was a voyage we will remember very fondly, and as a direct result of the experience we had on board, we have already booked another Cunard cruise for next year.

Thank you to everyone on Queen Victoria for making our holiday so enjoyable. Cunard should be very proud of the team on board.

We loved being on the beautiful Queen Anne

We loved being on the beautiful Queen Anne! She is a fabulous ship and the crew are Cunard exceptional, led by an amazing female captain! We had the best time and enjoyed everything the ship offered. We can’t wait to go back on the Queen Anne! We have been on the other Queens and she is a shining star of the fleet!

Queen Elizabeth 12-Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise

The ship was beautiful and the staff was excellent in all aspects. It seemed that all their processes like cleaning, serving, etc. were very efficient. There were beautiful flower arrangements in the Grand Lobby. Cruise fare was very good, but then they $5 and $10 (note this is more than "nickeled and dimed") for many things. $4 for a canned soft drink is ridiculous. The food was good, and there was always a wide variety to choose from in both the Britannia and the Lido buffet. Unfortunately, most chicken dishes and other protein entrees were often over cooked. Afternoon tea was a real treat, and we attended most of the days we were aboard. For dinner we did the open seating option (not available on many other cruises), and it worked very well. We could join the queue in the My Voyage app and never had to wait to be seated. The room-service breakfasts were excellent. The app (really a website you could access through the ship's Wi-Fi and not a separate app) had all the information we needed, but it did not have any messaging capability that would have been useful to communicate with family around the ship. TV channels let us keep up with national news and watch some old TV shows. Shows in the theater were excellent, especially when all the theater staff performers were involved. They did a full performance of Come From Away that was as good as any at the West End or on Broadway. Excellent musicians were almost always playing somewhere on the ship, and many were accompanied by singers. Having a launderette on board was a necessity for us, and we were disappointed that many of the machines were out or order at the beginning of the cruise and more followed. Cunard should have a way to service machines that fail during extended cruises. A whiskey tasting I had signed up for was cancelled, but when it was finally held (for just 2 attendees), it was excellent due to the choice of whiskeys and the knowledge of the person conducting it (David). We arrived early for embarkation but did not have to wait to go aboard. Disembarkation was faster and easier than most of the 18 cruises we have been on. We did not use any Cunard shore excursions but used Vacations To Go or scheduled our own activity (a rum tasting in Barbados). We had cruised the Eastern Caribbean on our own boat for over 2 years, so we were familiar with the islands.

Carnival SHARP Pricing Policy AND TIPPING?

My wife and I have been married 55 years in 2027. To celebrate the anniversary we thought I would be nice to go on a Cunard cruise,In January 26 I booked a holiday on the Queen Mary 2 for three weeks M705.I booked through Bolsover Cruise Club The Price quoted was £7200, a lot of money, as it was our 55th anniversary and I will be 82 years old we decided to go for it. Bolsover gave us a discount of £100 taking the price to£7100. I had to pay a deposit of £1089.This was our first holiday with Cunard.
Just a few days later I was made aware that Cunard had dropped the price for the same grade cabin to £6300 with a £200 deposit. Whilst I was in the process of booking the holiday some person at Cunard was planning to reduce the price by hundreds of pounds.
I accept that prices do go up and some prices go lower.
On the 15 April 26 I looked at the prices again The price of the same grade cabin had been reduced to £5450 with a deposit of £100. From £7200 to £5450, Plus the very large deposit taken from me.
A large number of Cunard (carnival) passengers had booked before I booked in January so must have paid the higher price. Remember Cunard motto " BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE"?
As this is my first holiday with Cunard I was unaware of the tipping policy they have in place. After booking I was informed that I would be required to pay up to $40 a day in tips to behind the scenes staff.( $840 in tips for three weeks.) who rely on these tips because their wages are so low. So having taken an extra £1550+ £43 Cunard made in interest from my deposit ( compared to the April price) I am supposed to top up the wages of low paid staff employed by Cunard
Carnival CEO Josh WEINSTEIN recently proudly reported "An all time high financial results with a net income (profit) of $1.9billion for the third quarter of 2025. marking the strongest financial performance in its history"
I do wonder how much of Mr WEINSTEIN,S $1.9 BILLION net income for that quarter is down to paying his staff low wages(which are topped up by the passengers) and Cunard:s sharp? pricing policy.

Holiday of a lifetime

This was my first Cunard voyage & I can now see why people are so loyal to the line. We sailed on the Queen Elizabeth and she took my breath away. We were lucky to be in the Grills and this took the experience to a whole new level - literally with access to 2 more decks, a beautiful bar and exquisite dining. The thing that impressed me the most though was the crew. The customer service is outstanding. The crew work so hard but are always warm, friendly & accommodating. They really do make you feel like royalty. I can’t wait to book our next trip.

A magical cruise on the Queen Elizabeth

Our first voyage with Cunard aboard the Queen Elizabeth - a 12-day Eastern Caribbean cruise - was, quite simply, a magical experience from beginning to end.

From the moment we stepped on board, the ship itself made a striking impression. The décor is beautifully executed in a refined art deco and classical style, creating an atmosphere of understated elegance throughout. It feels far removed from the brashness sometimes associated with modern cruising.

The service was consistently excellent. Our stateroom steward, in particular, maintained the cabin to an impeccable standard, with twice-daily service that felt both attentive and unobtrusive. Small touches such as fresh towels morning and evening made a real difference.

The entertainment exceeded expectations. There was high-quality live music across the ship and the theatre performances were especially impressive - polished, engaging and genuinely enjoyable. Afternoon tea was a daily highlight: a wonderfully traditional and indulgent experience. The food overall was good, though the speciality coffees could certainly be improved. The tea, however, was excellent.

The complimentary breakfast in bed was a particular delight, with the scent of fresh coffee and pastries providing a perfect start to each day.

The itinerary was thoughtfully designed and offered a superb introduction to the Caribbean, with calls at San Juan, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, St Maarten and Tortola. The beaches in Antigua, Barbados and the British Virgin Islands were particular standouts.

On board facilities were very good. The gym is well equipped, and the Lido pool area is a pleasant and sociable space, especially during the lively sail-away parties at each departure. The Caribbean style BBQ was a highlight.

The library deserves special mention: it is a calm, elegant retreat with an excellent selection of books - ideal for a quiet morning or afternoon at sea.

The onboard photographers also produced some wonderful keepsakes from the voyage, although this service is somewhat pricy.

The spa, while very good in terms of quality, is priced at a level that feels excessive and we only used it once for that reason.

One of the most memorable aspects of the trip was the people. We met a delightful mix of fellow passengers, primarily from the UK, the US and across the Anglosphere, which contributed greatly to the convivial atmosphere on board.

As a gay couple in our 30s, we had wondered beforehand whether we might feel out of place on Queen Elizabeth, given its somewhat older demographic. In reality, this concern proved entirely unfounded. We were made to feel genuinely welcome by both staff and fellow guests, and the atmosphere was warm, inclusive and enjoyable throughout.

We had initially questioned whether 12 days might be too long for a first cruise; in fact, the opposite was true - we were genuinely sorry when it came to an end.

This was our first cruise, and it will certainly not be our last. Cunard has set a very high standard, and we would not hesitate to sail with them again.

Out of this world

Cunard's Queen Victoria is out of this world for ambience, comfort, staff and service. We felt they all wanted to ensure we had the best time. Nothing was too much. Food was wonderful. Hygiene practices were superb. Ship spotless. Decor superb. Activities plentiful and entertaining. Magnificent shows every night. Fabulous spa treatments. Watching the senior crew so professionally go about safety checks around the ship every day, made us feel we were in the best hands. There were three Masters with qualified captain status on the senior team, with decades of experience piloting ships all around the world in all types of weather. We learned that they take environmental issues very carefully and have an amazing recycling process onboard. This was our 4th cruise but first with Cunard. Talking to other seasoned cruisers, most of them never cruised with anyone else after going Cunard. This is exactly what we now feel and are already looking at Queen Mary Atlantic Crossing.
